The "P" is used to show the engine has been developed by the Motorsport Division for racing, in the same way "S" is used for engines developed by M Dept. So M50 -> S50 -> P50 are all based on the same design, but different levels of design and development. I have never seen reference to a P50 engine before, was one developed? E36 ran in SuperTourers (2ltr) and GTR specs as factory cars, can't think of any 3.2 versions?

Can it still be called a Luxo barge. E38 740i vrs F34 328i

That's for the GT though, which is on a different platform (I think) than a standard 3 series (F30). But, yes, new cars are getting bigger - the 1 series is bugger tfan an E30 3 series, the X3 is bigger than the E53 X5, etc. However, I would argue about which feels the most nimble. The improved suspension and front end grip of the F30 makes up for the extra size and weight. An E30/6/46 seem almost skittish and a lot less planted than an F30 - particularly at speed. -
Will pm you later Tony...

Sounds familiar... Med Case Diffs seem to be like rocking horse poo at the moment, especially for an E30 fitment, let alone in a decent ratio for a race car..

I thought you were ex-UK like myself Graham? You must realise that most people in Leeds drink beer for breakfast, it's not a place you want to be when you are sober! On the same note, that program on Prime last night - "Skint", idiots with no education, no ambition, no jobs, hundreds of kids, no money to live off... but able to smoke, watch SkyTV and drink cans of Special Brew. Makes my blood boil..

Yes, I too smell a ruse.. very cunning. It's an NZ new car, so it can't be rusty... everybody knows that ONLY UK imports get rust .
-
I have got all the E30 bits needed to fix this, including a front cut, but if it gets anywhere near $5k it's out of my reach. Thinking about the parts in it, you could break it and get more than $5k, so yeah will prob be up around there. Dammit.

What cars would Kiwi enthusiasts want?

Check the NZTA web-site Graham, there is a category called "Immigrant's Cars" provided you have owned and driven it overseas, for a set length of time (12 months IIRC), then you can bring anything in through this category without a need for it to comply. You would be eligible as a returning Kiwi for this category. You can only bring one vehicle in through this route. How long are you planning to be away for? Not so sure about reasonably priced E30 M3s in Europe, the one on TradeMe for $50k (approx 25k GBP) is much nicer than most listed on UK sites for much more money. Germany is the same, demand is outstripping supply at the moment. Maybe Eastern Europe but you are well into "buyer beware" territory there.. A cheap rusty E46 M3 would make a great race car... and compliance isn't an issue if it's track only. Might be a few $$$s in selling off the interior, etc. -
Some people have delicate stomachs... It looks great from some angles, the side view really shows the connection to the original CSL "Batmobile", but granted it it a bit more challenging from other angles.

Or you could read the actual requirements on the www.nzta.govt.nz web-site and work out what vehicles fit into what category, and how long you have to own a vehicle overseas. -
Yeah, I understand. Pretty sure that $650 for a good condition used is about where the market is at right now, prices have jumped a bit on these.
-
It's not even a concept, it's a design study, similar to the 328 Hommage that was done a year or so back, for the same event I think. Purely and excuse for the designers to be let off the leash a bit, and try a few things - see what works and what doesn't.

Very hard to call that one, the market for "enthusiast" vehicles in NZ is very limited. You could have a great car, but end up holding it for a long time waiting for the right buyer. I would suggest you buy yourself a nice "toy" to enjoy while you are over there and then bring that back, if you flick it for a few $$$s afterwards then that's a bonus. -
Nah, it's completely rooted. Now, all bugger off and let me get it cheap..! I won't part it, it's to be restored and put back on the road.

There's a few coming up on eBay.co.uk now as cars are being scrapped and wrecked, prices have dropped a long way now as there are fewer E30 'verts around, and most are now summer only cars. Shipping to NZ wouldn't be too bad, LCL through a freight forwarder..

Have you tried Geoff, FIATS 131R? He often has diffs and gear sets, etc and is in Wellytown.
-
Geoff is usually the man for these, Silver Fox sometimes has one or two. Was one on TradeMe recently, for $650 I think it was. Prices have gone up a bit recently if that's what your thinking about.

If they fail to realise the real value of their property, maybe. But only then if that difference is more than the commission. If the agents are telling you they would market at $xx that is the MOST you can expect to get. Selling privately got me much more than the highest agents selling point, plus the saved commission. Granted this was in a cooler market than Auckland currently. Auctions are heavily weighted in favour of the seller, and are pushed by the Agents as it is a guaranteed quick turn around for them. This does put off many sellers, and as such can limit your selling price. Personally I bought my first house to make money on it, and since then have bought houses that I WANT to live in.
-
Interesting that someone has fitted E46 MV2 alloys to your car... a style I have always liked but not sure they work on the E90. Have a look at some of the standard MSport wheels on an E90/1 there are some good 19" available, and gun metal is a good compromise between the black wheel / silver wheel choice.

It's the bloody Real Estate Agents I can't stand, what a waste of time they are. Couldn't put a price on our house, "what's the RV?" was the question they asked when I wanted them to tell me what they would sell it for... Pathetic excuse for marketing and advertising (all at our cost..) and a couple of Open Homes. For which they wanted to be paid between $18k - $22k (based off the RV as a selling price). And I thought Estate Agents in the UK were supposed to be crap, they certainly do a lot more for much lower fees, and do more of the actual transaction as well rather than just pocketing the cash and palming you off to a Solicitor to pay more fees. So I thought "f$%k that for a game of soldiers" and got some quality photos taken, put the house on TradeMe did a couple of Open Homes with the wife and sold it three weeks later for $20k more than the highest valuation from any of the Real Estate agents, total cost to me of less than $2k. Net gain in my wallet circa $38k for about eight hours work. And as for the Agents in Auckland when looking to buy.. HA!

The phenomenon I like to call "straight line drivers" as in, they can only drive in a straight line, the first sign of a curve and they have no idea how their car can go around it and proceed to be on / off the brake pedal all the way around, even though there is a F%$k-off big sign telling them what the "comfortable" speed around the corner is, and they were 15kms under that speed to start with. Then as you say they piss off at a million miles an hour at the first sign of an overtaking lane. This is where machine guns or rocket launchers should be allowed to be used...
