    Actual Speed

I wonder how accurate those speed display signs are Using a passenger and one of those signs, I discovered that my speedo is only 2kph above what I'm really doing I think they get a bit confused when there's lots of traffic, so I tried it when it was the middle of the night with no other traffic around
  2. awesome car !! I see a black one on the motorway every now and then and they look fantastic

    E36 Jatco auto box

Mine is starting to jerk when it's dead cold and only from 1st to 2nd Had it fixed under warranty last year I'm not going to bother to get it fixed again (will try resetting the computer and getting it serviced though to see if that helps) Will just go for the manual conversion once I've saved up for it
  7. driving lights are quite dim though aren't they? I was thinking of the really bright yellow ones that some people have right next to their headlights

    "Rangi Mods"

not so much a rangi fix ... because it's not actually fixed lol but my mate's Corona, the starter motor is stuffed so instead of fixing it, he always parks up the top of a bit of an incline so he can jump start it lol although that usually means that he's blocking the driveway for everyone else who visits

    Awkward

well yea that's a given [edit] I must've done something right because it's our anniversary today
  10. I always use my fog lights at night, it helps light up more of the road surface without having to use full beams. Have driven past cops many many times with them on and never been pulled up. What really grinds my gears is so called fog lights that are mounted right next to the headlights. Yea they're really going to light up the road underneath the fog level.
  11. yep very cheap and quick to do, they just plug a scanner in and reset it it resets the transmission computer back to stock factory settings, and from there it will adapt to your driving style over the next thousand km's or so [edit] didn't really do anything on mine, but my gearbox had other major issues but I have heard of success in some cases, and it's the cheapest quickest thing that you can try out
  12. Any BMW mechanic or transmission specialist will be able to do it for you

    Awkward

I was taking this girl I was interested in for a hoon in my old Camry (yea real cool car, honest). Was giving the car a bit of a trash over the rural back hill roads behind Upper Hutt (Whitemans - Mangaroa - Maymorn for any locals). Get almost towards the end of the road and back to civilisation, when I notice that the temp gauge is rather high; I pull over and notice that there's a huge trail of coolant behind me, and a lot of steam coming out the bonnet. We were stranded for an hour while I waited for the thing to cool down so I could drive her to the train station so she could get home. How embarrassing
  14. yea I saw a car nearly wipe out a bike this morning people need to learn to look in their mirrors and turn their head for a quick look before changing lanes spotted a white e36 in Upper Hutt mall this afternoon just after 5pm it looked a bit worse for wear no front bumper and one side of it had quite a number of dents
  15. mine is tucked away on the right hand side (drivers side) on my E36 it wasn't exactly in it's correct place though, I found it dangling down just behind the bumper one day when cleaning it so I taped it up behind the bumper with some duct tape lol

    Palindrome

lol nice copy of the ad that my work did which was also a copy of some South American ad
  17. lol yea have been deliberately trying to find reasons to leave my desk so I can overload her with requests she seems to have relaxed a bit more over the last week and has told her staff that they only need to let her know when they're going on breaks / lunch / home for the day oh and her husband crashed their car a few days ago ... instead of asking him if he's ok, she started swearing her head off at him over the phone and slammed it down in disgust poor guy
  18. would be very interesting to see how race cars would cope with Lambton Quay
  19. Good news, I got the job I was interviewed for Starting salary is $6,000 more than what I'm on now, and I can get cheap insurance (including car insurance) OMG I'm so happy, it is such a relief to know that I wont have to put up with the crap at my current work place for much longer Now to starting making notes for the exit interview
  20. the gearbox adapts to your driving style and sometimes resetting the computer so it re-learns your driving style can help with the Jatco jerk
  21. LOLppps. daytime tv mega sux
  22. I was talking with a friend of a friend He said that he thought he had heard my manager's name been mentioned by someone else ages ago. So he asked a couple of people whether they recognised her name .... well apparently one of his friend's ex's used to work for her and within a few months of this manager starting, half the team had resigned and everyone was miserable. I'm really going to have to speak up at my exit interview about this lady, she's going to just keep on making people miserable unless someone does something about it. She is just not manager material, some people are and some people aren't. 2 other people I work with (it's a fairly small team) are also going for interviews elsewhere this week; at this rate she's not going to have many people left. ps. got a 2nd interview this Friday ... now that's promising pps. this time I'm on bimmersport during the day because I'm home sick
  23. I was never allowed to buy ciggies with food vouchers ... made me give up smoking pretty quick, so I thank them for that ... that was like over 9 years ago though. I'm not much of a drinker, so never bothered trying to buy booze with them. Like you said about the States, they don't have anything like what we do and look at how many are living on the streets over there. I don't wish for anyone to live on the streets, but people on the benefit need to show that they should be on the benefit (ie sickness or dpb) or need to show that they have at least been trying to look for work and / or do winz courses to try to better themselves. In fact, one of the winz courses I did got me some work experience which really helped me get into the "I really want to work" mindset. I'll admit that after been on the benefit for a few months, I became very lazy and just could not be bothered doing anything about it. My mate was on the benefit for a number of years and he was exactly the same ... absolutely no motivation to do anything about it. I know that's only 2 examples, but I do believe the longer you are on the unemployment benefit the more likely you are of getting complacent and not bothering to do anything about. The new reforms will encourage them to do something about it ... albeit in a bit of a harsher way than what everyone is used to. I don't have anything against people been on a sickness benefit as long as they can show that they deserve it (and I'm pretty sure winz pays for the doctor visits, so no excuses). I don't have anything against solo mum's or dad's been on the DPB, but only until their child or children are at primary school and don't require a parent to be home all day.
  24. maybe I should have said high class escorts ... oh wait ... back to the oxymoron again lol
