I wouldn't want a manual in mine, the SMG is (usually) better at changing gears than i am, and if i decide i want to take control i still can. Not that i couldn't drive it with a manual, but i don't think it would add anything to the experience, the SMG is fine once you get used to it and if you use it properly.

Mine gets about 18.5 L/100k, i take it to BMW for servicing but expect to spend a bit with them. I only down shift if i am using manual mode, if it's in D i let it do the work.

Drivers side is ok, passengers has a couple of stone chip / spider cracks and is very slightly cloudy.

It might be worth slightly more but is it worth $15-20K more? i personally don't believe so, if i had the option of this NZ new example or my UK import i would make the same decision again. Also, the rust myth is just begging to be taken out and put down, I have seen NZ new cars with major rust at a few years old and my UK M5 didn't have a spot of rust on or under it when i got it at 8 years old.

Welcome, I have the much more practical E61 M5 wagon. I think Brent @BM WORLD has an aftermarket exhaust for sale, try PMing him.

Damn, they broke the good end!
-
I might do that on the M5, easier than taking a holesaw to the mufflers!

It looks like there is a repair loom available, i will be making enquiries about them next week. It is actually pretty easy to get at once you know how, but in the meantime i have made it functional and it should last a little while at least. I am also expecting that the other side will need doing.

Cut, soldered, heat shrinked, and taped my afternoon away, sacrificed an old E39 wing mirror loom, finally the tailgate glass opens again!!
-
Found this delightful mess in the M5 tailgate wiring, 4 exposed wires and 1 completely snapped, i'm surprised anything back there was still working!! I guess that's the rest of my weekend ....

the smelter uses enough power for something like 700,000 homes and has 4 lines. Gets its power from Manapouri.
-
I'm pretty sure shutting down a line at Tiwai Pt smelter will free up more than enough capacity, especially if most of the charging is done overnight!

Good study, not applicable in NZ, different mix of renewable/fossil energy, also takes a lot more energy to get fossil fuels to us here. I also plan on doing more than 150,000 Km in my leaf before i take it out to the back paddock and put it down!
