hi I have an 89 535i project car that has a bad miss. Misses at idle and under throttle. Engine has new head gasket, no apparent vacuum leaks, new cap and rotor. I hooked up my timing light wondering if I could isolate it to a lead and found the miss shows up on the lead from the coil to the cap. Can anyone advise if this means the coil is the problem? Or does the signal originate from the sensor on the crank.

I meant the linkage to the motor. I had one rebushed to eliminate the slop but cheaper to swap with a good used one.

Keen on wiper assembly if it's tight and not rubbing on the bonnet.

Not mechanically minded and no money - why you own a BMW? You could sell it like it is - someone will buy as a project. Then buy a jappa You could take to a reputable BMW indie for 2nd opinion who may give a more thorough diagnosis but until the head comes off you won't know the full cost. Unless it's a mint e36 it probsbly not economical to pay a garage to fix a HG, I sold a tidy 318is for $1500 wof and reg.

Cheers, No it was fitted to the trans but i think either i didn't seat it properly or it slipped forward while i was moving the trans. I had to tilt it forward to get under the subframe. Does the trans need to be in park or does it not matter?

I have swapped the engine in my e34 540i and am now trying to get the auto back in. Problem is the torque converter is not fully seated. It slots in about 10mm and feels like its on splines but it needs to be 20mmm in.

i have a set of -40mm fronts for 6 cyl, lowtec brand, brand new still in the bag from schmeidmann. PM me if interested.

Does anyone have an engine crane i can borrow ? must be suitable for bmw V8. Needed in Tauranga but happy to drive an hour or so to collect and return, can pay in beers cash whatever.

No not sorted. Local dealer confirmed noisy chain. Which has been replaced. Unfortunately after first start I have a cylinder full of valve pieces. Was turning over fine by hand, had checked reference marks, used flywheel land cam locks so pretty baffling and gutting. Am just leaving taupo now after buying another engine off a bloke. Will strip the other one over Xmas and try to work out what went wrong. Anyone got an engine crane for hire?

Thanks Brent found it blue one under top layer of plugs. Fresh gas and still no go. I added a drop of oil to each cylinder first time around so might try that again.....

back together and started up on second attempt. Hell noisy while the oil gets back into everything. Turned it off for a couple of minutes and now can't get it to start again. Suspect stale gas (5 months old) Can anyone tell me exactly where the fuel pump relay is on these? have jumped all the likely suspects with no joy. Looking better on my group buy H&R springs, have some Bugatti rims to add.

fitted H&R lowering springs to e34 540i, inched a little closer to having the engine back together.

Didn't notice how bad the garage looks till after I loaded that pic - oops.

Gave the wife's e46 a birthday, control arm, bushes, lowtec 30"" lowering springs, shocks, oil, beer and filters. Have a spare set of front lowering springs for e46 6cyl 40mm drop $250 brand new from schmeidman.

I bought a nice set of e31 rims and tyres. Should look good on my e32. Now looking for options to move them from chch to tauranga.

Any good options for freighting rims from si to ni? Otherwise will just go main freight/toll...

Vtnz tauranga was 320 for the inspection then about 200 for plates and 6 month reg. on my e32 being pre 1990 it's dearer if newer. if you are going to to any certable suspension mods then do this before the inspection

Run it through a trusted mechanic or dealer for wof check first. You can't GET a wof but it will highlight any major issues, then decide if recompliance is worthwhile
