Firm supporter of powder coating in the engine bay. I coated my rocker covers in my race cars and I don't think I ever had a scratch or chip. And they were off and on regularly. I actually coated my cast exhaust manifold with a ceramic coating. Looked great. Never failed. Actually think it reduced heat.

I would actually say you are better off buying one that is aesthetically pleasing to you. Then doing all the basics early even if they may have been done before. Gaskets Water Pump + Hoses Full fluids service Brakes Suspension including all bushes Vanos control Cam Position sensors Make that part of your budget. You might get lucky as on a very rare occasion NZ owners keep receipts of the work done. Most of that stuff above is actually pretty well priced. Places like spareto.com have many options from BMW genuine to brands you thought made washing machines.

Anyone dealt with replacing the vanos bolts? I didn't know they were an issue until recently. Wish I had known while I had the rocker cover off. Though it's not a major to remove it again. Also working on this shitbox is a Rollercoaster. Found the fuel vent sensor was not connected.. Though reconnecting it still gives the same code so it needs replacing. Replaced my exhaust vanos control valve which actually made my issue worse. But I didn't test the new Hella branded one and I think that's my problem. Or the vanos bolts. Changed to the Style 386. Not great looking. But better than stock. Neglected 130s are fun.

"Some drip marks on the back seat leather that I haven’t gotten around to cleaning off" Ummm. Also the clear coat coming off means she's probably had a frontal.

I always buy a couple at this price as I have 3 cars that use it. Two cars that take 6+ltrs and one that takes 8.5ltrs. You go through it quick.

Yeah nice.

Oh nowhere near as bad as I thought. I should get it done. As a can almost guarantee it will decide to fall down on me half way when I least want it to.

What's a job like that worth? My black 130 of course has this issue. Held up with push tacks. Also need to recover the steering wheel. Though this car may just end up being stripped out at some stage depending if the wife enjoys it on track.

I picked up some cheap Style 386 on the weekend. They look like this. Okay I guess. Better size than the 207's. 225/40 and 245/35 which is the same as my white 130 on style 269's.

If you are doing it yourself find the gear in the US. You may need to join the East/West Coast BMW parts pages. I was seeing manual swaps or whole cars being stripped every other day over there. Though the boxes have become popular for LS swaps.

Costco tyre shop hours. Opening Hours Mon-Fri 10:00am - 8:30pm Sat 9:30am - 6:30pm Sun 10:00am - 6:00pm I can't even get any shop down here to do anything after 2pm. Let alone on a Sunday... I miss Costco.

Would like to buy Michelins. But the Merc eats them way too quick when towing. So I just run Hankook's. I like Hyper as I didn't have to deal with a human trying to convince me into buying Farroads for my E55 at the local tyre shop for a good price of $350 per tyre...

Tyre prices. What happened to the good sales? Most I am seeing is 25% off. Even Hyperdrive the Briscoes of the Tyre world has crap deals now. A brand that I was buying is now at least 25% more for a set. That is a rough increase.

Is This Where The E30 Market Is Now..?
Driftit replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in TradeMe discussions
I still hold onto the only reason E30's, S13's, R32's etc were good was because they were cheap. Sorry to those that missed those 20 odd years. -
40% off deal on some oils including Castrol 5-30 LL if you are still using that. Not that great anymore as the standard price of it has gone up. https://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/oils-fluids-filters/engine-oil?prefn1=id&prefv1=359325|666285|293837|631766|518962#primary

On a level back from this I have been having copilot write me code for automotive gauges using Arduino. Works quite well. Just have to get some decent LCD's that are the size I want. Kinda cool for the 200sx as the LCD's look quite retro. I have just been using some from work to test on. I watched a video recently of someone building a LCD dashboard from scratch to replace his Mitsi Starion digital dash. Looking at how simple the MAPECU is in my E34. More modern code should be able to handle that junk easily.

No the oil goes to 50% off often at both Supercheap and Repco. Keep an eye here for the oil deals If you see one post it up.

Cheers. Was just looking at a listing on FB marketplace. Might still be an okay deal having to buy one new tyre. https://www.facebook.com/share/HiThE8ih8LFaW1au/

Not at all. But then you read comments like this... Just wanted to say what a lovely e30 factory example very clean , cannot believe it hasn’t sold yet at a very reasonable price . Best of luck with the sale someone will get a great investment for the future 👍🏻 -
What tyre sizes are those with the Style 207 rims running? I see they are meant to be 205/50 and 225/45. Wondering if I just find some wheels like on my other 130i which are 18" style 269 which are 8 and 8.5's. I feel like the 17's are just too narrow for a 130. Comparison between my 130 with 17's and my 130 with 18's.
