A 4spd any use to you? Or do you want the 5spd?
-
Well I like it
-
I still plan (job, children, wife, time, etc permitting) to get my 2002 in turbo form racing alongside the big dogs. I plan on coming dead last in A Class, given I don't have aspirations to have - or talent to drive - more than about 250hp. As long as someone, somewhere in the field drives about as quick as me it should be fun. Steve - will eventually come talk to you about a decent choice of turbo for it. Need to get it running first before worrying about that kind of detail.
-
Surely only 350+ hp? With the relevant torque figure available everywhere, all the time, of course.
-
The invite referred to 3 cars including 2 M ones, so I wonder... It's tonight, and I'm not going, so I may never know. Or I could ask my neighbour (he works there).
-
If you provide details (ie, what turbo), and "crunchy" (Steve Murch) sees the thread you will get more expertise than you could ever need.
-
Shouldn't you know?!? I'm told they are imminent (in fact, the BMW Club has an invite to a dealer for a special view of a couple of new M cars in a couple of weeks - maybe its that). I like it - ugly, frowning mouth ... but 4 doors which is a weird prerequisite forced on me by my wife.

Have a look through rot62's build thread - he fit an E30 one inside the 2002s housing. http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....mp;#entry348240

Unless its from an e21 it won't have a speedo drive. There's no way the crossmember will bolt in - the boxes are longer. I modified an e30 one on my 2002tii and it was ok, but would have been better to have fabricated one I think. I used an early e30 shift linkage etc I think - lined up fine with the gear lever hole in the 2002. I think I was able to use an e30 318i driveshaft. I have a spare e30 box, maybe flywheel / clutch / pressure plate but not the rest. Would want $300 for the box, same as westy.

A good point! I dream of them on my race car (after dreaming of it working first) so corrosion not a concern.
-
From a personal perspective, I would prefer annual (mostly because my non-daily cars its a PITA + wallet to get WOFs, given low low km driven), but "option 1" wouldn't save me as the cars are old. I'm not keen to see enforcement shifted onto police though. Plus people need a 6 monthly reminder to buy new tyres. I found this interesting (from MOT website): First thought - insurance companies not paying out if WOF not current = potentially not statistically supportable...
-
I dunno if Moton rule themselves out because of price, but they are race-team quality/performance, I believe.
-
I assume Swedish - they are just ridiculously brave on fab skills. The pic of the homemade dyno is awesome.

Wrong link, but nice car! http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-518165369.htm

I don't know whether he likes it or not (last I heard was when he arrived back in Wellington, pleased that it got there on a single tank of gas). The advert says "too many cars", which I have personal experience with...
-
It was mine - I sold it to that guy about 18-ish months ago. I really miss it, truth be told. My wife would kill me if I tried to buy it back though.
-
I so wish I had a 964 to attach these to right now.
-
Here's a very nice 4 cylinder one for sale. Would go alright despite being only 2 litre - same engine as my 2002tii so ~130hp and torquey. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=517126685

I think Mike Delmont does or knows where one is (he certainly did in the past).
-
If its like an 02 (and I assume it is, but worse), the problem is not having too much backspace or the wheel hits the strut on the inside. I suspect more than about 100mm of backspace will cause a problem - maybe try searching on e21 and offset and backspace.
-
I didn't see that touring (or I have forgotten - same outcome I suppose). The 1502 is a bit average / lots of $$$ - even if its a genuine turbo kit it its been faired in, which I always think looks odd, and the rear bumper ends are too long. Plus if its a 1502 engine it would be slow. And it needs more wheel bolts. The 2000 is interesting though - potentially would make a good candidate for a proper historic race car??
-
Can't recommend a repairer sorry. It could be a linkage issue (bushings, for example), or the gearbox cradle could be coming loose. Both are easy to check for with the car on a hoist. If its neither of those, it really only leaves problems internal to the gearbox.

Altezano - house blend or casera - three cafes in city/Symonds St/newmarket and a Mt Eden roastery. Or quite like eight-thirty (ponsonby end of k-road) on occasion although I work in the city so its not handy. Quite like Espresso Workshop too - single origin espresso is often very interesting. Have a Vibiemme Domobar (another E61 head) and Mazzer Mini, which delivers almost as good a result as you'll get anywhere. Totally worth it if you don't mind 3+ year payback, haha.
-
You can reg it as anything you like I think. It has an low vol cert plate for the engine and suspension, interestingly. Its kind of above board.
-
Given how hard it is for people to get their engine swaps to run without doing all the right EWS stuff, I assume the BMW one is quite effective. Would be interested to hear if different.
