Thought id start a have a moan im having a “bad old car day†thread. Having a hate my old piece of sh*t E30 day… seems the more I do the worse it gets. Power steering fluid leaking everywhere, even though it was “fixed†a short time ago, bad noises coming from the front suspension even though I have done bushes, top hats and what not.. Engine sounds like crap and is emphasized by the fact my crap extractors are leaking again.. rear bumper stuffed and the car is pulling hard to the left after it being towed for being parked in a tow away zone.. A new Beemer is looking good today.

Go the old guy with the 26 year old teacher... Bet she took some awesome photo’s. Who is the parnell panther?

Looks good, nice colour to work with? Unfortunately Pictures never do the effort justice. I could see your car had been clayed or re-sprayed as soon as looking at it. If anyone wants do a group buy on either Meguiars or Mothers after seeing these results please express genuine interest by PM. I have contacts at both brands and get it for less than wholesale, you’d be disgusted at the mark up the retailers put on the product, I can tell you it’s more than 200%. Would need a few orders to make it worthwhile for the wholesalers.

How the hell did you pass the Honda, are you the Stig? Nice shots, love the body roll in that second shot!

This car has been in his family since new and would have had much more then 50k spent on it over its life. I cant remember this car not being around the local car seen. Would be hard to part with... What is real HP?? Last time I hear someone say that was when I delt to a HSV in my Astra Turbo, the inbreed Holden fan tried to tell me anything with a Turbo is cheating and its not REAL HP.. Maybe it’s a V8 driver thing.

Ita a facelift so 07+ 525i.

Cool. I wonder if they sold them new there?? Only reason I said 318i was the fact it has wind down windows. Wish mine did, 80's power windows FTL I do like the seats but they look like vinyl to me not leather, if it is leather it looks like the crap they use in cheaper brand cars. I had a similar looking vented leather in my Astra and it was horrid, didn’t even have a nice leather smell. Awesome car none the less, Alpina’s, not to low, twin cam. Nice. And yes a good camera and exposure plus photo shop does wonders, cars unlike humans often look a lot better in photo’s. Edit: Just read link…. Answered all my questions

Ah FFD, cool I saw the posters in Melbs. Love your work.

Is that in the USA? Must be an import 318i. Nice pics mate.

Hell yea. Memory lane hard!! That’s going back, I must have been about 5.. That launcher was great for launching cars to their doom!! If any kid had that huge ass aircraft carrier they were way to spoilt, that’s epic.

That’s a good one. Wish I could drive when I was 7! In the 80’s most had steal bottoms and were dam near indestructible. Destroying them is soo much fun! I remember the Hot Wheels with the flip damage panels and change colour in water paint jobs. My Bro was into dynoriders, he got the big f-off walking t-rex for xmas witch was like $40 ($1,800 these days) so I opted for the Matchbox road garage thing for the same ludicrous value, begged for the whole year.. got it. was awesome, made tracks everywhere and could turn it into a parking tower. Would kill for one of those. Motorcity FTMFW. Bravo, I have two of those Transams, one boxed one with a few shopping trolley dents, will swap for a Supercharger and a box of beer.
-
Nice. Crush them. Matchbox looks better to me, have always hated Hot Wheels. I have the entire 1985 to about 1990 matchbox range plus lots of rare noon NZ imported matchbox cars in their original boxes stashed away. Must have 150 or so.. Have another 100 or so unboxed that I will give to the kids to destroy. I used to love putting them in the vice or melting them with a blow touch as a kid.

Yours look to be 15†in the pictures. One would think around a grand.

Nice, straight looking E30! Was over your side of the ditch this week and I noticed there are bugger all BMW’s around, this may be why they are slightly more expensive. I only saw one M3 the whole week I was in Melbourne.
-
I saw a million of these in Melbourne last week, they were SMG and had different spoilers and wheels to a regular 330ci, AFAIK they were a end of run model, all in all a nice car bar the rear spoiler that IMO just looks wrong.
-
Nice, thanks for sharing, love the 80’s cheese… Have just clicked as to why I have an unrelentles want for RS splits on my Isuzu Piazza.

Ok, I have had a think and can only think of one car with a colour similar to that and that’s the facelift ST205 Toyota Celica. House of Colour do some nice stuff, try contacting them, I have a mate that works there if you get stuck.

Give our cars a vacuum and Armorall once a month but it’s a preventative maintenance thing, nothing hard out. Did read a little harsh but I was only Joking, I have purchased cars in a similar state and wondered how the hell a car can get so bad, guessing some people eat and apply make up in their cars.

Purple. Do I win a prize? That’s not a BMW colour champ.

Looking at reviews you are correct, they appear to wear down quick in some applications?? I don’t get it because I found mine to be fantastic, I seriously give my tyres a hard time, much much harder than your average person and ours lasted what seemed like forever. My mate Steve and I started joking about his because they refused to die! The Tires were standard fitment on the Astra SRI-Turbo. T1R's are great, have them on the e30, they are wearing very very quickly though, I have already had them properly rotated (tire off LHF to RHR and vice versa) after 3,000km.. Very much a focused performance tire with a fast wearing compound. If you can get them for $160inc in 17" you are doing well, thats less than wholesale
-
Subjective yes, that’s why I was recommending looking at a tyre that I had found good on a car the same size weight and power as his car. I find it hard to believe they were the same, I have a mate that is still running two of his four after 60,000km, they are a recent tire from Dunlop, when did you have them? I did four track days and lots of hard driving on mine and they were still fine after 40,000km.

What a pig cart. Ten points for effort, I would have just set it on fire and found a new missus that was familiar with hygiene and tidiness

Went for a drive yesterday in the 328ci equipped with over half worn Goodyear Eagle GD F1’s and I can assure you they still work very nicely on a country back road. I don’t like the amount of noise they generate and they provide a lot of feedback threw the steering wheel, this is great when going hard but annoying when cruising. They have worn well, lasting 35,000km so far and have excellent wet weather grip. I would rate them as compromised, they lean to heavily towards performance and lack comfort. Seems you’re looking for a good all-rounder, something that isn’t too focused on sports driving but isn’t going to squeal and slide on that favourite motorway onramp or roundabout. Maybe have a look a Dunlop SP Sport 01, we had these on out Astra and I found them to be a great all-rounder, they could handle a good thrashing on a back road or track but still deliver a smooth ride and minimal noise. Best of all they lasted over 50,000km. They are expensive though.

Lol. trade me is so gay. That Eurolights guy is selling cheaply made lights for 600% more than he pays for them.. Bit of competition is always good.

So cool, a off roader for the whole family.
