    2014 BMW X5

For the X lovers: http://www.netcarshow.com/bmw/2014-x5/ Let the hate flow freely.
  2. Its a shame they don't though, would be cool to see more concept type cars from Germany, if Jaguar, Aston and others can do it why cant BMW! Looks like any other BMW interior.

    Quaife

Or email Quaife direct, I run one and have had good communication with them in the past..
  4. X2, good work, that interior is one of the best I have seen in a E46, in fact I am in love with your car! I will have to try these flakes next time, I normally just use clothing washing powder, I did my last E46 and the water I tipped out was discussing... used it on the wheel, stalks and other trim bits too, turned out really nice.
  5. Ah thats right, you remove the side bolsters first, they push up and come out... they are a bugger! from memory the best thing you can do is take your time.
  6. Its a bugger of a job, I had them out once or twice, cant quite remember how I did it but remember I posted some info somewhere and found info on E30 Zone forum. From memory you unbolt them from the front and the bolts are down where the wheel arch is, they fork in and are a bugger, you need to loosen them all in place and then lift them up and out from the back. Do not try and remove the carpet from the seat backs, you need to remove it all in one piece. Sorry I cannot remember exactly how it did it when installing sounds and rear head rests.
  7. Bacon tyres, when you do a burnout it smells like bacon. Spotted a grubby M-Coupe last week, I still think they are awesome, was a modern day classic amongst the vanilla cars that made up the rush traffic on the southern motorway northbound. M-Coupe = Future collectible.
  8. I am not sure, i theory they are simple, maybe do some googling and see if other models of BMW have them OEM, the X5 for example may have one to help keep temps down when towing.
  9. Nice, shows that Grey was far more popular than the black. Would love to hear a audio clip of them in convoy through a tunnel
  10. Sounds reasonable, look forward to seeing how it works out. There will still be that hesitation, slip and dull response you get from a torque converter but having the car stay in the gear you want it too is start! As mentioned, a transmission cooler may be a good addition if you can fit one economically enough.
  11. Does the 540i have the +/- selector, tiptronic or whatever its called? I found that to be easier to grasp than paddles. Either way my 545i was very annoying on the track, it would still change gears even when in sport mode, if the dinan kit stops this it would be a start.
  12. Ha, I thought it was you so no problems spamming sir spamalot As a driving enthusiast who cant drive 55 and that may one day decide that it is time to procreate I have looked at fast family movers, the Zafira would be on my short list, it would have to be the OPC version though... As a family outing I would load them up with helmets and head to a trackday, then drive circles around guys in automatic BMW's, look kids, that guy is in a automatic BMW and we just passed him, don't spill you juice box! How is your German? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMmME5aupsg Good to see you have looked into brake upgrades, some quality fluid I recommend ELF's performance fluid and some decent pads like a Ferodo should see an improvement.
  13. Nice one. I kinda forced my wife into driving a manual when I traded her car on a brand new car that was manual, she kinda had to learn if she wanted to drive a nice new car, funny it only took two hours with a driving instructor and now 6 years later she shifts better than Justin Beeber or the cast of Fast and the Furious. I know you are a BMW fan but have you considered something like this, they are based on the AH Astra Chassis and drive quite nice: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-482396079.htm
  14. No problems paul, I am a Ford fan like you, have had every generation of Falcon in the family since the early 80's, some were great, some were a nightmare, currently have a new Territory in the family and the latest gen's quality has improved some what. The problem with both Ford and Holden is consistent quality, its very hit and miss, we have had some like the EL Fairmont that was bullet proof, and other's like the BF and XF that have been nothing short of sh*t, the XF was so bad they gave us a replacement car and the BF has had to have a full re spray and rust removal as well as leather replaced at less than 10000km. As for French cars, you have it the wrong way around, they are slow in a straight line but handle very well in the corners and normally ride very well, probably why they don't sell them in America. Like the Falcon and Commodore and any other brand to an extent they have had hit and miss reliability on some models, I am on my second gen Megane now and to date we have had minimal problems, one window loom on the old one and one seat (German Recaro) replaced on the new one. Was sad when they closed down the Ford plant in Wiri, this closure in Australia will be hard on the people of Geelong, its a huge factory, we went there a few years back, will be interesting to see how the closure effects that city.
  15. I am not a brand man so I don't care, was a wind up, I have have owned dozens of different cars over the years including both Holden's and Fords both new and old, all cars have idiosyncrasies and I wont even begin to bore you with what cars have been reliable and what haven't. I doubt Paul has even seen anything French in Timaru let alone a French car, but to be fair I was surprised they even have the internet so anything is possible.
  16. Steve, I think you should stop building now, I do not need any more BMW's to try and keep up with on Targa. Will this go into open class or class 5 with the mods you have done? You have 6 months until Targa.
  17. Braking is overrated! Manual box it and compression lock it hard into every corner D1 styles, that's how a man would do it Joking aside, I would look at a basic brake upgrade and a LSD, the auto is a sh*t house if you want to drive like a man but an open diff manual with no brakes will be equally annoying. Personally, I would keep stalking M5 owners and buy some duck tape.
  18. I like the idea of a dove grey interior, with the blue paint it is the same combo as my first car, its a nice combo IMHO. Pictures of the interior?? When are we having a meet, wold be good to see this car and a few other new members cars together.
  19. Looks nuts, would love a hoon.. I would be fitting more brakes and suspension though

    BMW 1M

Some people can appreciate what a chef has served them on a plate, they understand how perfect everything is and what skill was involved in getting it just so, others just look at the ingredients and menu and complain about the price. Good luck with the sale Dylan.
  21. The E36 was everyone's cup of tea, literally everyone brought one and has had one, like a german toyota camry, they are a good looking car in their own right and were well proportioned, as is the E46, both of witch i would rate as some of BMW's best work, its just they are everywhere. Megan Fox is nice to look at but if there were suddenly 500,000 Megan Foxes walking around we would probably get sick of her... well maybe after having a test drive first just to make sure. I remember when the E36 come onto our market, I was not a huge fan, then when the M3 come out I was a massive fan, buy the early 2000's we had so many E36's that they lost their appeal again, I think the E36 will have its second wind as a lot of them die off and the good ones remain. Same could be said for the E30 too I suppose, only I think the E30 was just a nice classic simple design and had a huge impact on me and many others as a youngster, I still admire a stock standard 318i driving down the road, its a cult car Still trying to think of a third contender, thinking it would have to be 507. So. #1 E9 #2 E30 #3 507
  22. True, that was something I loved with the E30 compared to jap crap from a similar era. Great if you are riding a push bike with no front brakes though.
  23. Has been for sale half a dozen times in the last 5 years... alarm bells. SMG sucks.
  24. E9 E30 Cant even think of a third I like.
