you will need a matching driveshaft and maybe mount etcwhat is that gearbox from a e30 m20 ??? dont know that number. where did you get that number from. what abou the diff ratio you have??? how many rpm at 100kmh in 5th is it doing . just buy a good used getrag 220 from a 316i 318ti 318is 318i 320i 323i 325i or zf from a 328i or m3. i can help there if you need. 021433600 neither give much trouble , most will see 400,000km if oil is changed and idiots dont change gears with no clutch etc

have brought plenty of cars with expired reg owing to old owner ,. thats there problem not yours once you change the ownership to your name. unless the guy selling it wants you to pay for it before he sells it to you as part of the deal but its there responsiblitly to pay there reg when they own it!!!!!! but check the car is not dereged , then you will have to recomply it and that will cost you heaps

correct , change the ownership at DOS , then put the reg on hold if you are going to take a while to get a wof for it. the old owner will still get the reg bill for when he owned it not you . so thats not your problem ,

you only pay reg from when you transfer the ownership to your name , so if its out of date they will send a bill to old owner . , so buy the car , get a wof , transfer the ownership then buy reg from that date.

my mate brendan that brought the 525ixT off you has a 1995 520ia a bit scruffy in the paint etc , but good mech and electrically , has the later ecu type , keyless entry , ZF trans etc and had a recent replacement lower millage engine fitted to it .individual leather interior with wood trim etc , on std 15" bbs wheels $2k ono

factory fitted by bmw nz (first owner) adds at least 100hp

the gearbox will lean over a little if mated up to a m20 block , but otherwise will work ok . 5th gear is 1:1 on all 5spd e36 boxes. so you will be wnating a taller diff ratio like 2.93 to 3.45 etc

door card off , remove glass (tricky on a coupe) then unbolt all the door handle mech and latch

BUMP!! great car , would make a orsome car to do a project with , m3 engine , 328i engine 330i engine etc??? or just enjoy it as it is , drives real nice. just went out to maratai in it today , enjoyed the drive even managed to see a pod of dolphins just out from the beach

what year is it , there are 2 types of micro switches used , the earlier cars have the switch inside the door attached to the outside handle mech. the later cars have teh switch in the door jam. both can fail . later one much easier to fix . also the outside door handle mechs can crack and break etc.

i use a jvc model which you can change the colours to suit

sounds good , why not stuff a 328i m52 engine and manual into it while you have the engine out?? good torque for hill climbs??
