Man theres so many awesome E30 projects going on within this forum and this has to be one of the most inspiring top effort man, looking forward to seeing this develop!
-
Haha yea I went back through it not long ago and man its come along way. I cant wait either lol... Ive ran into a bit of trouble, so close but now so far! Got a phone call from my tuner today and he told me I need an RB20 Ignition driver after a few hours of riinging around my contacts (im in the automotive trade) I found one of a mate for $20 with the plug also. Thought id sorted it all out but then got a phone call at 4pm saying that the RX7 injectors id bought of someone were only flowed by my supplier at 360cc per min! Im so damn annoyed cause I dont know if i will get my $ back for them let alone come up with another $560 some brand new SARD 550cc. I guess at the end of the day there are always slight hicups like this and it will get there eventually, just hope I dont get charged more dyno time lol. Will keep you all updated Cheers, Luke

You left out.. - Fill her up with fuel to drive to New Plymouth to visit Luke and participate in "minor" thrashings of multiple E30s ps. Nath. those Borbets are gonna look so badass yooooo

Lol thanks Gaz knew it was along those lines something or rather!

It just looks like a onevia too me. Isnt it a Silvia with a 180sx front end on it (onevia) I was always under the impression that the US 240sx were equivelant to a NZ/Jap 180sx.... im wrong quite frequently feel free to correct me

With slight modifications to the gear linkage and shifter I believe. This has been asked many times on here so there should be some sort of information on it lurking around. Using a 240 or 260 on the m50 makes it sit at a slight angle. Good luck with whatever you choose mate should be a fun and interesting journey [edit] spelling

Hahha wata clown! That S13 sounds crap Damn straight John! Cant wait aye

Will do Ashkan! Would take more again but cars not available atm. Be good if I had a proper print out of my wheel alignment I think I need to fix a steering rack issue though before it gets a proper wheel alignment not sure if they did a hard out one. Andre I was going to price up E30 M3 arms just for curiosity but the BMW guy here in NP never got back to me I'd be interested to know what brand new ones are worth hah

Thats right lol.. Yea im probably going to direct some air up to that region and like Marty says to make a heat shield up either out of ali or heat sheets I can get from my gasket suppliers at work. LOL Ollie! I would probably make use for one of those if I had kept telly of how much i spent Cheers for the comments

Yes Cam it is. I looked into it and investigated as much as possible and found out that ALOT of places bend suspension arms to gain better or correct castor and that there is nothing wrong with it. Heating up control arms is a big no no though. As long as you are not bending them to the point of crackin then they should be fine.

Duplicate your tech 1 wing with a photo copier for me please Nath!
-
I used the E36 Ti rear end and E36 front hubs with E36 coilovers and just redrilled the top hats. Used Castor correction bushes plus some modifications in the press at a local alignment shop on the front control arms, now the wheels are centered nice.. will be doing a write up sometime this week.

+1 I find that method works rather well
-
This is not as bad as some of the listings on trademe man... he also said its "Blow of value" not "blow of valve" lol... What did you ask him about the chipping?
-
Whoa! I must look into buying a spare motor! Cheaper than what I was looking at spending on a 2nd hand head just over a year ago lol.. Mine made a funny knocking noise yesterday morning turned her off and it was gone.. drove it 13kms with no worries. Never know when ya may need another for example in your case.. Sux aye!
-
Read of it alot on the bimmerforums in the states aye... the one thing I dread ever doing to my m50 haha Although Mark you say your M50 was rather cheap are they comming down in price slowly? They are getting old now wouldnt suprise me. I picked my last one up for well under 1g.
-
Thanks guys! Yea looks way nicer now with everything tidied up. Just drove it 13km out to my friends house she works at the dyno tuners shes taking it to her work for me monday morning. Need to do something about the plastic rocker cover.. the wastegate pipe melted a section of it right where it comes against it, even with it heat wrapped...
-
Yea I was thinking the same thing Jamez its fair honking through that station non the less that couple are idiots!
-
Hahaha top effort wee man sure showed him whats up!
-
So tonight I spent a descent 6 hours after work on the beast performing my final tweaks and fixes as she is off to the tuners for a week on Monday Welded up a quick screamer pipe to direct my exhaust gases away from the firewall last night and wrapped it tonight. Put a brand new fuel filter in and added some penrite SIN race coolant to my radiator, which helps LOTS with cooling the motor as it has no glycol. Fixed up some melted wiring on the passangers footwell which Dad melted when we were fixing the firewall from the other side woops I also put all the carpet back to normal and dusted the damn engine bay removed all loose bolts and rubbish haha so shes all ready to go! Heres some more boring pics as you can see little has changed since last time except the wastegate pipe.. cheers guys!
-
I've always known John to have the wastegate pipe atleast a couple of feet back from the turbo before it goes back into the exhaust system.. my understanding is that this allows the exhaust gases to flow freely after the exhaust wheel providing descent flow, hence the reason to have a nice sized downpipe also. So strange that you cant fit a 2.5" downpipe in your system when I managed to fit 3" in mine and my setup looks alot tighter than yours haha!
-
Haha thats badass James! Big props on your modeling skills you should add a few pan shots so we can see what Hampton downs looks like from a higer raised angle?
-
John I was actually going to run my wastegate off the exhaust housing on my setup also, its definitely feaseable. Like Cam said though... whoever does should be very cinfident in their work be a pity to have to buy another exhaust housing etc..
