  1. I understand that you need to have certification to weld anything regarding WOF issues as well. Although its not too hard to get that certification by doing the right courses. I'm suprised to hear that mitre 10 offer bottles, do you think it would be possible to go back and inquire about this as it hasnt been 7 days yet since I bought the welder?
  2. Im going to take a drive just to see this. (Even thought I live a good hours drive away from the tunnell) North through the south tunnel... must have been one hell of a night
  3. What about waterpump? Do these models whistle once the seals fail?
  4. elmarco - I wouldnt go trusting me with your welds that quickly You never know what might fall off! Will have a look at Supagas instead of BOC, they sound much friendlier anyhow... I bought a starweld sw1000 - I had a good look into many different options and I ended up just going to Mitre10 mega and buying an entry level welder, because in all honesty I have no idea just how much I will use it, it will do everything I need it to. I couldn't justify some of the nice big welders I looked at! Price tags were nice and sparkly too lol. I'll let you know how it goes as I dont have gas yet, will let you know what I think of it!
  5. Or a mini! - Have heard of it done once...
  6. Thanks all, I will look into the suggested stuff, I'm not sure how much of a hassle BOC is to setup with, I may go in to have a chat and see if I cant swing an account Mike - The fire extinguisher... please tell me it was EMPTY first!? Will look into Argon, cheers sammy. Thanks elmarco, I've done quite a bit of welding already in my time, just never actually owned a mig welder therefore never had to buy the gas lol, (never thought to ask about it either) I'm not doing anything structural.
  7. Hi everyone, I have recently acquired a new gas Mig/Mag welder. I can of course use this without gas but that's no where near as good and as strong as with the shielding gas. I have always used other peoples or workshop welders and they were all already setup. So my question is, where does one purchase the gas for a mig welder, and hire a bottle? I called BOC gas seeing as they have all that, but they require an account which I do not have. Also they threw me off track a little bit because they asked what thickness I would be welding, as I cant predict the future I did no know yet, just told them general automotive things. Does the thickness of the metal have anything to do with the gas? Is there a different type of gas? Or was he asking simply in regards to quantity (IE Thicker steel needs more gas?) I am only after a small bottle as I wont be using it all THAT much, according to BOC there are three types, knee high bottles (the one I need), waist high, and head height. Any info would be great! Thanks all. A.

    Happy birthday Simon!
  9. Amen to that Simon - When we missed each other at the go kart meet last year you drove past me just as I was leaving and it was like vrooom! But it sounds soooooo gooooood. All those cylinders...

Ahh I see, well the b25 throttle is quite a bit larger than the b20 one and that must surely be helping it along now. I dont know about you but I would consider the b25 a reasonably fast motor, sure it does not compare to most things that have a big hair dryer coming out the side, but they dont look anywhere NEAR as good as e30s and no way as good as your touring, I reckon its the best of both worlds.
  11. Very nice looks fantastic. Crash bars are a great great thing The R80 has a modified exhaust, the last guy who owned it had it built so that its not a twin exhaust and instead merges into one on the right hand side. Makes a beautiful sound, I'm unsure if this achieved anything other than aesthetics and sound though lol. Have just rebuilt both carbs and last week it went in for a tune which worked wonders. Was looking at another r80 that has had the oil cooler integrated into the front of the casing, an interesting mod... but probably a bit surplus to road riding.
  12. Thats our current BMW family. E30 and the good old R80 - A total dream to ride, my favourite of all the bikes I've ridden. We own 3 bikes. The R80, a Yamaha SR250, and a 40 y/o Gemini 2 stroke pit/mini bike.
  13. Ah I see sorry mis-understood. But still good that you caught the bastard.
  14. As per title. Was removed due to fitting a new motor. Currently the head is separate from the block and one of the head bolts has snapped conveniently right above the block so its almost flush. Easy enough to drill a small hole through and the use a GOOD quality bolt extractor to remove. Will come with everything it needs to go. Motor has done 167000 exactly. (Yes I drove until I hit that number because I'm crazy) Motor burnt or leaked no oil and blew no smoke. Relatively good k's for its age, and I always looked after it well. Questions welcome. $100 taken away. Cheers, Alex. Edit - Pics on request.
  15. Sounds good David. Sounds better than good actually. Will be going to him sometime this year after seeing those sorts of results, the only thing that put me off after we had our talk last year, was when I called him to ask about prices he said it would estimate around $1000! So I decided to wait, but to hear he is time based now sounds good.
  16. Too add - I use redline high performance ATF, it is g3 fully synthetic, available from BNT. It doesn't have to be the high performance version but I thought my old gearbox deserved the best
  17. Holy crap, thats nuts, sorry to hear about this Glenn, and Osiris. However its GOOD to hear you've tracked them down, I hope you get this all sorted out and the fella gets what he's owed. - Customs/police waiting at the airport upon return hmm hmm???

Looks awesome, I like it alot, its not so bad once the bills are behind you, its only hard at the time of spending I'm a little confused, you fitted a larger 325 throttle body? But did you not recently fit a 325 motor? Or were you still running the old throttle?
  19. Yes, 325's are better than m42's. Yes beige leather is the shiznit. Nice buy, amazing how cheap they are.. if only we could get that sort of pricing over here... hmmmm

    Issue

How exactly did they get all your details like full name, postal address and all the info that is required to change ownership of a vehicle? Sounds dodgy to me! I'd ring Carfax or the post office and ask them to check who has made any recent checks on your number plate or ownership details, seeing as this would give them all the info they needed, they are able to do this for reasons such as this. Then forward the info to the police? Or to the seller, or have a look for yourself and THEN forward it to the police.
  22. Yuss! Pre facelift for the win! I like it alot, I especially love the wheels. Congrats on the buy!

    My New Project

Yesss I love it These are badass!
  24. I once read, and I'm 95% sure that it was just beer talk, that the early m20b20 I think pre 85 flywheel was lighter than the post 85. Has anyone heard this before or can verify? I thought I'd chuck it in here because its relevant.
  25. That is f**king unbelievable. Lock them up and throwing away the key.
