Not by the time you factor in RUC… 😁 And it was dearer than 91 from the pump a few weeks back!

Took the mighty 116d to work this morning, luckily Friday & school holidays meant very little traffic so driving a manual wasn’t too much of a drag. Fingers crossed getting home will be the same!

Great to hear! Definately a rarer and less well known Bimmer, so good to keep it alive!

No stoush missed, don’t worry. Couldn’t be a stoush when the Diplomatic Immunity of “no offence” has been used, as in “no offence but I think your a helmet”.

Pretty sure there’s one of these sitting in the BMW warehouse, belongs to the car club.

All 2016 M235i are “M Performance” versions. This what’s when BMW were offering an “M Lite” which wasn’t quite a full M car (M3, M5, etc) but was a big step up from an M-Sport optioned vehicle. If in any doubt it should have “M Performance” on the engine cover, and come up on the instrument cluster at start up. A VIN or rego would be helpful, or even a photo.

No idea why you think it’s got anything to do with me, it’s not my decision. So, no, don’t contact me.

Done, for old times sake, fugitives. Was also part of the reason for my suggestion on For Sale threads.

I haven’t moderated anything for many many months, for exactly that reason. So some other poor sod must be getting all the PMs. And done, and done, and over and done.

Service history printout from main dealer

Not 100% sure, I thought they were held in the vehicle only from when the service reset is done? They also update as they drive around as well (condition based servicing) back to base, but where that info is stored, and whether it can be queried, and/or printed I couldn’t tell you. All the “service records” I have seen printed, especially with the job details, have been printed from the DMS. Do they not stamp the Service Book anymore??🤪 -
Whilst it may seem like bad news, you are always better off knowing than not. Could save you a nasty surprise when driving!

Service history printout from main dealer

Correct, due to the importance of recalls being carried out they are co-ordinated through a central BMW AG run system. All other transactions between the customer and the dealership are recorded in the Dealership Management System (DMS), which is not a central system. As Gaz says above the info is dealer specific and cannot be accessed by any other dealer - for obvious reasons. -
BMW have been doing over the air updates for quite a while now, so long in fact that even the technology required to do so is in place in NZ. Connected Drive has offered facility to turn features off/on for a long time also. Its not really new news, it just seems to have filtered through to the click-bait media and reached the enthusiast community.

To quote the mighty 1/2 Man 1/2 Biscuit “irk the purists… it’s a right good laugh”

It is, but don’t let the facts get in the way of a click bait story. The parts cost is not insignificant, but putting that to one side, it’s the cost of handling and planning and balancing all the variety that racks up very quickly. Often viewed as an un-seen cost (as it’s outside old fashioned cost analysis methods) it has become very apparent to most manufacturers with the explosion of complexity over the last few years. Hence why pretty much EVERY company is now scrambling to dial back the number of choices. I’ve just paid the subscription for the heated seats in my E30 ‘vert so I could drive it more this winter. They don’t seem to make much difference tbh.

Personally I would struggle without the M-Sport kit on it, but there is not a lot of choice for 2-Series coupe in NZ. Great little fun cars, very chuckable!

On a “Super Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle” no less. From the screen shot the tune is suitable for the N51, but I’m wondering if it really works well with it? Yes, most is identical to N52, but those little differences could result in issues. I doubt it has had much real world use on that set-up.

Is This Where The E30 Market Is Now..?

Yeah, cause BMW doesn’t rhyme with “amends”. -

The bids are starting to come in on this one now, she’s up to $31k still not reserve met, be interesting to see where this ends up bid wise and where the reserve is set. 🍿 -

If the prices on TradeMe for E30 parts are where the market is then I’m sitting on a gold mine and should retire tomorrow. Should you want your eyes to really water, go on one of the E30 M3 sites, E30 tax x M3 tax is moonbeams! “Genuine E30 M3 door handle surround US$50” etc, when it’s the same as any E30. And then there’s the S14Bxx parts.. 💰 -

Rust and/or jacking damage has been a bone of contention with many E30 WoF inspections I would imagine. I know I have had discussions with various inspectors over both my ‘vert and race car as to whether what they were looking at was structural or not. In the end I found a sensible inspector and used them whenever needed. -
Cabin filter is up in and around there as well isn’t it? Can’t remember if you have to take that cover off to do the filter or not.

If that was dolphin grey I would be all over it. I might even be tempted if the reserve is not too silly. Couple of funny things going on with it would need looking into, Tech 1 s/wheel on Tech 2 car and headlight wash system half removed - possibly something to do with the funky screen wash system in the top of the bonnet.?
