Tried a cassette adaptor but the sound quality was so s**t it drove me crazy.Loaded all my i-pod music onto cds--not perfect but I'm now a happy man!!.

Since we're a bit off topic here's a goodie for you. Several years ago a friend of mine who manages a large company & who at the time was about 26 was looking to replace his & the company owners vehicles. Went to a well known BMW dealership ,quite literally with cash in hand so to speak, as the decision had already been made as to which models each wanted. Despite being very well dressed as he always is he was virtually ignored & treated with disdain. Within 24 hrs the company had purchased 2 mercs at a cost of around $300k. This company upgrades every year. This incident happened about 10 yrs ago & both are still driving mercs. Work that out !! Dumbarses!

I had some discussion with this guy a few months ago when i was selling one of my cars & as a consequence I got to talk to the previous owner(of 9 years) who is a BMW tech. It sounds from everything he told me that ,certainly at the time he sold it,it is a good solid well maintained car & frankly if the OP had wanted to go ahead with the deal I would have done it sight unseen. Unfortunately I see he opted for a vintage 540.Oops,or should that be classic? PS: good luck with the sale

$20 per week on maintainence WTF !! Pleeease tell me your secret. If you've got a good reliable $5k car then of course its worth maintaining.

Just to give a price example albeit a little historical.About 18mths ago i bought an absolutely immaculate low kms 98 740il off TM for $15k so while I agree with your comment re some on TM the thing I love about TM is if you watch long enough you can always get what you want. Since then prices are definitely down so I stand by my comment that $10k is too much. PS the 7 is still in the family & to date has only required contol arm bushes(surprise,surprise) & routine maintainence. Good luck with the hunt (& forget the 30-soooo slow!)

Definitely go for a 40 (or 50 lol). $10k probably a bit high for a 96 imo. My own preference is the il's,theres just something about that extra length.

Welcome.I admired your car when it was on TM. No doubt if you've been watching this forum you'll know to check out the cooling system if it hasnt already been replaced. 740's are soooo cool!!

You dont need to pay anywhere near $12k for a 96 with 171ks on it.Looks nice but possibly as much as $3k over the current market value. You're right tho-they're a hell of lot of car for the money.
