maybe idle should be about 750rpm, maybe adjust it up , or is there a reason its idling that low?? vac leak? , tps not working? afm worn out , afm fine tune screw set to lean??

e28 has the hydrolic booster brake system so power steering pump could be dragging the power out of the engine.how good is your p/s fluid, what speed does your car idle at , when sitting or working the steering , pushing the brake pedal fast , lights on , a/c on etc
-
yup looks ok black e28 with black leather pretty rare option. go well with a m52b28 when the old m20 blows it gasket
-
just check with the vinning place , if its just dereged and not writen off by issurer then just a matter of banging it through and see what they fail it on costs about $300 for the check , just get them to check the reg or chasis number first to make sure its all good to put through. if it has been writen off then you need a engineers cert on the repairs and chasis reports , wheel alignment etc etc

bmw made quite a few marine engines based on teh M30 3.5L lump 220hp on twin carbs , have also seen diesel 2.5l units 6cyl and 2l 4cyl m10 type in think i think i might have seen a 2.5L petrol (maybe m20 based but could be m30 type) the main thing with a boat motor is power to weight ratio . so i think a m20b25 or m20b27 would be better. you want a heat exchanger unit built around the exhaust manifold. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-mari...n-477128257.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-mari...n-477518018.htm how about a 4L or 4.4l V8 have seen a few done for jet boats etc

did you do an engine swap recently , check the earth straps on the left engine mount side and the small one on the back of the rocker cover going back to the firewall. your injectors earth through the engine block. also check the bolts on the inlet manifold that the injectors earth to. just doubel check all electrical conections , is your ICV working properly (should respond quickly if put under load at idle) like turning the power steering quickly from side to side , lights on a/c on , push brake pedal lots and fast. have you got an alarm arr all the ignition conections well connected ??

join green and red wires for ignition , purple wire is radio/fan etc. touch black/yellow for the starter wire to the green/red ps. what brand ,width and offset are those 15" alloys

i have a m3 bumper in fibre glass , i think its for a coupe can view in papakura 021433600

if you have spark that means the crank angle sensor is working ok. so means you might not have injector pulses unplug the cam sensor and try that. moisture/corrosion in the ecu (have seen that a few times) test plug in the 4L ecu will run ok. also make sure you have a good battery that cranks fast. could be flooded ,just keep cranking with your foot flat on floor. pull a plug out see if its wet etc
-
thats a weird one . maybe it likes to be earthed as well or mounted to the head instead of sitting in the middle of a hose etc have you tried that?? also paint your bumper eh!!!
-
i think its a e46 type he is asking about not e36
-
what colour is the plug on the temp sender , does it need to be earthed?? single or 2 pins??
-
yes all audis' and VW models eat transmissions for breakfast even the manuals. they also chew out these parts in big numbers coil packs, trans coolers , starters , alternators , power steering racks and pumps wheel bearings etc etc hard to work on due to the engines being mounted in the front bumper. 4wd trans are a pig to remove just my 2 cents
-
the ecu unit is a nice tidy option. i wish marty had used something like that in his e28 m30 turbo. so what other inputs does it have for the turbo and boost control and extra sensors etc
-
yea marty (bmweapon) needs a new paddock basher the old e23 730i is getting a little bit beaten up. http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....t=0&start=0
-
sounds more like faulty coils ,pretty common to go as they have a limited life , you might have a few that are failing
-
cant remember what the plug is for but brown is earth and red/blue is power , maybe for auto trans stuff
