When you say it needs a cert, do you mean the repair cert or a LVVA cert for mods? Would be worth a lot more, and much easier to sell, if you got all the paperwork finished and the car reg. Got to be worth the effort?

Maaattteee!!!! You're going the wrong way!! And I think you were speeding in pit-lane.. Looks pretty cool, and good fun. Unfortunately the race car is in it's normal state - in bits in the garage. Damn.

It's not a triangle, it's a shark's fin - makes it way cooler!

Nice car, looks in very good nick and glad to hear it is being looked after. In terms of a hard-top try Ethirty_Andy on here, he has found a contact in the UK and is looking to bring a couple over.

how to find production numbers by year and model?
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to kulgan's topic in General Discussion
Lots of good info on there, gives production dates for all the series (those that are listed, some are missing) but I can't find anywhere that it shows what volumes were produced in each year? I have a breakdown of E30 production by year, model, etc. but not for E38 sorry. -
Wow, really?? It wasn't me, as they didn't "authenticate" my account in time, so I wasn't able to bid over the internets... I was more interested in the burnt out 323i, what did that go for?

2014 Nurburgring 24h onboard the BMW M235i Racing
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to hybrid's topic in Videos & Sound
The traffic in those endurance races is intense, such big speed differences between cars in different classes. Driver was a bit unlucky as the guy in front slammed the anchors on to avoid the car which had gone off. Was a bit optimistic trying to keep driving the bonnet all pushed up.. -
Re-post.

The "P" is used to show the engine has been developed by the Motorsport Division for racing, in the same way "S" is used for engines developed by M Dept. So M50 -> S50 -> P50 are all based on the same design, but different levels of design and development. I have never seen reference to a P50 engine before, was one developed? E36 ran in SuperTourers (2ltr) and GTR specs as factory cars, can't think of any 3.2 versions?

Can it still be called a Luxo barge. E38 740i vrs F34 328i

That's for the GT though, which is on a different platform (I think) than a standard 3 series (F30). But, yes, new cars are getting bigger - the 1 series is bugger tfan an E30 3 series, the X3 is bigger than the E53 X5, etc. However, I would argue about which feels the most nimble. The improved suspension and front end grip of the F30 makes up for the extra size and weight. An E30/6/46 seem almost skittish and a lot less planted than an F30 - particularly at speed. -
Will pm you later Tony...

Sounds familiar... Med Case Diffs seem to be like rocking horse poo at the moment, especially for an E30 fitment, let alone in a decent ratio for a race car..

I thought you were ex-UK like myself Graham? You must realise that most people in Leeds drink beer for breakfast, it's not a place you want to be when you are sober! On the same note, that program on Prime last night - "Skint", idiots with no education, no ambition, no jobs, hundreds of kids, no money to live off... but able to smoke, watch SkyTV and drink cans of Special Brew. Makes my blood boil..

Yes, I too smell a ruse.. very cunning. It's an NZ new car, so it can't be rusty... everybody knows that ONLY UK imports get rust .
-
I have got all the E30 bits needed to fix this, including a front cut, but if it gets anywhere near $5k it's out of my reach. Thinking about the parts in it, you could break it and get more than $5k, so yeah will prob be up around there. Dammit.

What cars would Kiwi enthusiasts want?
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to Apex's topic in General Discussion
Check the NZTA web-site Graham, there is a category called "Immigrant's Cars" provided you have owned and driven it overseas, for a set length of time (12 months IIRC), then you can bring anything in through this category without a need for it to comply. You would be eligible as a returning Kiwi for this category. You can only bring one vehicle in through this route. How long are you planning to be away for? Not so sure about reasonably priced E30 M3s in Europe, the one on TradeMe for $50k (approx 25k GBP) is much nicer than most listed on UK sites for much more money. Germany is the same, demand is outstripping supply at the moment. Maybe Eastern Europe but you are well into "buyer beware" territory there.. A cheap rusty E46 M3 would make a great race car... and compliance isn't an issue if it's track only. Might be a few $$$s in selling off the interior, etc. -
Some people have delicate stomachs... It looks great from some angles, the side view really shows the connection to the original CSL "Batmobile", but granted it it a bit more challenging from other angles.

Or you could read the actual requirements on the www.nzta.govt.nz web-site and work out what vehicles fit into what category, and how long you have to own a vehicle overseas. -
Yeah, I understand. Pretty sure that $650 for a good condition used is about where the market is at right now, prices have jumped a bit on these.

It's not even a concept, it's a design study, similar to the 328 Hommage that was done a year or so back, for the same event I think. Purely and excuse for the designers to be let off the leash a bit, and try a few things - see what works and what doesn't.
