    E39 528i ACS

Thanks Man, Yeah i agree. They DIY Shadowline looks much better than the factory chrome. My previous two BMW's were both E34 540's, hence the desire for another V8

^^ Cheers mate. If it didn't have the ACS body kit, then I'd consider your offer! Though E39's have some funky hub bore, and e34 wheels will not work without machining the centre bore to suit. e39 wheels will work on e34's though provided you use hubcentric rings. I prefer ACS type II's rather than the type III's, though i havent seen too many sets of staggered type III's around. Will continue fixing this up, but really still unsure if i'll keep it long term or flick it and find a tidy 540i Motorsport (I do miss the V8!)

So. Have done a few things since I picked her up. - Replaced cluster LCD (dead pixels are now gone, though I note after some time running, the whole LCD unit becomes quite orange. Purchased the LCD off trademe and I think that it is rubbish quality. I intend to source a new LCD at some time in the future) - Fixed the OBC/TV screen: Appeared to be a loose ribbon cable inside the unit. Still flickers on occasion but works 99%. - Did a partial coolant flush and noticed that the cooling system bits are all old and brittle. Have ordered a bunch of items from Schmiedmann, and picked up a genuine coolant reservoir from JG BMW (Schmiedmann didnt seem to carry the correct one in stock? Dealer was about $20 more expensive than pelican for this part) - Plasti Dipped the Chrome window trim and side trim. Used a CRC product which I found at supercheap. Seems to work much the same. Came out ok - quite happy with the look. Still a wee way to go with this, but still happy as with it Pic for fred:
  4. Has been for sale for AGES. Lovely looking car, and while i think its probably worth top $, i do think he's asking too much. From memory he's not very negotiable.

    E34 M5's

Petrol V8's will always be relevant.
  6. I've had this problem before also.
  7. I thought the sls I keep seeing is hot. But that's pure sex right there. It's a Stirling moss, right?
  8. Disassembly of the cluster and replacement ribbon cable/lcd unit. Would be reasonably simple if I had an extra pair of arms, and if 16 year old plastic wasn't prone to disintegration
  9. Repaired dead pixels on my e39. Not a job I'm keen to repeat, but stoked with the results. Just need to sort the monitor out and the interior is done.
  10. Nothing quite like a shooting tool in a tight joint...
  11. Love the Ti Ray. I'll be in touch soonish about a manual swap for my e39.. also keen to talk about other possibilities...
  12. The black one with 59km for $44k looks like a better deal.
  13. same story with my E39 - I'm replacing the following: Waterpump Belts Thermostat Thermostat housing All Hoses Expansion Tank Coolant level sensor Bleed screws Radiator looks good so i might just leave that, but will replace the drain tap.
  14. Hi All, after a widescreen OBC monitor to replace my broken 4:3 with. IF anyone can help please let me know cheers
  15. Yeah. Imo, super cats aren't too bad for cheapies. Certainly MUCH better than any of the cheap and nasty kinglong wingstar types. Had super cats on the civic, were sweet with a daily commute over paekak hill.
  16. Keep seeing a fjordgrau e39 M5 in my parking building off boulcott st. My favorite car in my favorite colour!
  17. Yes, My experience of Warren too. In fact I wouldn't take my wheels anywhere else.
  18. Blown Big end Bearing. Grab yourself a project or something lol $1 reserve http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/subaru/legacy/auction-652868200.htm Located in Paraparaumu. Cheers
  19. Did my E39 lights yesterday. Simply rubbed down with 1500 wet, then used variable speed buffer + Mothers paint cleaner, and then buffer and 3m polish (just what i had in the shed). Haven't waxed or sealed them yet, but results are impressive - they look new. They needed sanding due to the high level of pitting.
  20. Shadow lined kidneys, de-condensated headlight, polished both headlights, got heated seats working, and fixed poor throttle response by cleaning throttle body. Also seems to have improved low rpm torque. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
  21. I would like that, but tapatalk won't let me. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
  22. How much for steering wheel? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
  23. Sounds like the uniden in my wifes old car. Bloody horrible thing that would always trip up WOF inspectors, no matter how many detailed instructions they were given.
  24. Had an AVS alarm in my Legacy. Seemed ok, had an inbuilt Turbo Timer, and i know that they have options that include GPS tracking. Remotes can be programmed to your garage door too.
