    Quick rant thread.

Those ryco filters are garbage too, I had one that had chunks of hotglue falling out of it, took it back. "bulk" packs of 6 or so genuine ones pop up on amazon/ebay often for the same price as one "preschoolers art project" ryco one.
  2. I might take you up on that! Was looking at them yesterday. Thanks!
  3. Anyone played with this stuff before, kinda interesting stuff. Similar application to Luxxio Speed Coating. Wash car, leave wet, spray it on, hose it off, dry car. Definitely leaves a slick surface like a wax but is quite quick to do, when drying it with a damp microfibre its actually kind of buffing it off as can see the film high spots getting removed (bottle says no buffing..but.. symantecs). Kinda pricey, but the results pretty decent and it is fast to apply, will see how long it beads for. Black sapphire metallic paint shows up bad waxes pretty well and its passed that test.
  4. Painted them Phoenix Yellow.. and thought the colour looked weird... So then redid them in straight yellow. No clear yet, but they're certainly yellow.
  5. No expert, but I did a bunch of reading on engine flushes, and came to no conclusion. Even some BMW sources say do not use engine oil flushes, and other provide it as a service... God knows whom is right (there is logic to both sides of the argument) That does look pretty nasty to be fair, so flushing its probably a good idea, just be prepared for leaking seals if any of the carbon blocking holes gets loosened. On the rust coloured stuff, thats just shmoo in the oil thats had the oil stripped out of it, from the degreaser, and it just cakes on. Its hard to get off short of media blasting (maybe vapour blasting would sort it?)
  6. Decals are a few weeks away, and apparently I want to stick them on an hour after the paints on, so seals and pistons in and Ill remask it while waiting for the postman.
  7. Shanes colours in Papakura hooked me up with some colour matched high temp enamel, gave lots of good advice as well. All cleaned up, then etch primed. Have the new decals ordered, so once they turn up its time to paint them weird yellow
  8. Lots of interesting things on this Aussie channel
  9. Removed the AU falcon from the 130, came out pretty nice, pretty solid dent but luckily not sharp.
  10. Different solenoids on the N52, they dont normally fail. Ill be putting in an FCP order next week or so, but I doubt they're expensive even from BMW NZ.

Nah parked next to it at the gym.

    Quick rant thread.

Shes not a good week for the 130. f**ken asswipe is a white au falcon, if ya hit someones car, sh*t happens, but be a f**ken man and sort it.
  13. From ISTA - Im not currently connected to my car so cant bring up the program for testing, but its definitely there.
  14. Wonder what a compression test would say. I saw there is a procedure for checking the CCV in ISTA+, required some BMW part numbered tools, but it might be worth looking into. Ill drag up the doc later tonight

WIll call them in a second, but yes it'll be going to BMW now.... In fairness I tried Novus for a windscreen on the 130 a few years ago and they didnt bring the right windshield (same deal, no rain sensor) and cancelled it. Shame on me for trying them again I guess... I cant believe the hack job reinstall of the cowl around the wipers, there is a literally a inch between the seal and glass. Dude must have been on another planet.

f**ken Novus. How are they so big and so sh*t at what they do. Turned up, pulled trim apart, scratched bonnet, realised didnt bring the moulding to replace windscreen, and then put the trim back incorrectly so I have a inch gap at the base of the screen now. Thats just what I wanted! A cracked screen, a scratched bonnet, and a gap that'll let birds make a nest in. Fantastic job.
  17. Did you clean out the intake when you did the CCV? There are lots of places for oil to pool and hide in the intake
  18. Stumbled over a thread on the internets that mentioned the BMWP calipers have ali pistons Vs the 135i calipers steel/ceramic. Which might explain why the BMWP calipers do exist as an upgrade for the 135i, other than the slotted/drilled rotors (and the paint) Finding part numbers for these things is absurdly difficult for a "modern" car, spent hours trying to find the bolts for attaching the caliper to the bracket, as Brembo keep it top secret, M12 1.5m x 72mm with a socket head... For anyone referencing this in the future - Porsche p/n 99907340201 Was curious what the "lumps" bolted to the outer edge were, so took em off, they're steel so Im assuming some sort of harmonic dampener.
  19. Might be fibreglass and chewing gum,, but damn cool. https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=2194809292
  20. Slow progress, but progress.. 2nd round of paint stripper, 3rd should have it. The factory paint is toughAF, bead blaster doesnt even touch it. Still havent found a source for high temp phoenix yellow locally, any suggestions?
