i paid $165 for mine, from trade me

just std overdrive box getrag 260/6 .about a 0.8 or so . with a 3.07 diff .. this engine doesn't have as much torque down low in the revs as the std M30 3.5 engine had . so a bit laboursome around 2000rpm . torque/power exceeds std engine at about 4000rpm . where the old engine just pulled strong in th elow revs . so at 50km/h 3rd gear less than 2krpm . 100km/h 5th gear less than 2krpm . needs to be about 2500rpm in those gears at that speed I think.

yes first real drive , just got it back from the petes muffler shop . yes goes pretty good , just need to get it tunned proper and sort the diff out

guys said nothing about the engine or the modified engine mount , only mention was an exhaust clamp sitting a bit low underneth . the fact is the car is real low in the front ( stupid jamex springs) going to have to change that soon , dont like the ride . car runs great m not easy to drive in trafic to work . heavy clutch which shudders a bit if you tak eoff to slow , heavy throttle spring ,and the diff gearing is to tall for this engine . 3.07LSD , so will change it to something like 3.46 or 3.64 etc .. taking to hi-velocity on monday for a bit od dyno tunning etc . maybe get some spacers for the front springs as well

try auto clutch in morningside , they just make them to what ever spec you want . just got one for my m5 engine , carbon /kevlar clutch disc with uprated pressure plate etc .

yep hurry up . buy that red e34 535i thtat needs an top end , then you can buy my mint motor i have . or just buy the black M5 on trade me for $25k then throw lots of $$$$$ at it

have to get the headers reshape to fit the exhaust system proper . just jammed 2 smaller pipes into to join the ends together , so still noisy , driving around the block at 10pm , also have to get the rhs engine mount modified to fit better etc . and needs a bit of a tune etc . adjust clutch travel (too much travel with new modified clutch) had to muck around with some of the little coolant hoses etc , to suit the e28 system etc seams to go ok , didn;t realy try it out properly realy starts to pull over 4000rpm , but couldn't do go much further to much noise .. booked into exhaust place for monday ,, looking forward to driving it properly ..

where or what do you get the 3.1 crank from ... just took my m535i with m5 engine for its first little drive around the block tonight ..woh!! need to do a few things first , before nailing it .

just took my 86 m535i with m88 for its first test drive tonight (noisy exhaust needs to be welded up ) around the block . just got the new radiator in , as you say it pulls just above 4000rpm. have to do a little fine tunning etc . looking forward to driving it a lot ,

1 has the ugly turbine wheel covers and no rear spoiler and no cool headlight washers.. nice cars though

di you build this engine up ,. my mate has got a black 89 nz new 325iA black with recaro's leather , obc ,sunrrof etc etc . motor has been cooked a couple of times (previous idiots) but he has a 525e engine sitting in garage also a 2L head , a 2.3hartge H23 head and S/S headers also the 2.3block from the heartge head . what do we need to know to make it all work . we thought the 2.3hartge head fitted to the 2.7block and hooked up with the 325i ecu /loom etc and get the ecu reprogrammed . any thoughts . ps , also do a 5spd conversion while we are at it .

just check the tags on the diff . also make sure its a large case diff . should have 8 bolts around the output shafts flanges. a 3.64 is a good ratio

all the auto's incl 4 and 5spd ones have top gear as being a overdrive as the 5spd manual boxes have top gear being one to one , so think about driving around in 4th in 5spd auto . thats the revs it will be doing unless you get the matching diff , should be around 3.07 to 3.46 depending on what you like , i had a 3.73 with the auto i think . now i have a 3.25 and it revs a bit harder than it did with the auto , but thats ok , more fun .

i had my 325ci done , cost $500 larbour incl swapping diff , no majours with ecu , just thinks its in nuteral all the time , car runs fine . i used a m50 box etc , diff from a manual e36 325i etc . and a flywheel,clutch from e30 320i etc (lighter flywheel)... you can use gearbox kit from a 320i e36 , just need to use front part of manual driveshaft fitted to the rear of original shaft . i had all the parts from a donar damaged car i stripped , but swapped flywheel ,clutch , starter out for e30 one and brought a diff from the wrecker $400 .

try a new belt and see if its ok , , i have alternators if needed . 021433600ah

no , i used a M50 gearbox .and had to swap diff to match gearing of the 1:1 top gear

i had some monkey mechanics down the road do my e36 325ci ( harder than e30) took them about a day and a bit , had to fit gearbox twice because i gave them wrong type of flywheel , gave them e34 525i type was too thick and was scraping back of sump then swapped it over for e30 320i type no probs then . also included swapping e36 starter for e30 type .. used a lighter e30 flywheel and clutch instead of dual mass e36 type ... cost me $500 for labour ,
