I really wish i was in Auckland and could help you out mate, but unless you can get it down here I cant do jack sh*t Hopefully someone nearby who knows what they are doing can roll up sometime soon and get ya sorted Hope you make your track debut, we put a whole new engine in mine 2 weeks before my last clubsport meet haha.

The easiest way to tell is to borrow a relay. Anyone around with an E30 you can ask for help? Fortunately for me I have an entire spare car at home, but it isnt so easy without that. It wont start without that relay regardless as it runs several other things too.

Including the large one under a seperate cover near the airbox? Thats the one that died for me. Well if its not that, then I'm pretty sure its the fuel line nearest the firewall that is the fuel, and the one closest to the front of the motor is the return... So maybe try removing that and crank it.. watch what happens.

Same thing happened to me last friday. Diagnosis is easy, as hotwire said, does the fuel pump prime when you first turn the key on? Should be a little 1/2 second electric motor type sound, as it pressurises the fuel lines ready to start up. If your not hearing it then you have fuel pump/relay/fuse issues.

Personally if you can I'd replace it anyway. Just to be on the safe side. Mine is leaking, sounds terrible, and it is certainly noticeable that it doesnt run quite right.

Very ingenious idea really. Take a really efficient, quite basic engine, and use it as a generator. And once i'm qualified i could even service it myself . Far better than a prius/insight/civic etc.

Pics have to be less than 800 pixels wide, and then you should be able to upload easy enough . Sounds like a nice start for your BMW ownership, not long now and you will start craving an E30 as well I'm sure

Get an E30 . You know you want to! Could get quite a nice one for that price. Take your pick, M50, turbo, v8, m325i etc haha

Thats the lovely hallmark of a stiff, caged E30 chassis . I can jack mine up and get 3 wheels off the ground from one corner

I got one to work at 800 x 600 in the end. So i guess it has to be within those? Perhaps yours was the right width, but too tall?

Whenenver I try to upload a picture as an attachment i get an error message: " Upload failed. Please ask the administrator to check the settings and permissions" Yet it used to work fine? Has something been changed? Am i no longer allowed to upload attachments?

I'd take the esky with a 2L pinto in it. And hanging the ass out is easy thanks to antiquated leaf spring, live axle rear end. Especially when combined with bald tires.

AA man says no power to fuel pump. Possibly relay. Any idea which relay controls fuel so I can switch it out with the racecar when it get home? Edit: Sweet, all sorted thanks to Jon at JK Southern Euro. Was just the relay, so now both cars should be up and running mint as, so I get to choose which to take tomorrow haha.

So my E30 320i has developed an annoying problem. It won't always start when its warm. It cranks over and fires once or twice then dies. However leaving it for a short time seems to fix the problem. Any ideas what's going on?
