check for broken wires at the tail gate hinge area . also remove check and measure each door switch as for idling , check for vac leaks etc , all hoses around the manifold etc

yea . thats the early box 1982/83 etc, seperate bellhousing model with overdrive 5spd. later ones had one piece gearbox case with same style of shifter ,. called getrag 260/5 then came the getrag 260/6 with newer ali shifter mech etc

some pics of the work done under the rear of the car . and a pic of the old SS exhaust system thats fitted to my car . car handles pretty good now . had a nice drive last sunday with the bmw car club , on a M-RUN . had a chance to test out all the work done , stiffer sway bars , stiffened bilstein shocks, replaced all the rear bushes with pretty solid red stuff . replaced the old brake lines with the SS ones , (what a differnce in the pedal feel) lightened flywheel weighed 10kg now 7.4Kg engine revs up alot easier now , new M5 clutch plate , replaced some of the clutch bits like clutch fork (pretty worn after 508,000km) and a little plastic nipple that the clutch fork rests on at one end, replaced some oil seals at the end of the engine and gearbox etc . clutch feels nice and smooth now , no more shudders and has a nice progressive feel to the pedal .

just had some work done my 86 e28 M535i . now my ABS doesn't work . had new brake pads fitted front and rear , also replaced all the std rubber brake lines with stainless steel braided lines . brakes work orsome now ,. real tight brake pedal feel etc . but since picking up the car and after teh M-run drive last sunday my abs is not working , but no abs light has come up . have replaced the 2 relays in the abs pump , no difference , have sawpped the abs ecu box out with another , still no difference even when you unplug one of teh abs wheel sensors the warning light doesn't light up . not sure where else to look , there is no fuse for the abs in the fuse box that i can see . so did the blending of the brakes do something to pump?? or maybe when i picked it up drove home ,and when i got home the car didn't start because teh battery was flat so had to jump start it . maybe that has caused something ???

yea , but that one was the very rare and sort after getrag 265 box ,close ratio dog leg unit (excellent unit for racing) .have a look on ebay.de they sell for over 1500euro's

well you will have to make up some rail adaptors. but i suppose you can do that .quite a lot smaller foot print than the e36 rails.

yes they are nice seats , had some that i sold a while ago , was thinking about fitting them to my e28 .they wont bolt in to a e36 though .

just doing one up now(or should i say stripping one down ) for a paddock basher . got a e36 320i coupe . no panels . just seats , engine ,rad , gearbox , suspension etc . will post up some pics soon . we had a lot of fun in jan at marty's place in drury with some e34's 535ia 525ia and a e23 730ia. now its the e36 more nimble chasis agianst the giant e34's . no doors , no glass , no guards , no bonet . bumpers , lights etc . just some grippy full treaded tyres and a rev happy engine . should be fun

what year is the gearbox out of , does it have the sensor mount holes on the side of the bell housing thanks

are you trying to stir a hornets nest here but i have been in glenn's car this week , and its pretty good now (pretty quick going up clevedon rd) quicker than my e36 325i 5spd coupe but maybe not quite there with a silver surfer , with a few more laps under his belt , he will be knocking on your door of your red rat rod..

you need 2 ,3 or more people to hold big screwdrivers under them to lift them up -
they dont normally give a lot of trouble , have had diffs with 500000km on thme and still ok , sometimes noisy bearings , but if you are swapping bits around to fit your diff case all thi scan be checked . i wouldn't worry too much about it .

i did a e28 535i m30 engine like that long time ago . just lay the head upside down on some blankets with some bits still attached , cleaned it up ,. new headgasget and away it went again , and i still see the car driving around . had a mecanic mate who brought a holden barina or something like that once with a blown head gasget . he just lifted the head up a bit and slid a new gasget in there . and away it went . real cheap fix . dogy though

i agree , get the later cars built on a real chasis , or you could just buy a real chasis (E28) M535i or M5 . go on .its a lighter faster car .
