    m10 head gasket

GO into the maintenance forum and look at the sticky topics for the BMW parts places, there's a ton of places you can get the set from, around $150-200
  3. Sidenote plugin: I have a spare 1990 320i engine should someone need one for the series
  4. I'm no expert but clean you distributor rotor contacts if you can and ensure the spark plugs have the right gap. Best to check everything you can before resorting to expensive measures.
  5. Don't forget that it could be something else like a fueling issue (no fuel or flooded). Just work your way through, tighten connections, make sure all plugs are in, check the computer plug on the engnine is done up tight etc. E: You've got fuel haven't you? And just to claify, your engine does turn over, it just doesn't fire right?

Was more funy reading all the flaming on their forum...classic
  8. I've got the control arm bushes and the steering response went from lofty to a direct feeling, like going from P/S to manual.
  9. Would've been fun to have gone for a cruise this weekend, especially if you were going to be running 23lbs!!! Next time when you get it sorted - k
  10. Check groundings and all plugs and connections if you can, could be a loose connection as you're just not getting any spark. If your battery light was coming on while the engine was running and revving then yes, your alternator sounds shagged, but that wouldn't prevent your jump starting. E: Had the same thing happen to me with an old nissan years back just on the Wairoa side of the Wairoa hill in Hawkes Bay. Had the push the car 5ks to get to the town only to find out it was just a loose connection on a little ceramic thingy...garrr
  11. Too much oil is better than not enough IMO but to put too much oil in you'd have to be pouring in well in excess of 6 litresE: Oh, and if you really did have too much engine oil it would create a significantly high oil pressure which I would imagine you'd notice quite easily as oil would leak out considerably easier and your car may not rev too well as crank would have more resistance. This is no where near as bad as overcooking your engine and or killing the bearings.

    TXTing

It's actually quite amazing how communication has changed everything. In my day bullying was a physical thing but now kids are psychologically attacking each other using internat and txt. This is incredibly dangerous because psychological attacks are ever more devastating than physical attacks. RE what Ollie said, if people txt each other out because the repercussions of failure are easier to handle, then how are you ever going to meet someone new? I think i'd prefer to ask someone out to her face, the on the spot response is far more exciting, emailing or txting someone would only give the impression that you have no confidence and confidence is a huge winner. I now also hear that Christchurch students from one high school have been using a website to canvass each other for s*xual meetings. Such prolific actions at such a young age...

    Quick Questions

Agreed, best to create a topic with a relevant subject title so that searching for a specific topic will yield better results, is better to inform a n00b to use the search function as opposed to trying to dig up a topic with hundreds of entries

    Advice!

Just go down to the tyre shop and check out what is available and at what price and that'll give you an idea of what you can stick on
  18. Who's using what and what are your scores? We should get a common benchmarking tool, who's using something that is easily downloaded for free? BTW, looks like 3dmark is the go but the download is huge

    Air con belts

I've got the AC unit aswell and currently there's no belt on it due to an engine shifting off a broken mount so having it detached is not harmful, however, the AC belt is harmless if you leave it on. Taking the belt off won't make naff all difference to your performance. If you want a performance increase take the whole AC unit out. IMO if you have the AC unit then hook it up because the winter demisting and summer cooling properties are quite beneficial. I'll be hooking a new belt onto mine soon.

    AutoSports Chip

I agree with what Darryl just said. I've only had bad experiences with chips that were supposed to be the trick but the dyno results prove they were severely detremental to performance. In future i'll go with a piggy back chip that's properly dyno tuned. It may be a little more costly but the end results will be far more satisfactory and they're able to be adjusted should further engine modifiactions occur. Chips are designed for a specific setup and don't take into account different intake, internal, and exhaust modifications. People that don't dyno before and after throwing in a new chip and then saying it's better are talking through their arseholes.

    RivaTuner

The GT is the fully turned on model of that chip (ie: 7200, 7400, 7600, 7900 etc..) meaning that nothing is masked. The lower models (normal, XT, LE etc) are basically the GT model with bits nobbled, rivatuner basically unlocks the nobbled bits effectively making the model a GT although one has to be careful to account for the increased heat that's generated by the chip.I unlocked mine last night and the results were wicked

    RivaTuner

DO IT, if you've running a card that isn't a GT or Pro you can unlock some hardware masked pixel pipelines and vertex shaders. Mine was 8pp & 4vs but now is 16pp & 6vs and Oblivion is now running with a considerably higher FPS, it's quite incredible, but I do have the LE version which was supposedly the most nobbled 6800 card...hehe, now it's a GT equiv.

    RivaTuner

Has anyone here used RivaTuner before??? I've got the 6800 LE card and i've been reading that I can unlock it so that it runs considerably faster, would be interested to know if anyone here has done this before.
