Having trouble getting an E30 boss kit. Just wondering if the E30 and E36 are the same? Cheers guys Dan

Will be rebuilding bottom end too. After a few conversations with some people yesterday I think I will just rebuild the motor back to stock. Then if I want something more powerful build up another motor. And cheers for that head rebuild guide. Much better than the bently book which seems to focus more on the M40 motor.

Well I am about to start rebuilding my 325's motor. She has been great but the camshaft and lifters are now worn out. She has been driven the way a 325 should all its life. But I am just wondering if there is any tips I can get when rebuilding the motor to get a few basic gains. I am not really keen on spending money on tuning and having the ecu chipped though. I just want a strong motor that is smooth and enjoys a good track day. Of course I will be replacing most things with brand new items and be getting the head and block checked by the pros. I did look at going 2.7 or 2.8 but by the looks of things the ecu would need to be chipped and tuned. And the parts are hard to come by.

I own a No.1 and No.3 and my No.2 was stolen. lol Also a Nissan 200sx at No.4 is a Silvia. Just a NZ new one. God I wish drifting had never taken off here. Frameless doors makes the Slivias easy pickings though.

OMG he sprays the brand new bonnet with cans. lol. Brand new bonnet was only 69 quid though. Is only primer. But still.

An F20C is over $6000 with box and loom last time I checked with Strongs. The RB20 is a dog. If you are going to put an RB in the E30 go for the slightly more expensive RB25. But even a stock RB25 will get raped by a stock SR20. If you want to stay 6 cylinder then I suggest you look at the much better 1JZGTE from Toyota. They are a far better motor all round than the RB20/25. Their bottom end is bullet proof. Have heard they hold well over 500hp on stock bottom end. There is a few versions of the 1jzgte. The better one to go for is the 2nd Gen Single Turbo with VVT from the JZ100 Chaser. Or you can go for the twin turbo version from the Soarer. Should also mention that the 1JZ has one of the best sounding exhaust notes. None of that underwater burbling the RB's make.

After the stock E30 airbox and all its bolts and clips. Wont pay much for one if anything. Someone must have one taking up space in the garage. Cheers Dan 0211887733

Typical of New Zealanders. "You can't rip the finger at me just cause I was in the wrong and nearly made you crash!!! I will kill you!!" I think everyone needs to be brought down a level on NZ's roads.

Not sure if this has been posted before. But it is worth a look anyway. http://www.supercarforums.co.uk/chatforum/...asc&start=0

Yes that was on the old PFL dipped beams. Which I do not recomend obviously. The FL projector type dipped beam solved this.

I was just giving an opinion that my lights don't "Dazzle" oncoming drivers. Once again. The Bimmersport smart ass know it alls just can't keep their pointless comments to themselves. Thanks Apex. Thanks for the links elmarco I did read a while ago on a US site who were selling HID kits for E30's that they use modified facelift dipped beam units. They were stated to be legal in the states. Could have differant laws though. I wonder if I purchased some of these units they would be legal. Even know it is what I already have.

Well I see alot more than I did with the dangerous PFL E30 stock setup. And sitting my E30 next to my Dads E55 merc there is Bugger all differance between them. Infact his are a little brighter on the eyes but dont light up the road any better. However if you install HID's into the stock PFL E30 glass they do not work very well. Still better than stock. But seem to just project the light in all different directions. The facelift projector lights work very well. I have asked mates who have passed me on dark twisty roads if my lights were bright or distracting. They are apparently no brighter than other lights. Just a better looking color. Also have had no trouble with Police. Going for a WOF this week too. Bet there is no questions asked. Does anybody have a copy of the rule thats states they are not to be fitted?

Sweet would be awesome to build something like that at tech. BTW. A pod filter is not always an upgrade. A few BMW forums have proven the stock box with a panel filter to be the best. Have a play around.

Got the HID's for $100 off trademe. And they are not bad at all. If you want him to sus the lights out for you pop into Hope Hickman Auto Electricial, Basement 17 Union St Auckland Central Auckland. And ask for Brendon. Or just give them a call. He knows what to do and doesn't take him long. 09-379 9425 You can't miss the building. It is right at the very top of union street. Good honest family business. http://yellow.co.nz/companies/Spark-Plugs/...91481_1527.html

Wonder if I am related and have the same racing blood. Mines spelt Rollason though.
-
If you have any please let me know. Even more interested if they are still all attached to a motor so I can figure out where they all go. Getting sick of this guessing game. Cheers Dan 0211 88 77 33

Bet it couldn't pull sweet jumps like Pedro's SledgeHammer.

You guys should really look at getting HID's. They are much much better. My mate Brendon at Hopehickman can install them very quickly. Did mine today. They are not so good on the PFL E30 lights though. But great on the facelift ones. E36 should be fine. Paid $100 for my H1 HID kit off Trademe. Brendon thinks I got the mean deal. Meaning that they are not the crap chinese ones he thought I was going to give him.
-
Just installed my facelift projectors and HID's today. Took my autosparky mate about 30mins total. So stoked. Were free. I think my wiring would not help though. As it has been altered for the HID's. Which are soooooo much better than the normal bulbs. H1 HID's are dirt cheap too. Let me know if you want me to check what goes where.

Yeah thats what I am going to get done.

Yar I saw the V8 utes on Tv last weekend and thought oooo the BMWs raced that weekend too. So I sat and watched patiently. But alas. They only covered the V8's and then onto bike racing somewhere overseas.

Bloody Poms. Haha. You almost expect to see horses on Point View. Bet you will spot him again too. You could also sneak up behind him with a nice air horn. Might aswell make use of your horse too. Poo pushed into his aircon vents and under his door handles. Also a not so subtle clue as to who did it.

Could have got it cheap through Glenn at Botany Motorworx anyway.
