  1. An airblock would normally cause a car to overheat fully, ie needle goes all the way up, steam (if you dont turn it off early enough) the whole shabang. Have you checked that your thermostat is functioning properly and is opening at the right temperature?

    Spotted: Bmw Z1

I've never even heard of these! I like the idea of the doors, kinda cool in an exclusive kinda way
  3. Davids right, airblocks come in many ways! And that spring is simply the tensioner spring that pushes against the pulley to tighten your cambelt, theres only one way it can go back on. My 327 had a slight bend in a hose which gave me HUGE issues, if you did read that thread my car was over heating till the cows came home, I eventually let it sit for a few days, and re-routed all hoses, then I filled the car up with water by each hose, doing a lot of squeezing and listen so that the water made its way through the block and all the hoses BEFORE I started the car, this was I was also able to bleed a lot of the air out before I got it going. Once this was done, the car started and bled without an issue. Its not he first time I've had a bitchy m20 to bleed, they are a pain in the ass! Edit: if its only running a little bit higher than normal that sounds more like a viscous coupling has gone in your fan.
  4. Close the bleed screw and pump until the cows come home, pressure should eventually start to build up, from there begin to bleed it properly. On the bad side of things, you may have a broken slave/master cylinder thats not pumping up the pressure or has an internal leak!
  5. I agree with that I couldn't for the life of me get rid of my m20b20 their EVERYWHERE. If I were in your position, I would investigate a few other avenues before throwing in the towel, check out the cost to upgrade 325i, depending on your knowledge you may be able to do some work yourself, or simply replace it with a new (second hand) 2.0 motor. Is the workshop sure that damage was caused? Sometimes if you turn the motor off straight away after the cambelt has snapped there is no damage, but this would still involve removing the head off the motor and investigating. Either way make sure you check it all out!
  6. Happy Birthday, remember out here in the west happy hour started at 8:00am!
  7. Damn that looks good, even better than before, keep the tech1 skirts they look good!
  8. That is badass on SO many levels.
  9. Correction 1989 = facelift. preface lift did not come motronic. Facelift 320i's only came out with motronic 1.3. This was already mentioned above though!
  10. VDO is just a brand, there VDO and Motometre, only cool kids rock the moto.
  11. Interesting thing to note: "Now I've lost my license" that, combined with "daily driver" = that he lost it in this car, its probably been stickerd at some stage and most probably "dropped the clutch bro" a few too many times.
  12. Is this going to be the last time that you order them? I ask as I will be away for two months until mid/late February and would be interested when I get back... Will you be ordering more next year anytime?
  13. If the waterpump is leaking just replace waterpump, cambelt and tensioner, since these all have to be removed anyway, I would give it a new thermostat also. No need to touch the head gasket if theres nothing wrong with it.
  14. Bearing in mind piston rings are not the only things that could cause the car to smoke, there are a few things, such as valve stem seals for example. Hmmm I'd love those headers!
  15. If you can get this under $5000 then this would be a decent deal, 325, manual, tech 2, all those are getting rarer and rarer. I too am blessed with the luck of side indicators!
  16. Repco pads = no! I've never had anything good come out of them, their cheap and naaaasty. Theres some really good alternatives out there and its worth the money, the improvements are huge and its ultimately your safety that your paying for!
  17. I think its an e30 species of drumming Gremlins
  18. If you are converting to the Link, theres no need to convert to motronic 1.3 at all is there? If you have the bucks go to link first, no need to do two conversions.
  19. I thought silvias use the sr20det?
  20. Yes, that makes even more sense haha. Hmm, Thats nice
  21. This is the most un-informed question I have ever read, you cant actually expect any serious answers here?
  22. Definitely not the tasty block in there judging by the manifolds like Brent says... if it were the special block it could really get up there?
  23. Was merely re-inforcing your point, we don't want to be made to feel small by your exotic car collection Glenn
  24. You are correct - Ljet 320s, 323s (pre facelift) dont have the sensor in the bell housing, they don't even have them anywhere else! I'm still using my 240 Graham, haven't had any issues, and it gets the rough treatment every now and then.
