Yep... this ^

Just out of interest, what kind of paint did you use?
-
Did a forum search but couldn't find anything so apologies in advance if this has been covered already. So the OE stuff is about $350 for the 9-10L I'll need... Will pay it if it is the best but any recommendations for a good aftermarket alternative. Google hasn't been much help - most of the recommendations don't seem to be for sale in NZ. Found this chart... Might be worth a sticky, if it's not already on here somewhere. Cheers in advance

Special car, great pic.

Which board monitor do you have 4:3 or 16:9?

Thanks Cheers Josh. I enjoy photographing cars and getting better at it all the time. It was a bit bright yesterday arvo though, if I'd had time I would have done it a little later as the sun was going down to get some cool colours and less dazzle!

Ply?! Honestly, mate, I have no idea how you do these things. Great job... Now all you need is a low level parking cam or PDC!

Most courier companies will pick up. Certainly Mainfreight will. Why not book the courier and arrange for pick up? All the seller has to do is box them.

Final polish and spoiler has remained stuck... On with the remedial. Gearbox next, then vanos overhaul.

AJ @ The Glossmaster, did a final cut and polish today with some new Scholl products. Outstanding results.

Got a linky, Brent? If not can you email some pics and I'll see if I can tempt him?

But mine is the only black 2000 E39 540i Motorsport in NZ, right?
-
Is this plastidipped? Can't say I'm a fan of the colour of the car or the wheels but it looks like an excellent job. I think a black roof would be good just to tone down the blue a bit. Not my cuppa but very nicely done.

If you're painting or wrapping don't worry about cracks in the lacquer. Really easy to sand out.

I think Josh (hybrid) mentioned that you can remap ECU to work without cats but I agree with Wayne - I'd definitely go with high flow cats if I was to do again.
-
I did it on my 528i and definitely noticed a slight improvement in performance though you probably need a proper tune to get the most benefit. It was a lot noisier inside the car without the cats but that can be a good thing! I guess potential OBC errors and more pollution are the biggest cons. Mine did pump out more smoke in lower gears after de-cat.

A friend of mine is in NZ for a year and looking for a runaround. He's got his heart set on an Audi 80 he's had a look at that seems in good nick. Wondering if anyone knows much about these cars and what common problems to look for are? Also, if anyone's got a decent 3 series sedan or wagon for $2500 or less he could be very interested. Cheers in advance.

Irrespective of gearbox this looks a great buy on paper.

Anyone else waiting on parts from BMWNZ/Germany?

Just received a second email saying my order's ready to go out. On inspection there's one item not shipping... A $4 gasket ring, I can probably stretch to getting that locally!! -

Just had an email from Schmiedmann to say they are experiencing some longer than usual delays getting parts from the manufacturer... Guess it's wait and see time. -

Yep, I ordered a bunch of gaskets from Schmiedmann. Everything they had in stock turned up in less than a week but the rest is yet to arrive. They did email me yesterday to say they hoped the rest of the order would ship this week but no confirmation yet. -

Agreed, NZ roads are generally very good until you get into very low-populated rural areas. Better upkeep here than most European countries... It's just we don't have any glamour roads like the autobahns or French (tolled) motorways. As soon as you get off the toll motorways in France it's worse than driving around Great Barrier Island!
