what year is it , there are 2 types of micro switches used , the earlier cars have the switch inside the door attached to the outside handle mech. the later cars have teh switch in the door jam. both can fail . later one much easier to fix . also the outside door handle mechs can crack and break etc.

i use a jvc model which you can change the colours to suit

e32 and e34 should be the same but the e38 or 39 ones are different , different plugs and electronics indside etc i suppose if you could get a e38 one and remove the good bits and fit them into a e34 one that might work ok.

OLD thread dig. brought buy a mate of mine in the bmw club recently, he has had it reged etc , so can be drven legally on the roads now. the guy had reg it as a quad bike(as it was imported orginally by a car yard as a parts or race car only car not intended to be on nz roads) so my mate had to dereg it then rereg it as a car again as the new lhd rules means you can reg these sort of cars now. just needed a few things like rear shocks ,a brake hose and a couple of other small things etc . drives quite nice , low k's , a bit tricky driving on the left and with a manual though. still has the PP number plate on it

what are you wanting to know?? what colours etc?? i have a e34 bently manual and the late 525i etc have similer diagrams etc. also i have spare m52b28 engine loom from a e39 etc

not sure , but make sure your (possitive)power wires dont run next to your audio wires.

ah yes sorry forgot .

its a good time do a head overhaul , valve seat grind ,skim the head test for cracks , warps etc new valve stem seals fitted about $300-500 for that lot done at a head shop . new cambelt , water pump ,tensioner , all top end gasgets etc. gasget set should be about $200-300 ,cambelt , water pump , tensioner $100+ etc

i had a an engine like that once , blew the gasget out between 2 cylinders , but was not over heating etc. just keep cutting back from 6 to 5 or 4 cylinders when driving. should be ok , get the head off and checked , cleaned up etc . can sort a replacement head if needed. pretty easy job .

e24 body panels are different from e23 e28 etc . only some electrics or mech parts might be the same ,. later e24 like 86 has the same runing gear , suspension . brakes etc as a e28 535i etc . engines are easy to sort rust is not . front wings $1000 plus each

also check the skinny white wire behind the stereo has power going to it from the blue ant power wire .
