  1. Fitted the new wing mirrors. Pretty simple process as long as you've got some trim removal tools and a T30 torx and Philips screwdriver. I recommend leaving the lower door light plugged in when you remove the door card. It's about of a pain to plug back in. Mirrors look great. Not as wide a view and because they're smaller you can't adjust as much but they look a lot sportier. Non-folding too but no biggie as they're pretty small. EDIT: Coincidentally, I have a set of face lift wing mirrors in Cosmos Schwarz for sale! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Exactly.... It's a 4kmh threshold cash cow! This guys agrees: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11175825
  3. Drove to Kerikeri and back earlier in the week. Saw 6 different cameras/police with radar en route. Not one of them was placed at an accident black spot. In fact all of them were midway along passing lanes on straight roads. Pathetic in my view. It is well documented that the efficacy of speed cameras and police presence is based on slowing people down in potentially (or procen) hazardous road sections not straight roads where it is not unsafe to go a bit over the limit in order to overtake a slower vehicle that might manage 100kmh on the straight (so you're forced to go a bit faster) but will hold you up at 60kmh everytime there's an incline. Motorists wouldn't mind if it was less obvious the whole thing is for income generation not to save lives.
  4. Twits that say I'm being unfestive because I think the Royal visit is completely devoid of interest.
  5. Ditched the wheel spacers and all shudder at 80-100kmh has gone. Pretty certain the centre bore on the ones I was sold was incorrect by 0.5mm or so. Pity, as they looked great but will try and source some better ones. Also got my mechanic to flush the brake fluid, fit s/s Goodridge lines and replace with Motul 660 fluid. Just need to get some new pads (the current ones are on their way out and the front driver's side pad is loose in the mount so it a) sounds like there's a stone chip in the caliper and b ) makes it shudder a bit under light braking. Was looking at EBC Redstuff pads (around $400 for a full set) as a good option for fast road and occasional track use. Other recommendations welcome. Also just painted a set of secondhand ACS wing mirrors which I'll fit this weekend - will go nicely with the ACS roof spoiler... And then that's it.... For a while at least. Will be nice to just maintain and not add to it for a while - I'm sure my bank manager will be pleased too. Would like to ditch the black/white roundels too but can't find any 82mm convex aluminium stickers in blue/white for the wheel caps so will have to stick with the ones I've got for now.

  8. Only 499,483 pieces to go.

  10. Drove to Kerikeri yesterday and back today. First time I've taken the 540i on a decent cruise and it ran beautifully... Overtaking ability was a little bit scary and a lot awesome especially the new trans s/w upgrade. Also finally saw some reasonable fuel consumption figures though still a long way off the reported figures from BMW (8.9L/100 highway and 17.7 urban) though our 'highways' are a long way off being like German autobahns. The other consumption figures is basically only 2 near full tanks of gas one all round town and the other Kerikeri and back - so pretty much 50/50 urban/highway and it's not too far off the BMW figure. I burn the most doing short trips from cold locally where my fuel consumption is rarely under 20L/100. Reckon replacing the injector pintles and seals might help improve the cold consumption.
  11. It's been on there for a while but no idea if that's an indicator of its condition or just that the market for these is a bit slow at the moment.
  12. I think the previous owner 'worked' on it by ripping the mufflers off. It certainly barks! Rattled our windows when you took off yesterday... My wife was impressed, Martin... Not! haha I think the sound's a bit raw at the moment - I reckon a couple of these tru x Magnaflow mufflers would sound epic and they're super cheap (these guys ship cheaply to NZ).
  13. The theory (according to Google) is that this bypasses the faulty passenger seat sensor and tricks the car into thinking there is a passenger so the airbag would deploy whether someone's there or not... The reality, who the f*ck knows? I wouldn't risk it.... Just get a new sensor.
  14. I'm sold on the spec. Not sold on the appearance.
  15. HellBM has replaced the thrust arm bushes all the way around with X5 bushes. Everything feels TIGHT! Still got a bit of a wobble at high speed - pretty certain it's the spacers - could just need a decent wheel alignment but close inspection looks like I was diddled a bit on the spacer as the centre bore looks a 0.5mm too small for the wheel which would certainly cause the shake. Something to suss out in the next few days then on to front strut top mounts. Fun!!
  16. Do it, Tom, but preferably without selling the CSL... You can keep it at my house if you need some garage space
  17. Put it in the For Sale section and add pics.
  18. Agreed but still frustrating that they don't follow best practice for improving safety just best practice for improving the bottom line.
  19. Time for new mates that aren't enablers?
  20. Yep, it's a peach! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. Okay, Josh... Any reason why as I reset the adaptions when the 740i s/w went in?
