Sticky throttle or AFM sticking/malfunctioning. I've had issues with AFM's where they would suddenly give me a sort of limiter at certain RPM as if I was hitting an electronic rev limiter. It was random also, I for a while thought it only happend when the car would heat up. It could always be something else though?

Just out of curiosity, whats the average on the insurance for the e30? Wouldn't a bigger motor cost you more? Or is it going on age? z3 2.8 or go Z4!

The screeching/squealing sound your getting is just the belt slipping. Tighten it up, should be the one with the toothed bolt on the slider bracket. Also check your belts condition while your at it.

More info? Whilst going round corners? Whilst accelerating? All the time? Intermittent? etc... Could simply be a loose suspension component? Loose diff bushing? The ass end of a car has alot of components. My busted CV's have always made more of a clicking sound.

Did you read my bit about the plugs? Seriously its SO common. Check all the points, obvious signs of wear. Have you actually tried a different set of spark plugs? They themselves can cause crazy grief.

As mentioned above check dizzy and rotor. Also check you haven't mixed up the two sensors, IE crank angle sensor and the no.6 spark plug sensor, as this will cause this issue, swap them around to test it out, they have no markings or indicators that they are different, they USED to, one plug used to be grey, and one black, but for some reason the plugs are both identical now and very easy to mix up.
