I want an E39 540... but I'm a total BMW noob!
Boost Junky replied to vyking56's topic in General Discussion
Not too familiar with the E39 Gareth but I think ive seen often on this forum with any BMW to try find something that is not imported ex japan/singapore etc.. Also I think the cooling systems like you mentioned should be kept a close eye on. Dont see simple servicing being too much of an issue other than reseting the dash warning lights? Someone else elaborate please. -

Well you definitely are making the right choice as far as class. My mate has a E39 but just with the M52 2.8L 6cyl and I like its functions and friendly response when you drive it so the V8 should definitely pur along with adequate comfort. Hahaha yea its become all to common to my ears now also way to many turbo nissans around but I must admit I still like them. Cheers Gareth and no the bottom end should be good for between 450-550hp on the standard bottom end keeping in mind though that the motor requires decompression and descent fueling/tuning systems in place. +1 on the profile that Ashkan mentioned but I still think they look awesome I thought a 55 profile would look rude Nath but it looks good still and with some more drop its gonna look tight! Top effort bro.

Welcome Gareth! Good to see another turning to BMW Im sure you will feel welcome here and nice choice with the E39, should be nice with the 8 under the hood. What made you decide to sell the Subaru? Luke [edit] spelling -

Well there you go. So my tuner is doing a dodgy on me! I looked up the Denso number in google (195500-1370 if anyones curious) and it straight away brought up info on RX7 injectors etc...
-
Ok so I took one of the so called "RX7 550cc" injectors back to the dude I bought them off today. I stod over his shoulder and watched him test them. Over the period of 10sec doing an open flow test they flowed shy of 100cc, multiply that by 6 to get cc per min and that gives you 540-570cc per min. So that proves they are 550cc injectors so I have no idea what my tuner is upto telling me that they only flowed 60cc in 10sec which equates to 360cc per minute... Both test were done at 3.0bar. Only problem is I watched the guy test them but wasnt well aware of how he set the machine up. Could he have possibly told me he flowed them at 3.0bar but actually done it at say 4.0 for example and therefor causing them to flow at a higher rate? p.s a mate with a series four RX7 just texted me the numbers of his injectors and they match the same denso numbers on my 550cc injectors...

Welcome Adele. I bet you get some lovely looks with that sticker on the rear window on new e30

Ohh yea that thing... $$$ all to familiar to me also haha never seem to quite have enough aye! Yea Ben Wilton thats who it was. Was it when he was in marketing for Repco? He is now at pioneer autoparts.

Still amazes me how well this thing goes Riley big ups! Sound so clean too. Did you sort out a surge tank yet? My mate Kenneth has a friend called Ben in Auckland who has been in your car and he said it was pretty quick.

-
Haha that would be nice Cam heres hoping!
-
Haha yea I know Cam hence why I stated that his car motor makes a whole lot more power in its natural form these figures just back up in general that boosted BMW motors are prone for making great power on boost. I was also going to state ill probably be running more like 14-16psi.
-
Im running unsprung also gearbox makes terrible noises at low idle with clutch pedal released.
-
Nah John its the fact that they simply too small for the job. Adam Richards has a set of GTR injectors he said I can have for VERY cheap! So we are going to run with those for now, atleast it gets her on the dyno. Adam had them running 300kw in his cefiro so they should be enough for my needs. Yes Cam it would be rude not too so keen to run like 18-19psi but I might just see how we go with the GTR injectors for the time being and work my way up from there.

Whoa! The more you say the more complex it sounds and what a nightmare to tackle at the same time. Sounds like your the one to pull such an awesome feat off though and I commend you on your efforts Westy You attribute both time and patience my friend! And im positive that the final outcome is going to be absolute WIN Chur

That is so awesome, looks like there was some time spent fabricating and making that work? Even though you were in a rush haha? I commend you on the setup I know for sure how tight things are trying to fit a turbo on the right hand side of the motor as I have just done so myeslf (same turbo also). Those power figures are amazing! 8psi and your making that kind of power is incredible. Gives me a bit more excitement as to what power I acheive car gets dynoed next week. I must remind myself though that your motor is much more powerful from stock let alone a turbo attached. Looks like you have some serious plans for future modifications in mind also, should put out some wild figures mate. Any plans on the power your aiming for? How well is the rest of the car built for more power and/or are you going to address the rest of the chasis and driveline as well to compensate? Will definitely be watching this closely cant wait to see it progress Cheers, Luke

Ahh I see, yea like James said... tell them to join bimmersport. Yea what power are you making BMEP?
-
Hes from the other side of the fence John im sure. Hey BMEP im really ineterested in how you set your turbo up on the intake side of the motor? Did you have a pipe go from the standard exhaust manifold routed across to the turbo??
-
Do it John, peer pressures on! Besides its not Turbo until the turbo is bolted on so you will be the first to drive it turbd up.
