I use a bench grinder with a wire brush wheel, takes everything off and you get pretty quick at it after a few, just dont let go!

Im trying to remember from when I did the clutch in my 540, im pretty sure the 420g is a bit smaller than the auto bellhousing, have you managed to source a box yet? It might help to have it for getting the motor placement correct.
-
Im using a cheapish omni clear from car colours, have also used autothane 2k and had decent results with both.

Bring your welder and hemet over when you pick up your next lot of powdercoating if you want, I can give you some pointers. Dont do the engine mounts yourself, I think you will find the cert stipulates who can weld those.

You shouldnt need to sand between the base coat and clear coat, just allow about 5 minutes to dry between. Are you using 2 pak clear or single pack?
-
Im around most evenings and weekends, just pm me when the part arrives and we can sort something.

Doesnt worry me, can do either. A bit easier to keep the heat input low with the tig though. When do you need it done?

I can help. What thickness is the ms part?

Fuel Is about 19.2 L/100, oil Is more like 1L every 3000Km.
-
I would be stoked If my m5 got 17.5 L/100 but It doesnt use anywhere near that much oil.
-
I have got some from signwriters in the past, and quite often pieces are for sale on trade me, I assume you will be getting fake carbon fibre?

If the temp isnt getting out of the blue zone it will be running a bit rich, also the wagons are heavier and thirstier anyway. I think this is the model that BMW developed the tailgate wiring loom problem for, but its probably been sorted by now.

Ah, the irony. Coming from CHCH to AKL to look for cars and a nice candidate on trademe is listed as being in AKL but is actually in CHCH!

If youre going to live In It you really want a touring.

Lie the drum down with the tap at the top when not using it, trick for new players- make sure the lid is on properly first!

At this price you can afford to have a spare one!

Don't see these come up often!! M5 E61 TOURING 2007 - Akld

All of these conditions also apply to petrol and diesel, NZ imports 100% of its fuel, and none of it arrives here without any environmental impact. I use my M5 wagon for everything you mentioned except the dog, I dont have one, and winning a traffic light drag race with a trailer load of builders mix on the back does make me smile. -

environmental payback takes time, but for an i/c engine car there is no environmental (or financial) payback, so still worth doing for some people. I still wouldn't have one as my only car, but a Leaf and an M5 seems like a good compromise to me! -

I confess its me! Fact is I love my E61 M5, but if i drive it to work every day it costs me $130 / week, if I do the same driving in a Leaf it costs me $7/week, and it means I will appreciate the drives I do use the M5 for so much more! -

This is the same money I paid for mine 2 years ago, but this one has the soft close doors. I have to close my doors myself like some kind of peasant!!! -
In my experience the genuine (from BMW) ones last much longer befor they start looking rubbish so are the best value anyway, have had knock off ones fade and flake after 3 months.

The F10 has more bearable fuel consumption, but not enough to make up for the depreciation hit you will take buying one now. E60 has had the worst of its.
