  1. Put a msport front bumper on the e36, got a silver one, to match the drivers door!
  2. Pull all of the crap out of the boot and check for water......
  3. Its because they are so reliable, right?
  4. In my experience the tyre wear on my lowered e36 is not anywhere near the same ballpark as the wear on my stock height e39, I was replacing 2-3 sets of rear tyres for every set of fronts and the most drastic improvement by far was after changing to a higher load rated tyre, im not saying it will make up for worn bushes or bad alignment, but for me there was no downside.
  5. Care to share how you set up your e39 to get rid of that uneven wear? I am genuinely curious.
  6. Whatever you get make sure it has a high load rating (100+), the rear suspension in the e39 will chew out the inside corners pretty quickly otherwise.
  7. These are all new, genuine parts, most still in original packaging, can put up photos if you need but dont really want to unwrap stuff and photos of packaging are not much use! All free, if you want me to ship stuff, you pay for that. Firewall on a totalspan/steel garage is a bit of a PITA, but not impossible, fireline gib inside and out on the offending wall and about 400 return on the 2 adjoining walls, and no penetrations, windows etc. Water main shouldnt be a big issue.

My consumption sits at 18.5 ! But I am pretty sure the touring uses more gas because it has more awesome to move around!!
  11. All rims 17 x 8, all tyres same size.
  12. Sweet, obviously had some suspension work too!
  13. New battery in, 14.14 volts at terminals with engine running, all wierd stuff stopped!
  14. Probably, sold to a woman In the 'naki.
  15. replaced battery, IACV, and alternator belt idler pulley in the e36, runs like new again! Now i just have to swap in the purple tag steering rack....
  16. after some investigationing with my trusty multimeter, the battery looks a bit sad (11.6V) but since it just had a 20min run down the motorway i suspect the alternator is not doing what i pay it to do, so there are my plans for the weekend!
  17. So, this afternoon my e36 developed all of the electrical gremlins ! Radio turned off, then on, then off, then on etc ABS light started flickering then came on, then went off then flickered etc indicators (yes, i use them!) blinking at weird speeds and speeding up when i put the brakes on When i turned on the heater fan the dash died, when i turned off the fan the dash lived again brake fluid warning light came on car ran perfectly the whole time, but when i got home the window height had reset so it thought it was up but it wasn't any ideas, experiences, random suggestions (preferably related to the issue, but i'm not precious!) ?? car is 94 NZ new PFL 318is coupe, ignition switch was new a year ago and battery is ok as far as i know....
  18. Mine was 7k for timing chain and guides, rings and bearings, gaskets etc, no vanos work. I took motor out and gave it to the mechanic, diy would be cheaper but you would need timing tools etc.
  19. Have done the sunroof drains, but will check around the spoiler. Parked on the flat, looks like everything has survived after being dried out overnight, some of the modules looked like they had been wet before!!
  20. All dried out and back together, seems to be fine, fingers crossed! I will remove the other plasic plug and clean the well properly then give it a coat of cavity wax before I put everything back in. Now I just have to track down where the water is getting in......
  21. Not sure, I am drying out the modules then will refit and see what works!
  22. My best in the 318 is 7.3, but I give it more jandal than miss M will. Sounds about right for lots of open road runs.
  23. It doesnt appear to make any difference.
  24. After the weather bomb filled the boot of the wagon with water and seems to have killed 2 modules, I might have to install a bilge pump!! In the meantime I have knocked out the plastic caps that have no ability to let water drain out! Nice one BMW.
