  1. Hmmm... Vodafone "representative" not "salesman" just came around, offering ADSL2+ for $10 cheaper than our current telecom plan with 10GB more and a free ADSL 2+ router. Aparently ADSL2+ went in our street last week. Anyone on vodafone?

    Quick Questions

Question number 1 - Does engine check light output M50B25 E34 3.1 DME (Pin 8) simply provide a ground to the bulb? My car has no ECL, but id like to install something to read the codes, and to tell me if all is well! Im thinking I could simply install a bulb/LED, wire some juice to one side of it and run an extra wire to the C101/M50 loom Is it that simple, or is there some electrickery in the output from the DME? Question number 2 - Ive read conflicting storys about M50B25 auto DME's in manual cars. Do I need to ground pin 65 on the the DME to tell it its in park/neutral? Or will it start and run fine without it ground? Question number 3 - Am I right in assuming that road speed, RPM, fuel consumption run through the X20 on an M50'd E36/34 to the instrument cluster, but on an E30 run directly from the M20 DME to the instrument cluster? (I recall seeing the wiring for this under my dash, but am not 100%). So in theory I can just run these three wires up to the e30 C101/fusebox from the cluster and splice them into the M50 E34 loom that way? Having some wiring diagrams to look at for a 323 would obviously answer these, but I cant find any Cheers
  4. Any idea what the lumps about? Some sorta harmonic doofa maybe?

    The bastard child.

Epic project man, Im loving the flares BTW. Reminds me of a Rally DX corolla, but way more cool
  7. M50B25 = 325i M52B25 = 323i (late model E36's) M54B25 = Z3 2.5 more power and torques. M52B28 = 328i Its BMW trying to "balance" the 3 series range, Early E36 325 makes as much power as later 328, so when the 328 and M52's came out the 325 became the 323 and got a strangled M52B25. Its a 323 and not a 325 because they couldnt have older 325's being quicker than new 325's Aparently its relatively easy to de-strangle a M52B25 323 though, and get more performance out of it. Edit - Didnt make much sense Edit x2 - Still didnt make much sense
  8. Dont get ya M50 rocker cover acid dipped. Turns out theres quite a bit of magnesium in there.... Now a need a new one
  9. Went and picked up E30 bits to throw battery in boot, and a new E36 328i radiator. Picked up some M50 bits from the strippers, dumped them at the powder coaters. Coughed at all the smoke the M20B23 blew out as I accelerated, after engine braking down hill Keep telling myself its just gotta last 2 more months
  10. Talking to Glenn, M325's have beefier joints, The shafts have a raised lump halfway down them, normal ones dont seem too, which makes it easy to tell them apart. My 323i Sport has no lumps FWIW. Left a message on ya ph HellBM
  11. When I lived in Darwin, NT, 2L of Milk was $6AU, and it was just powdered milk rehydrated! Stop whinging Got paid less, and gas price fluctuated hugely daily. Grass is greener, my ass
  12. Complete with CV's, in good condition http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=...hg=33&fg=25 Car has no ABS, so it shouldnt AFAIK matter if theyre off ABS/Non ABS cars.

    M50B25 exhausts

Think I might have cocked the above formula up, equation is for a 4 cylinder engine so the equation for the secondary diameter is only taking the diameter of two primaries, whereas Ive got 2 lots of 3. Not 100% but I think it should be something like this - Which works out, 6x2x1 tuned for M50B25 at 6k rpm with stock cam - 1.55" ID 15" Primaries 2.5" ID 12.5" Secondaries

Does look like a good deal. Its not a M325, still got the poverty pack seats etc... Did genuine Alpinas come with BMW centre caps? Carjam - Licence expired 6 months 1 week ago on 24th March 2010. WOF expired 6 months 6 days ago on 25th March 2010. Last WOF inspection did not pass Odometer is all over the place too, and is in miles not k's...

Can anyone identify my front spoiler? Looks like its missing the lower edge/lip, but doesnt seem to look like a normal tech 1 front?
  21. Cheers man, added to my list , got any LSD fluid recommendations, I assume the 75w140 NS as well? Sorry for the Semi-Hijack F.G
  22. Got me a 3.64 LSD, sounds like a minter (35,000k on it) and some 17x7.5 Alpinas lined up. Im on the hunt for the diameters of M325 axles, want to double check that mine arent already M325 ones. Anyone have any advice other than go visit wreckers with a set of verniers? After some with good/newish CV's as I suspect mine are shagged too. If thats the only option anyone know of a wrecker with a set of M325i ones? Ive got a new centre bearing for the driveshaft, new seals for the gearbox (input, output, selector), new bushes for the shifter, and polyurethane bushes for the whole shibang, some new brake rotors, Still need to find a Z3/shortshifter, keep watching HellBM's trademe auctions Is there anything I am forgetting driveline wise that is likely focked at 140,000 miles? Wheel bearings seem good, I suspect the previous owner replaced them, is the guibo worth replacing in the name of peace-o-mind? Last I looked it looked fine and dandy. I have the first 2 weeks of December to near totally pull apart the E30 and then stick it back together again (with a new engine and coilovers), so dont really want to be waiting for a part ive forgotten, which could hold the rebuild up! Looking forward to driving this thing
