would look at the blue 525i 93 or the dark blue 94 525i (probably the better option) or ian's 540i .

i like this "It has a K60 Rolls Royce multi fuelled engine ( Runs on Diesel, Petrol, Kero, Methanol, Av gas etc or mixture of any of these) and 6 stage Allison auto. Fuel is basically free as we just collect mixed fuel from workshops and throw it in. Normally workshops have to pay to dump it"

probably a wiring issue with the trans sport/ecno and manual switch . wrong switch or wiring back to the trans computer -
you can see the back one with the oil cap off . but maybe a little mirror and a bright torch you might be able to see . but its only a 10min job to take off and peace of mind . if its tappy up top then pull it off.

just been at a local panel beater , and he has fitted a lexus 4l v8 and auto in to a e34 525i , what a mess, and it still doesn't drive . has brake issues , lots of wires to sort, and will still have to change diff, axles , sort exhaust etc etc. he has had it sitting around for about 4years uncompleted now the cars are pretty worthless. a lot of work when you consider you can pick them up for about 3-5k now . i only think its worth it if you stick the engine into a smaller car like a e30 ,e28 or e36 etc but you would need the manual gearbox and that will cost you plenty $$$$$

check for rust at top front edges of thr front doors , around under the boot lip . around corners of both screens. 2.8L engines dont give much trouble . a nice upgrade is to fit the 3.5L engine (bolts stright in) pretty easy to sort most problems on these cars . have heaps of bits if needed. incl a mtec body kit etc is it a manual or auto?? grab it if its a manual .

i have one in papakura
-
coupe or sedan ?? have 100,000km coupe that will be a 5spd soon

nice write up . good to see someone doing properly and moding these M engines , i too am thinking about doing my M5 engine that i have in the e28 . stroke it with a 86mm(from a e34 535i) or if i can get a 3.8L M5 90mm crank . custom light weight pistons borede out a bit on the factory rods to make about 3.66L and headers etc . well we can all dream . good work
-
that one in the link looks ok ,. make sure its for a single mass flywheel , also lighten your flywheel by about 2.5kg while you are at it . 10kg for normal m535i flywheel . m5 uses a 7.5kg one . just had mine done , engine picks up quicker now. i have got clutches from auto clutch in morningside (ak) about 300-400nzd for a complete kit incl bearing and he can do beafier ones if you think you have too much power for a std one
-
and this is why i sold my 540iT , you cant mod them easy like a e34
-
i have a large case e32 750i lsd diff and a large case e34 540i diff . both 2.93 ratio . but might have other options on ratios if that helps with the bits you need. 021433600
