  1. I have acquired a Microsoft heroes happen dvd bookset, it contains: MS Server 2008 Std (1 yr eval license and virtual license) MS Visual Studio 2008 MS SQL Server 2008 Being a Java/Oracle developer VS and SQL are of little benefit to me and Server 2008 Std is seriously overkill in my home network esp since our server has to handle media center stuff. I don't want to sell this but would prefer to swapsies for something that would in some way benefit both parties. I don't mind splitting these up separately as VS and Server are extremely beneficial to different people. Message me if you're interested.
  2. Nice work Ollie, have a second bimmer now so will have to jump on the next band wagon!
  3. Drop bmpower a PM, she's got a genuine Hartge spoiler available.
  4. TF2 = Team Fortress 2 Wii = Console
  5. TF2 or reading. If the girl is wanting (NWS aside) it'll be Wii with her
  6. From memory, as I've driven the A1 between Bremen and Hamburg, Bremen is not a very big state as it's a city-state from memory. I also remember doing 160kph in a 86 VW polo and being overtaken by evey imaginable vehicle so i'm going to assume that if it was a huge area restriction there'd be a LOT of pissed of germans.
  7. You're also forgetting that the power needed to recharge these has to come from somewhere and that power source may be coal/oil/gas fired?

Super Mario Bros on the NES is the best game ever for all time, immense replayability for a 20+ year old console game.

Me and a few friends have Wii consoles and getting 4 people together in a large enough room playing against each other is a VERY social thing and even the girlfriend(s) want to play it. Most consoles realistically are single player orientated, which can also be said of Wii games, but it's the 4 player games on the Wii that make it. It's why it is the most popular console in the world. February 2008 numbers courtesy of NPD: Hardware - February 2008 588k - Nintendo DS 432k - Nintendo Wii 352k - PlayStation 2 281k - PlayStation 3 255k - Xbox 360 243k - PlayStation Portable Software - February 2008 296k - Call of Duty 4 (360) 295k - Devil May Cry 4 (360) 290k - Wii Play (Wii) 234k - Devil May Cry 4 (PS3) 223k - Guitar Hero III (Wii) 206k - Mario and Sonic: Olympic Games (DS) 204k - Lost Odyssey (360) 198k - Turok (360) 184k - Guitar Hero III (PS2) 162k - Rock Band (360) http://blogs.pcworld.com/gameon/archives/006638.html As an extra note, should point out that I still have a working NES system from 1989, yes, that's right, an almost 20 year old console still in working condition. My original PSX died after being abused for 5 straight years, PS2 still gets Tiger 2005'd.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/4450512a28.html Have a read of the scathing comments left by readers...not one positive one in there Go the Wii
  13. I'm not around this weekend but describe the clunking noise more, like when does it occur, is random or have a frequency matching speed or rpm, is it on acceleration only or is it all the time, is it only on cornering etc
  14. Sensors are front left and rear right, if you want you can simply close circuit them, but having the sensor in is a good indicator.
  15. The 3rd is like being in Oblivion with full HDR support on!
  16. Change what? You still haven't exactly described what your problem is!!!
  17. Let me try to understand, you gave your windows PC to your old man and he can't log in to a specific website using it although other sites are fine??? Does that sound like the problem? If it does it's because you're security settings are too restrictive, probably a good thing, people can't log in to gmail from my pc exactly because of that reason.
  18. Something I just recently discovered is that Vista is bugged so that installing a SCSI pass through (vitrual drives like Daemon Tools) causes burning software to fail. Don't use Daemon Tools or Alcohol 52%, these both caused Nero and ImgBurn to stop functioning on my pc. I've switch to SlySoft Virtual CloneDrive and that works perfectly, havedn't tried MagicISO or 7Zip yet
  19. DimeBag, this is my setup after clean installing, some services may be missing depending on Vista version, in order: Turn off User Account Control -> CP (Control Panel) -> Users -> Turn off UAC Remove unwanted Windows features from CP -> Programs and features -> Windows Features Turn of HDD indexing: Right click C: -> Properties -> Uncheck "Index this drive..." Turn of Windows Sidebar and configure it not to load on start up (right click icon in tray) Disable following services from CP -> Admin Tools -> Services - Application Experience - Computer Browser - DFS Replication - Diagnostic Policy Service - Diagnostic service host - Diagnostic system host - Distributed Link Tracking Client - Distributed Transaction Coordinator - DNS Client (if using IE keep it on Auto, if FireFox or Opera set to manual) - Function Discovery Provider Host - Function Discovery Resource Publication - IKE and AuthIP IPsec Keying Modules - IPsec Policy Agent - IP Helper - KtmRm for Distributed Transaction Coordinator - Offline files - Portable Device Enumerator Service (set to manual) - Program Compatibility Assistant (set to manual) - Readyboost - Remote Registry - Secondary Logon (if only one user) - Security Center (before disabling turn off notifications *) - Server (if not sharing your files) - Shell Hardware Detection (unless u like autoplay popups) - Superfetch - Tablet PC - TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper (unless networking with linux servers, set to manual) - Terminal Services - Telephony (if not using dial up) - UPnP Device Host - Remote Access Connection (if not using dial up) - WebClient - Windows Connect Now - Config Registrar - Windows Defender (ONLY if you're running something else, I use Kapersky, before disabling go into Defender and turn off protection) - Windows Driver Foundation - Windows Error Reporting Service - Windows Management Instrumentation (set to manual) - Windows Search - Windows Time If not using PC as media centre then set following to manual: - Windows Media Center Extender - Windows Media Center Recevier - Windows Media Center Scheduler - Windows Media Center Service If you prefer to run windows update manually set the following to manual: - Background Intelligent Transfer Service - Windows Update -> You'll also want to then go into WU and set it to "manually configured" I also disable restore points. You may not want to do this but if you do go into backup and restore centre (or through computer management) and find the restore points tab then turn off HDD restore points on all drives. After doing this run the disk clean up tool and remove saved restore points. I then do things in this order: Install important drivers (motherboard / GFX / Audio) Install Windows Updates Install Diskeeper 2008 ** defrag using DK Install antivirus/secuiry suite software (Kaspersky for me) defrag using DK Install applications in order of priority with defrags in between Hope that helps. * To stop annoying security center, open it up, choose 'change the way secirty center alerts me' then select 'don't notify me and dont display the icon' ** Diskeeper shits all over the in built defrag. If you don't own a copy (most likely not) just download their latest PRO version (it's like <25MB) and install that (preferably onto a partition that's not your main one) then after the 30 day trial period just uninstall it, at least you'll then have your core applications installed at the start of the drive and in outstanding condition.
  20. Don't tell them to stuff off as that'll only make you look guilty. Just write a reasonable letter in response detailing what you've already said.

  23. Post the list so we can shame those who can't follow through on their promises
  24. Ah, but note that my XP was ALSO tweaked aswell, the standard install of XP pro has a ot of unessential services also automatic by default. It's not a good comparison, but the fact is, by default ALL window OS installs require tweaking to individual needs, XP certainly ran better for me after I disabled most of it's services!!!I don't want to defend either system, I like XP, it's the best OS MS has ever put out, but it too had plenty of bugs prior to SP1 and it is SP2 that everone is using and liking. The thing is, being a gamer with a high end system, I want dx10 and I don't want a hax0red XP version. E: And the other thing, MS is dropping XP support, no more automatic updates...not that I ever kept mine up to date.
