  1. Thanks Jeeves! Good to hear from a passat man! dad said he'd rather have the mercedes so i said OK! lol.. guess it will be my car for a while.. still looking for a bmw.
  2. hmmm yea i suppose the 2 door coupe is the real downside. but i would imagine most family's that have kids have at least 2 cars. one car for the kids/wife and one for the man
  3. The car was suprisingly very nice to drive. Decent amount of power and everything about it felt pretty good. It has had the cambelt done at 130ks. Ive bought the car after having it checked out briefly at SJ's shop and will be taking it back soon for usual maintenance things to be done. On another note, looking at a couple of bmw's this weekend!
  4. Hi everyone I am looking at a NZ NEW 2005 Volkswagon Passat Station Wagon V6 2771cc 4Motion AWD for our work vehicle to replace our subaru wagon which was recently written off. its done around 160-170kms but its NZ NEW first registered in 2005 September. Not sure about owners and with regards to service history, assume it doesnt have any. Anything in particular to look for? going for a test drive soon thanks!
  5. i still think getting a nice e46 then keeping it for say a couple of years then moving up to the e90 sedan would be ideal. plenty of room to work with with the e46 and you can 'make it your own'
  6. I say e46. Take the extra 20k u wud have spent and mod it!
  7. hmm makes sense. but then why do we even have a value for the car? we dont have third party + fire and theft (which would then make sense) we just have third party insurance and if i did have comprehensive cover, that means in order for me to get the 'agreed value' then i must make my own claim which means pay my excess fee (which might make it not so worth while, in some cases depending on the value/cost)

  9. Other vehicle is completely at fault and has insurance with AA insurance as well. I shouldnt have to pay any excess as I am not the one making the claim. The person who's at fault has lodged the claim to AA himself. AA insurance has third party with agreed value. Checked contract and their website. Clearly stated.
  10. So long story short my father was rear ended last sunday and our subaru wagon was severely damaged. He has third party insurance with AA with an agreed value of $3500. I just got off the phone with them and they tried to tell me that they have determined it is not repairable and they need an assessor to determine a market value. So I asked them why? because we have an agreed value of the car. They tried to argue but I just said no and the person in charge said they will look into it... This is basically our first major accident where we needed a pay out for the value of the car rather than a fix. As far as I know, we are completely entitled to the full $3500 and shouldnt take a dollar less, am I correct? Thanks

    Widebody E32

i gotta say.. the e32 just doesnt look right as a widebody. imo anyway
  12. If a girl is good enough to drive my car and has a full license, thats good enough for me.
  13. you have the best combination! e61 wagon and the w211 sedan! nice!!!

  15. hmm i must say i have to agree with you for the most part. handling is a bit 'loose' indeed. especially coming from plenty of bmw's in my past, most of which were msport. but i think it also makes the car a bit easier to drive. the steering is lighter (a bit more japanesey) than your average bmw and i can easily turn using one hand whereas with a bmw for example i would be more inclined to drive with both hands on the steering wheel. My biggest gripe with the w211 is the boaty suspension (which im assuming is what you meant when you said 'wallowy') I think some adjustable suspension would solve that problem but its certainly going to be expensive. I think its mainly because the e350 is a family sedan with more focus on comfort rather than handling. its certainly not a sports car. Also the 530i comes in both standard and msport and im pretty certain a non msport e60/61 would be quite similar to the benz. i do love the straight six sound of the bmw. (man i really do miss my old e46 330i msport) the mercedes v6 however is still a lovely engine and it goes bloody quick! The last point i wana make is that the w211 wagon looks quite dated whereas the e61 wagon still (to me anyway) looks quite newish. Lovely car btw! come say hi at the next coffee and cars meet http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/49568-auckland-monthly-coffee-and-cars-meet/
  16. Interesting point about the comparison between the e350 and 530i. I currently have a e350 w211 sedan and i felt it was a 'better' car out of the two. What reasons do u have for your opinion? Genuinely interested. i feel that the merc is a more comfortable car and the bmw is a more 'drivers' car. Another thing is that the e60 sedan shape just doesnt appeal to me. The e61 on the other hand i do like.
  17. first shot was handheld! quick shutter speed hahaha
  18. thanks i really need a bmw back in my life... so this must go!
  19. Anyone interested in a set of these wheels? 18x8 or 18x8.5 cant remember. tyres are 235/40/18? i think..... will confirm... Comes with tyres in okay condition. Wheels itself are curbed from previous owner and not in the greatest condition but still okay. Would come up nice with a refurb. Lets say around $600 ono?

    Boom.

just as the current owner bought it at one point, another buyer will buy it. regardless of history. i dont think it makes a big difference. its just something you would like/need to know about prior to making a deal. anyway glws (if owner is reading) its a lovely car and looks amazing. everyone has different sales tactics. if its working yay. if not, take whats been said on this topic and get from it what you will.
  21. personally a big fan of this colour. looks super tidy if done right.
