  1. Agree. I raced with Peter and Graham from P&S. They know their stuff and look after at least a good third of the entire BMW race series cars.
  2. Welcome. Make yourself a coffee and sit and read the 130i post for a few hours/days. Ton of info in there about the problems we have all had with our 130's. Tons of upgrade info too. Once you sort your oil leeks (I still have oil leeks on both of mine) look at upgrading the coolant connections to the engine block. Easy job. Keep asking questions. 1000's of hours of working on these cars between us all.
  3. Could have potential. I guess the idea has come from Mazda who are looking to have light weight rotary range extenders. A Hybrid that pulls up to the lights with its peripheral port pulsing away would be a good laugh.
  4. That car wouldn't be considered an IS aka as a Sport. Unless the decoder I used is wrong you don't have the LSD option and the vehicle is Auto. It just has Motorsport options.
  5. I'll start really looking into it. I have other gearbox tasks for the E34 and Merc E55 I am also working on right now so I will pick up a gearbox jack asap to make things easier. I had the manual box out of the other 130i recently which was a pretty quick job. Good chance to do the rear main and guibos. Is any programming needed?
  6. I'm actually quite keen on this myself John. My commuter 130i had its box serviced at some stage by someone that did not fill it correctly. Caused the dredded low speed shudder. I sorted the shudder but the box changes pretty harshly sometimes and often "slips" going up a gear from 2nd to 3rd. I would probably go with the ZF6 for this car. As I already have a manual 130i for the fun stuff. I was also just looking at the S55 DCT adapter for my M30 in the E34 too.
  7. I have a bare staggered set. No throwing stars. What are you looking to pay for a set?
  8. QQL2 is on a Rolls now which had the plate GHO57. So must have been a BMW Demo car?
  9. Mates at a wedding. Nice bridal car.
  10. I was probably one of those delivering the rental car to your door in the early 2000's. I had a mini motorbike I would throw in the boot. Deliver the car then ride my motorbike to pick up another. Was a sweet gig. At night I would bring cars down to central London from Milton Keys at a very very rapid pace. We had a couple of RS6's as VIP delivered within 30min specials.

    Quick rant thread.

The new Burn Your Dollars Shark 6. A 2700kg EV Ute with a GVM of exactly 3500kgs to avoid it being a Light Commercial Truck. It will pay the same RUC as a Nissan Leaf. They arrived in country this week.
  12. I don't think my riding gear will ever not smell of it after that run. They have announced next years run and it should be huge.
  13. Good question. It doesn't make sense. I must have been thinking something and typed that instead. But I can't remember what I was meant to type now..
  14. Yet I would still rather hang out with those dickheads over the current social media nepotists somehow.
  15. I was seriously looking into an S85 + DCT for my E34 before I moved back to NZ. My issue became having space to collate the parts and strip vehicles from co-part. And then I wasn't sure if there would be anyone back here that could help. Especially down in the lower North Island. I would still love to do it. But not with the $ at where it is. Nor would I buy the parts in NZ where a DCT costs the same as an entire car from co-part. So I will just putt around with the M30 for a bit.
  16. I am going to go with B12's or similar for my commuter once she reaches 200k. So prob another 4 months'ish. Where did you pick yours up from? Did you still just go with fronts only? I plan to do a full set and so far spareto looks to be the cheapest with shipping.
  17. Non car things over the weekend. Small bikes instead. Massive amount of fun. Syds Run 2024 in Christchurch. A charity run for leukemia in the name of the guy who started this event. Syd. 560 odd scooters and small CC bikes. I've been two years in a row now. Syds 100th Birthday (RIP) would have been next year. They reckon there is going to well over 600 bikes this time. Buy a sh*t bike, chuck on your battle jacket and join the fun. Live your Pest Life. I have a 1978 Yamaha Chappy LB80 which is a laugh.
  18. Spareto.com has nearly all the same parts as ECS and FCP however spareto's shipping is usually more realistic. I think the build thread for that car is on here somewhere. Should be good fun.
  19. They chase you for plates these days. If the car is de-registered or re-registered they want the plates back. If you don't hand them back in you get a $200 fine.
  20. I actually have no idea what that would cost. But I do know that I couldn't afford the cars I have if I had to have a mechanic do the work.
  21. This is really apparent on Reddit r/bmw r/mercedes Many of the posts are about interior LED lights and other absolute junk like door projectors that we use to buy from supercheap in the early 2000's. Gone are the days of soft ambient interior lighting. Now you get RGB lighting like a bloody teenagers computer case.
  22. They are a pretty good car with one of BMW's most reliable engines. What other Gaskets have been done? Sump, valve cover, oil cooler and oil filter housing gaskets all leak on these motors. If you are a DIY'er they are all easy. The sump does take some extra effort though. The Water pump is something to keep an eye on. Many swap these out at around 150K kms. Example Kit: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-water-pump-replacement-kit-n51-n52-n52n-oem-11517586925kit The plastic coolant hose fittings to the front of your engine are the next thing you should look to replace. The plastic becomes brittle. Many of us here have had it fail. Replace it with an Aluminum flange hose. Example Hose: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-coolant-hose-with-flange-rein-11537545890 Service the gearbox and diff. The lifetime oils are a load of BS. With the gearbox it is really important to follow the correct procedure. Check the guibo's on the driveshaft for cracking too. I absolutely loved my 530D E60. It had done over 200K kms and was still mint.
  23. Welcome. It is exactly why we try and keep this forum going. As people move away from Facebook all that information is lost. Enjoy the F11
  24. Interesting take from someone in the supercar scene. I absolutely despise much of the new tech in current vehicles. Distracting, gimmicky and already out of date.
  25. To be the downer I bet this will go to a dealer who will half ass restore it purely for profit. Would have been better to pick who you want it to go to.
