    Boot Lip Spoiler

Did you buy a pre-painted spoiler? How's the paint match... looks a bit off in the photos but that could just be a trick of the light?
  2. Have Eurorec got one? They've always got a selection of E30's in there.

It's amazing what a simple head rebuild and camgrind will do for the performance of an M20. If you don't want to go overboard then maybe a 272 camgrind? Kinda regretting not doing the 272 grind when I had my headwork done actually.
  6. The definition of a boy racer car, is a car owned by a boy racer. The modifications carried out by boy racers on their cars often follow a pattern / trend therefore it can be easy to tell a boy racer's car apart from others
  7. One of the latest Total BMW mags has a coupe that looks very similar to yours featured. Same colour, Alpinas (16's though), Tech I spoiler, and iS lip. I don't have a scanner, but someone might be able to post up the article.
  8. Is the engine M20B25 or M50B25? If M20 I'd pay as much as 7-8 if it was in really good nick.

    Overflow

If you fill the tank up to the brim fuel can leak from a perished sender gauge. Lift up the rear seat and take a look as Glenn said.
  10. Thanks for the info fellas. Obviously I'm only doing my research ATM and I'm hoping 10-15k will get me something tidy and reliable. I don't have a big garage and I'm not particularly savvy when it comes to the mechanical side of things so would need a fully built car. Interested to learn that Chevron aren't highly regarded? Is that widespread opinion?

This is my face. This is my jaw. Wow.
  12. Last night I bought a Caldina for the Missus to drive around town and for us to take down to Queenstown over New Years. This got me thinking about how little I use the E30 as I walk to work and have a mall/supermarket within walking distance of my house so I only take it out on weekends for leisurely drives. In turn I started thinking about buying a weekend car that could be more turn-key track-oriented and my thoughts turned to the Lotus 7 replicas. Obviously the most prevalent in NZ are Fraser Clubmans, Chevron Classics and the Lotus-affiliated Caterham 7. With these being kit cars I realise they're all built slightly differently and use a variety of engines (so far in my Trademe search I've found Datsun 1400's, Toyota 4AGE, 3SGE, 2JZ, Nissan SR20, Subaru 1800 and Escort 1600) but what are the common things to look out for when buying one? Are they as simple to maintain as they look? Will I look like I'm having a mid-life crisis 15 years before I turn 40? Any information/ past experiences appreciated.Â

    Rusted E28

^^ Sanded back with a liberal coating of Castrol GTX applied. Must attract dirt like nothing else!

    Rusted E28

I don't think it costs a lot of money to sand off some rust and paint a shark mouth on your car. Looks different... I like the WWII bomber look he's got going on.

EBC Greenstuff pads are $150 a pair or thereabouts. Pagid more still about $200-ish? Pagid / EBC / Tarox are all good brands.
  16. ^^ Been trying to track that car down... want to swap my wheels for their 16's! It's a chick who owns it too, prob has no idea what she's rolling on.
  17. Wait, did you just quote your own post Graham and then agree with yourself?

    Camera lenses ?

Some of the very good lenses found on Canon digital SLR's today are exactly the same as when they were first manufactured in the 70's and 80's. And Canon actually pride themselves on the fact that their older lenses are compatible with most of their newer camera bodies. Glenn, your macro, fisheye and tele lenses would most likely produce better quality images than the all in one wide angle / tele lens combo found in most camera kits these days. If you're looking at the 1000d / 450d / 500d / 7d cameras, they all have crop sensors which will work fine with your 35mm EF lenses... no issues with unexposed corners etc..

    Camera lenses ?

Most canon lenses will fit the new digital models. If they are an EF mount then definitely. Does your film SLR have autofocus? If so then the lenses will have focus motors in them and will most probably work. Easiest way to find out: Take the lenses with you to a camera shop and try them out.
  20. If JG BMW doesn't come to the party and continues to deny any responsibility I think as a community we (not as members of Bimmersport, but just as BMW enthusiasts) should correspond with JG BMW and express our concerns over the service you have received. And politely inform them that collectively we spend a large amount of money with them and have influence in the BMW enthusiast community that may adversely affect their business unless they see you right. A politely worded email would suffice I'm sure.

Location of car? Interior shots? Yeah, and resize pics please... those things are massive!Â
  22. How much fuel is in it? Could be in-tank lifter pump slowly dying which would cause fuel starvation.
  23. Don't count on the k's being genuine... mine weren't... and neither were the k's on my father's. Both SA import 325's. If you're keen, take it for a drive. I had a look at it today when I was at Turners looking for a car for the missus. It was pretty tidy. Only one dash crack and only minor wear and tear on the body. The low k's 316 was in pretty good nick too. Very straight; obviously owned by an elderly person.
