^this is basically the kind of response that actually helps. Thanks a lot for the info! one of many bimmersport community's advantages

i understand how it goes in terms of a formal employment.. just wanted to know what the "rule" was for paying someone on trial... and that was answered in the above posts
-
ah of course... damn.. sounds like a lot of iffy jiffy stuff that could happen, especially to those without any kind of info on such matter..
-
so as long as there is mutual agreement, i could technically pay someone $1 an hour until officially hiring them....? haha....
-
^ a written agreement sounds like a good idea. i had a quick browse at DOL website but i didnt see much regarding training period pay etc. i will have a proper look sometime though.. cheers

i already decided to pay her out of goodwill just wanted to know what the law said about it. just another question: do i pay as normal for staff who is training for say 1-2 weeks?
-
so i had someone come into my shop and worked for 5 hours. (during the 5 hours, the amount of work done was equal to less than 30 minutes, so 4.5 hours of talking/explaining) at the end of the day i decided this person wasnt suitable for the role, so i told her. am i legally entitled to pay her for the 5 hours of 'work'? thanks edit: I told her that today was a "trial" and not even a training period before she began work, so she wasnt officially hired yet

just want to put it out there to those who say "Set up a AP" or what not, im not saying this is the case for the original poster, but some people dont have money sitting in the bank or have regular income, so they may have to move around some money from this bank to that bank or deposit it on certain days before a payment for something is due.. and its very possible for a person to be a day or even a week late in a payment (which doesnt seem to be a big deal for monthly or maybe even fortnightly accounts) thus having an AP set up would mean it wont go through anyway. im just saying it may be easier for some to make payments manually if ones finances were not so straightforward.. in saying all that, if your finances were all messed up like said example, you probably wouldnt be able to get a loan for a car or should be getting a loan in the first place.. haha

give u a ball park idea 1999/2000 330i sedan pre f/l non msport - 8-10k 2000-2002 330i sedan pre f/l msport - 10-12k 2002-2004 330i sedan f/l non msport - 12-14k 2002-2004 330i sedan f/l msport - 14-20k i reckon you should aim for the last one i mentioned looking for things like: multifunction steeringwheel, built in tv (rare i think) otherwise a cd player not tape, alcantara (suede like) or leather seats, sunroof?, colour, other cosmetic things that u may like i dont know.. most importantly NZ NEW would be nice, service history, and what i find helpful is to look at the owner you are buying from (if its not a dealer), you can get a good idea of what kind of hardships (for lack of a better word) the car has been through.. for example i bought my 1999 328ci coupe about 6 years ago from an elderly couple in manukau heights, it was an import but they looked after it well with full service record. I had it for 2 years before selling and the only money i ever spent was oils, filters, and tyres... good luck

What's a reasonable fuel Consumption for a e36 1996 318ti? I filled up $100 ish on unleaded 95, only got about 350kms... Any ideas what could be causing such usage? Thanks

really nice photos! (cant help but feel the need for some side skirts and rear bumper lip? for the navy e30 though)
-
never knew that VW had 5x120 stud patterns.. thought it was only BMW and holdens?
-
not too sure why you would feel the need to spend money on a 330 while not wanting a "race car"... 330 is still a great car, goes pretty well for what it is even if its not a manual..
-
call up studylink and keep the car! haha.. but yea, good starting price! whoever buys this shouldnt be disappointed

after seeing the new iphone 5, i stand by my original comment... get an iphone 4/4s on the cheap

afaik galaxy s3 has something similar to airplay and all the new devices from samsung will have this feature too. ive heard a lot of people say that samsung s3 is a better phone than iphone 4/4S. when we talk about something being better, we may not be talking about the same thing. spec wise, s3 is supposed to be much faster with its faster cpu etc but at the end of the day, from my experience, an iphone has no lag and if it is a bit sluggish, then all u need to do is just back up, erase and load it again.. a phone being good or not really depends on the user, if you are a teenager, you should have a basic phone so you can call your mum to pick u up from the movies, text ur friends, not have a smartphone to go on facebook or what not. if you are a young adult, then maybe any smartphone will be fine, those around 20's and 30's should be able to manage any device and get used to it pretty easily, ios or andriod. if you are 40+ then i really do think an iphone is the way to go. someone said something like apple dumbing down already existing features.. thats exactly what "older" people need. my old man was very frustrated with all his previous phones, nokia bar phones, samsung sliders, some other flip ones, and before the smartphone era, the LG cookie phone. after getting the iphone, he is able to do pretty much everything anyone else would. its just too easy. android on the other than would take a LOT more getting used to. it really just depends on the user whether to go android or iphone or windows 7/8.. me personally, am using an iphone 4 since it came out. before that used a bunch of random ones, nothing amazing (cept for the first color camera phone? sharp GX10!!) basically never had a problem with my phone. had it for 2 years now, over 700 charge cycles, battery still holds 90% of design capacity... cant complain really.. i tried using galaxy s1, s2, s3, note, didnt like any except for the note, just because it had a pen and i could doodle random stuff.. not that useful.. too big to carry around. i will be looking at the iphone 5 when it comes out, but i dont think there is any reason to spend 1k on a newer phone when my iphone 4 is doing everything i need and more... anyone who is looking for a new smartphone (that doesnt already have a smartphone) should consider the iphone 4 from apple (if price drops a lot) otherwise even just a well looked after second hand one from ppl upgrading. ive used iphone 4s, not much difference to 4, just a tad faster, nothing major, and apparently uses more battery than 4. iphone 4 is the way to go! -normal everyday user with no bias towards samsung (im korean....) /endrant

just an opinion, i think it would look cool with a set of m3 side mirrors (also painted red).. btw, where is the license plate going? i always thought it looked weird when its on the mesh part rather than the actual bumper
