  1. what fuel do you use? my m5 does it as well and i suspect ionic current detection module is dying (or dead) but i don't think yours has one? I find mine seems to come and go with gas from different suppliers, but haven't managed to nail down which one (if any) is causing the issue for sure yet.
  2. i have one, just a cheapy from trademe but you are welcome to borrow it.
  3. At least the S engines give you some reward for all your $$.
  4. The motorsport (non m3) swaybar is a bit thicker and fits with the standard shocks, but if you need new shocks as well changing to the m3 setup makes sense. I suspect that new shocks will also make a huge difference given the mileage.
  5. You know its going to need work, save the cost of the inspection and spend it fixing it up. Just my 2 cents.
  6. I have one, do you need the drive housing as well or just distributor?

I might try and avoid having a head on collision in my e36....
  8. I might have a spare, will have a look tomorrow.
  9. Tried to txt, Is that number right?
  10. productive long weekend, pulled my custom headers off the e36 and re-routed the pipe for cylinder 2 so it doesnt tap the steering shaft in left hand corners anymore, fitted the purple tag rack and new power steering hose and tie rods, fitted the leather rear side interior trims that have been lying around for a year or so, went to pick a part and got a complete wiring harness to move the battery to the boot, as well as some trims that need replacing, and re-attached the front number plate that fell off !!
  11. new bilsteins in the front of the e36, sits about 30mm higher now because the old (possibly original) shocks were absolutely knackered, they were pulling the car down by at least 20mm !! Handles better, much less body roll, and only slightly harder ride.
  12. im on the shore, tomorrow is no good for me, but thursday or friday evening is fine. 021 633590
  13. How many you want? I should have a few spares.
  14. Pulled the front struts out of the e36, ready for a nice shiny pair of bilsteins to go in, then it rained.
  15. Followed my wagons slightly dirtier cousin into Carls jr on Paul Mathews rd, had to park up and get a photo.
  16. Not sure if your car has this but in the e39 I could turn the traction control half off, so it would apply the brakes but not cut the power when you had wheelspin. If you have a setting like that it is probably a good compromise, Depending on how serious you want to get a tyre pressure gauge might also be a good idea.
  17. My first thought was dead coil, as Brent said check for spark next time it dies.
  18. No it seems now we get some POS ute with wrecking balls tied to the bumpers on a merry go round!! Health and safety is ruining everything!
  19. The alternator was from a wagon R or something similar, starter was from a civic, not sure what model, and I had to cut and weld the housing.
  20. I jumped the fence and fitted a suzuki alternator to my M10B20 for my e21, was nearly half the weight, also fitted a honda starter motor, saved somewhere around 4Kg doing both!!
  21. I suspect the dealer will have no recollection of saying that if you ever have a problem with it !!
  22. The one In the M5 Is fine and It has been very thoroughly tested!
