Made me laugh.. worth a discussion I think http://motoring.ninemsn.com.au/cars/news/8...eating-husbands

Is it bad that the first thing I thought was "boy, this guys going to have hot feet" haha Thats a BIG TURBO!
-
Looking at the commodore in the photo I would say 2005.

Thanks for your time last night, car drives very well and sounds very healthy, it’s one of the quietest and smoothest M20 I have heard and the gear change (other than the knob) was very nice, suspension was compliant, overall this car drives better than my old Touring. I hope you don't mind me saying and I say this in no way to detriment a pending sale but the body needs a bit of tidy up in places, its only minor stuff really, would not bother someone who was not fussy and it is much better than most out there asking unrealistic money, couple of dents and faded paint on the roof, overall the car is in very good honest condition and at the price you are asking a fair deal IMHO, would rather something that is mechanicly sound like this than a worn out time bomb like my old POS was. Good luck with the sale, someone is going to get a very nice touring.

Tempting. What colour is it? lachssilber?

From what I can imagine that track would school any noob in whatever car they are driving, a fully loaded CRV would not be ideal though. should used a Transit Van!
-
Is it still technically a public "toll road"?

The Corvette's are quite good though, one of my favorite cars in the game is my C6 Z06,its a good car, the ZR1 is a bit OTT. GT5 missed out on a massive amount of good cars and i'm sure they did so as part of some secret plan to brain wash a new generation of people into thinking Japanese cars are actually good, the physics are just unrealistically god on some cars in the game. I am having serious Forza envy.. wish Forza and Granturismo would team up, would make for a great game, leave the graphics to the GT team and let Forza put the personality into the game. Would love a E39 M5 in GT.

Your favorite show Brent Nice episode though, wish M5's were priced like that here, a real dream car for a lot of us!

Two sets here. Seller is a good sort too! http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=39387

Bimmersport dyno/drag day would solve this and show who the real drivers are. lol edit post... bimmersport spelling fails me more than facebook.

Out of the box there would not be much in it, the 328i gets going very fast, you don't nee balls either, I will admit my wife got me to 50kph in here Automatic 328CI once or twice when having a laugh, they really do rocket! I have driven a few of each, both are thirsty vs performance, could not tell the 330CI brakes were any better than the 328CI, both were crap to be honest, the 328CI has 17" wheels, I like the steering in the 328CI, its nice and heavy all be it a bit slow, the torque is nice and flexible, over all not a bad cruiser. I think E46's are much of a muchess model to model, unless you are hung up on figures and stats and drive harder than you should in a car of this nature you will not notice any difference, they are tourers not race cars, if you want to go fast you need a M3.

I was amazed having not tested there since Hampton Downs opened, I do enjoy Pukekohe and it is a valuable place to test the car and bring out any problems that may arise in a road event, more so than Hampton I think, its bumps and long straight test the car a bit better. It seems that whole chicane on turn two is new, its actually different to the way it is in all three of your vids, if you line it up properly you can miss the rumble part all together and have the LHS wheels on smooth concrete and the RHS wheels on the edge of the tarmac, doing this gives much better entry and composure onto the back straight and is good for an extra 10kph in a slow car. PS Jack is a madman and takes that section faster than most would have the balls to do
-
With all due respect, the track has improved 10 fold, after being out the other week I can safely say modern lap times are almost non comparable to what they were a few years ago. In particular, the chicane on the essess that Jack cuts could not be cut like that a few years ago, I can see why you would think that is a bad approach but I can assure you it is very fast, you can go through it flat out, even entry and exit from the back straight are vastly improved. TBH I pooh poohed Pukekohe up until a recent drive around it, and now I would prefer it to Hampton downs for testing.

It is a nice garage and yes it has some goodies in it, have visited this place before, the owner is real car nut. You should see the house!
-
I see what you did there The non facelift 2000-2001 330i/ci is the same spec as the 1998-2000 238i/ci bar engine. Major spec changes come with the face-lift E46 model in mid 2001 I believe. Hope that helps.

Well it is red like a Ferrari, maybe the owner thinks it is one?? It is amazing alright, my car is only 6 months old and already has 20,000km on it, you don't buy a drivers car and not drive it, I feel sorry for the poor old thing, would be interested to get it on a dyno and see what it is making. I think Simon's purple people eater 540 had silly millage on it and still drove like clockwork.

LSD would have to come aftermarket, BMW only have the LSD for the proper M cars. I remember in the late 80's early 90's when the badge on the back of a BMW was only there as a symbol of your bank balance, it had very little to do with power and more to do with who paid more, would not want another mother in the carpark having the model up, how embarrassing! I think this is still quite a strong requirement for a lot of buyers, I mean how many drivers use the power of a 328i over a 320i, not many, they just like to know they have the better model. An example was a friend who went to buy a BMW and come back with a 135i, she wanted the top of the range even if she has never floored a car in her life, you could put a 135i badge on any other model and she would be non the wiser.

Yep. Apparently even a small rally like this brings a lot of money into the community in the time its there, I know with Targa a lot of small towns really embrace the idea of us coming into their town, the local Schools all come out to see the cars and we all donate money to the Schools directly. How would the Iwi like to explain to other residents that it was them that cost the community say $35,000. I say take out an ad in the local rag as the hori’s did to organize the protest and give a breakdown of how much not having the rally cost the community.

Very nice care. They are still rare and costy in Australia! http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details...All&keyword Good luck with the sale.

It is sad. because of the events timing in proximity to Targa Bambina I missed it, but had planed on doing it one-day. I'm a bit sad I didn't make the trip down to do it last year now as it looks like a great event. I remember last Targa Bambina a stage was closed because some Maori's wanted to go fishing. What was funny is that when we toured though we didn't see any fishermen. I know it had bugger all to do with fishing and more to do with them flexing their muscles.

You need only look at power/torque and price TBH. Capacity does not translate to performance like it did in the 1970's. http://www.bmw.co.nz/com/en/newvehicles/3s...eAndOptions.pdf
-
Oh yea 328i. I don't know if that was my dyslexia or BMW's confusing badging. Look forward to your review.
-
Agreed. I would want a 238i in manual with the Sport Suspension and a LSD. Would make for a fast car. Nothing wrong with a modern European 2.0 Turbo, cars have come along way since the Japanese Turbo era of the 90's and I think its hard for people to comprehend this, you are dealing with two very different cars. I can take off in third gear in my car and it boosts up fast, have never had turbo lag.

Does anyone need their Bmw remapped or tuned. Contact Hi Velocity

Gavin's E30 is a beast. That's all I know. Very fast on the straight at Pukekohe You would need to account for the fact a CSL is near 200kg lighter than your car and can go around corners and stop much faster. So you would need another 50-100kw, bigger brakes and tyres and upgraded suspension to get on top of a CSL. So a Supercharger or Turbo would be a good idea. You then need to take into acount that the guy who brought the CSL might me a better driver (chances are he is an enthusiast) so you would want to take driving lessons from Ray Williams too. So hypothetical race has flaws. Just saying.
