I'd have to vote against that comment about the "4.4 vs 4.6" as I've driven them both. The 4.6 is a far more focused machine. Most people could feel a 45kw and 40nm increase. YES, mine was the clean one on the left haaha. Mine was a import 4.4 and the uncles was the 4.6is and driving them one after another you really can notice the difference, there kinda has to be with the price difference. I paid 22k for my 4.4, uncle paid over 60k for his NZ new low k one. I hear you with the maintenance costs on the 3.0d services typically from the BMW agent are around the 800-900 mark, then again though the intervals are 25,000km Most BMW dealerships offer free servicing for two years as did my deal unlimted k's. They do make more economic sense because in the real world, the extra torque over the V8 makes a better drive & coupled with the 1000km to a tank I don't think you can go wrong. The ONLY thing missing is that V8 note!

Even if they did, the Chinese would just ROFL. I bet the build quality on them is absolute crap too.
-
Absolutely love it, I actually think I've found a car that does everything, it kinda goes offroad, it tows well, very economical yet very powerfull & has all the room that I'd ever need, oh yeah, it looks good. 3.0i in the X3 will pump along very well. I've driven the X5 variant and it was a little sluggish with the extra pounds it has to shift & the V8 doesn't use alot more fuel. I'm personally not a fan of that interior colour on that 4.4 "is" LOL

What an absolute muppet, why didn't the clown just buy a Mustang?
-
No FFS, not the car again.... Looking at getting my X5 power chip upgraded (not the cheap common rail upgrade) If it's installed it gives a reasonable power increase but the thing I'm after is better economy & earlier torque. Has anyone had this crowd do their cars before? SuperChips The graph is here: PowerCurve Those increases put the car up there with the new 3.0sd almost.

Looks good Ray but christ, those wheels? Good luck You might be able to help mate, I'm seriously looking into a chip upgrade for my 3.0d Are you guys into this or?
-
The 3.0i petrol is an absolute waste of space IMO. Friend of mine has a 3.0d also and on a trip he gets 1000km (it's actually Laurie Mains's old one in get this "Highland Green" ) I'm yet to have mine on a trip but I'm taking it to the Rakia fishing competition so I'm towing the bike up, I should be able to get there and back on a tank.

Pictures? The auction has expired

Yeah, the uncle has had a 4.6is & it was the 5 speed auto and was definitely the pre-facelift at a 2002 model, I had it for 3 months when I was selling it for him, there's a few floating around & certainly more than 3 hahahaha! I think it's just a kitted 4.4 210kw 440nm job which I've owned before myself. Something is weird here, either the clown who put that plate there was told bullshit or he was trying to have people on? I've never seen one in that colour before, it looks better & better each time I look at it. My old 4.4 got good mileage on the open road, around town it was a bit of a dog say 18litres per hundi, but then again, I do have very heavy jandals.
-
Be better off just buying an M5 for that money?
-
Same here, wait, I do have a diesel one.
-
I didn't think there was, version 1 E53 were a 4.6is then the facelift saw the 4.8is (to my knowledge) The joker has even gone to the trouble of the number plate. LOLJAM calls it a straight up & down 4.4 It has to of had a kit of some form fitted either at factory or after market. I have seen a 4.6is like this before with this kit.

Rather rare car, I wonder why they never sold more 4 doors? Was it a limitation thing? I can see that thing being worth big bucks in 10-20 years time.
-
Ahahahahaha! Could be the same guy huh?
-
Visit My Website Nice looking truck, I've never seen a 4.4is before, always thought they were the 4.6.

I'm getting about 10.2 at the moment. We live 300m above sealevel here and getting to our house is quite steep, so it requires a bit more jandall getting up here. For it's size I just can't understand how well the X5 performs. It got it serviced yesterday and the chap there said that if I get it chipped it will have the same performance as the twin turbo ones (210kw & 580nm) The upgrade has proven very reliable & this is a BMW service agent that supply's & fits it, he also said it improves economy & won't void it's warranty.
-
Jeeze, it was like being without an arm! I've already offered our services to Andrew, if something comes up or happens he has my number.
-
Has it got a warranty and or cooler? If you could afford to I'd buy a tow unit, diesel ute or something along those lines.
-
Hey just a quick question to you angel eye experts here. Wanting to know if I can replace my current angel eye bulbs on my E53 for LED ones to sharpen up the picture a bit? They do come across as a bit dull compared to the newer versions? Cheers.

X5 3.0d puts hand up, I've got overkill recovery gear for my ATV but it's useless here in Dunedin.

As a retailer I hate this site with a passion! We've luckily never been quoted against it, but one thing I will bring up with this is that there's a hell of alot of floater businesses that come and go because they can't afford to absorb their low margins which creates warranty issues, I've heard of huge wait times for products to arrive and I've also heard of suppliers supplying cheap non-original rip off brands. It's buyer beware, I'd suggest for those who do use it to atleast stick with a larger or known retailer because paying that little bit extra can sometimes be a whole lot more beneficial.

Those 135i's are supposed to be the jazz. I seen the review Australian Top Gear done on it a while back. Be good to hear how they are in the real world.

Whats the go with AV gas, is it illegal to use on the road? Not that it would worry some ha!

Jeeze.. Few STEALERS I mean DEALERS have had their hands on it. It really doesn't count towards the worth of this thing in my opinion, IF it's a genuine clean low milage NZ New. It should be a 12-15k car to the right person.
