  1. I need to sort out insurance for this thing next week, the agreed value keeps dropping each year and Id never be able to replace it for what its currently insured at. Any input on whats a realistic figure? I roughly know what Ive spent on it in total, way over 20, but I figure I could semi-replace it for 17ish ? 2006 (Dec 05) 130i, NZ new (1 of 15) Full service history, until the start of this thread .. 246k on the clock (but looks better, even on the inside, than most sub 100k cars) Birds B1 kit, Quaife diff and the other stuff in this thread 19x8.5" ACS Type IV (genuine)
  2. Drag this one out of the depths - But P&S Auto Centre in East Tamaki. Very good job, know what they are talking about, and a whole workshop stuffed to the brim with cool BMW things too look at (and more E30s in one place than anywhere else ive seen!)
  3. Id give my left nut for a D3 touring
  4. You could probably import a Alpina D3 for that sorta cash?
  5. It kind of works in Aussie as they have serious fines, whereas here you get slapped with a wet bus ticket and that culture has stuck. It might work to introduce that here in the long run, but the sector who do not currently comply with the rules arent going to change any time soon. Part of it probably comes with our endless supply of dirt cheap imports, providing cars people cant actually afford at an affordable initial price
  6. I bet the proportion of the population that do not have any insurance, also struggle with the concept of wof/rego, and will treat "compulsory" insurance the same. I dont disagree with you at all by the way, its the same problem with a bunch of regulation - You end up writing regs for the people that follow them, not the people who just DGAF.

    Quick Questions

    Fixed itself overnight, clever bmw.
  8. Done. Beer time. Figure out what Ive busted on the front PDC sensors tomorrow
  9. Anyone come across these, or who would be the reseller in NZ?

    Quick Questions

Sweet, must be a dirty connector. I cleaned them all out with contact cleaner but suspect it probably blew dirt back down into the plug. Throws codes for front left and front right

    Quick Questions

Anyone know if the PDC sensors on an E8/9x are coded for specific canbus addresses, or if they are a simple sensor that plugs into the loom and that assigns which position its in. Im wondering if Ive switch two around, or have a dicky/dirty connector.
  12. Another interesting one, Gruppe M intake and an ACS (or rep) spoiler... dunno about the orange engine cover though. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1729273954.htm?rsqid=5da991badb794bceb453af0deba4f696
  13. There isnt really a pic of the old oil, (other than the windage plate?) inside of the sump is funny looking full of ripples from when they press it, and it reflects light strangely.
  14. A few more days of wet and dry sanding, compounding, polishing, realising missed a spot, OCDing, starting again, and its getting there. It also goes now Matt black rear valance looks pretty good (plastidipped), stands out less than the silver/grey standard colour. Engine is actually noticeably smoother with the new engine mounts, I guess they dont last 250,000k. Still have the roof to clean up, was too tall on the jack stands, and then its ceramic coating followed by a few beers.
  15. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6050787/Suicidal-Seattle-airport-worker-identified-Richard-Russell.html Sounds like a switch just flipped, and he thought feck it, im gonna go out in a bang. My guess is its sounds like he managed to back the Q400 off the gate, which is no easy task (engines in weird config to do it etc) , If he had the skill/knowledge of how to do that without stacking it, he could have easily landed it... but never intended to. Must have spent some time reading the manuals.
  16. There is some mad footage of him doing a barrel roll, serious "hold my beer watch this" stuff.
  17. Some mad fecker "Rich" has pinched a dash 8 Q400 (large turboprop). Not confirmed, but sounds like F15s have shot it down... Many reports of the sonic booms of them chasing it down. https://heavy-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/heavy.com/news/2018/08/seatac-plane-stolen-hijacked-grounded-seattle/amp/?usqp=mq331AQCCAE%3D&amp_js_v=0.1#referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From %1%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fheavy.com%2Fnews%2F2018%2F08%2Fseatac-plane-stolen-hijacked-grounded-seattle%2F
  18. N54/55 way more power and potential for even more power... every other department N52 is a nicer engine. Way better balanced in a hatch as well as is 50odd kg lighter.
  19. Not a fan of the quad exhausts, its only a hatchback, doesnt need that much thrust. Hopefully that carbon vinyl comes off easily too.. Rest looks very nice, and low ks, and no PDC in the boot to flood and short
  20. Dont have one sorry, you can probably pick one up pretty super cheap from supercheap though?
  21. Oh theres a scratch. Oh theres another dent. Oh theres another stone chip. There is a reason people pay other people to do this stuff :D 2 Hours per panel.. but shes looking pretty shiney!
  22. Midgets. Dead Midget Hookers.
