  1. I have added a Dension bluetooth module for streaming music so I get the notifications through the stereo if my phone is connected.
  2. I have the DVD nav working in my ex UK e61 and it is a very dated system now, I prefer to use Google maps on my phone.
  3. +1 timber is for furniture, give me brushed aluminum any day.
  4. Just why even bother.... https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/maserati/auction-1979830534.htm?rsqid=14e380c101fd417f921a2b8ebbb2884d
  5. I think it is a case of death by a thousand cuts, the surface area of the bearings is quite small, presumably for packaging reasons when they designed the motor, there is a very small tolerance between the bearings and crank, the motor happily revs to over 8k rpm, the condition based servicing has the oil changes out to 20000km intervals, and it is a naturally aspirated 500 hp motor built to a price point set by company accountants. Also, because it has 10 cylinders and a seven speed gearbox in a North - South orientation and the letter S and numbers 8 and 5 in its name it has terrible feng shui. I believe it can be improved with mirrors... ?
  6. Mine often runs for quite a while after a long run in warm weather or if I have driven in manual mode (it tends to rev a lot higher in manual mode ?) my oil temp also nudges 100 quite regularly but doesn't go above that. Castrol 10w60 always in mine.
  7. I assume the next step is fitting an //M badge? ? Looks a heap better!
  8. Why would they bother driving all the way there and NOT take it? Seems crazy to me. I have cut up several bodies with a recipro saw and grinder (car bodies, honestly!) and taken them to scrappies on my trailer, usually just covers the petrol cost to drive there but how else are you going to get rid of them!
  9. So you mean if the thermostat is open then fixing it will improve the economy, I misunderstood you first time around!
  10. How does it reach temp faster with the coolant circulating through the radiator?
  11. Also if you put it back together without the clock spring and steering rack both centered. the next time you turn full lock it will ruin your clock spring!
  12. Trade parts 151 Wairau rd, North shore

the real scary stuff will be when machines no longer need humans to teach / control / program them. Once AI is learning for itself it will very quickly out perform humans in whatever field it happens to be in, that is when we will see some quite highly skilled members of the workforce no longer required, but i think (hope) it is still a while before that will become commonplace.
  14. Something "fishy" perhaps?
  15. OK, worse reputation might be a bit overboard, but that V8 should be bulletproof and it just isn't, if i am going to have to do an expensive rebuild every 100,000 km then i would much rather spend my money on the V10.

I expect aspects of my job will be done by software/ AI / robots, but i am not worried about being made redundant, i have a very diverse job description that involves everything from answering the phone to maintenance and repairs on machinery, product development, troubleshooting, quality control, driving and more, it would require several very capable and expensive technologies to replace one worker, just doesn't add up. By the time it becomes cost effective i hope to be retired anyway!
  17. The V8 has a worse reputation than the V10, then they supercharged It......no thanks!
  18. And yet a couple of years ago It took me a year to sell mine, and only 2 people test drove it!
  19. No, but have you seen how narrow the tyres are? Its a bit concerning that a car that cost north of $70k a few years ago is now uneconomic to repair because of fairly minor damage. I wonder how long it will take the insurers to catch on and bump the premiums accordingly?
  20. Replaced the expansion tank in the M5, including the rubber mount that had mysteriously disappeared.....
  21. There is a good chance yours is knackered at that mileage, but probably still useable, i would plan on doing it at the same time because if it is shot you will have no car until the part arrives and have to pay more shipping.
  22. Can i change my vote? Definitely get this!!
