  1. For less power, you could just constrict the intake for that sort of effect. A reverse turbo would be a pointlessly expensive way of curbing your power.... Also, changing the tune slightly, perhaps less fuel and retarding the timing slightly.... might save you some gas and cut power...
  2. Dont get me wrong, its not at all about the romance and I am certainly passionate about it. I never even considered any of the "look at me, im a pilot" attractions, but rather have been taking a close look at the job itself, and it seems to suit me. Im good at academic stuff, but prefer practical work. Pilot seems the ideal mix of both. And I definitely enjoy driving/being in control haha. And I definitely have a passion as well, else I wouldnt be leaving a decently paid airforce job for it.
  3. If i went Jetstar cadet it'd be A320s for quite some time. Suits me fine, they are apparently just like flight sim, being fly-by-wiren and full glass cockpit
  4. Haha i love all that too. Helps that I live at an airport . But i miss big jets, and would love to feel that *pushed into the back of your seat* feeling several times a day! Like a good take-off in a car, but just that little bit more!
  5. Yup, choppers look frightfully difficult. I'd be keen to fly them, but reality is i cant quite do everything. Hence having to give up on racing for flight school
  6. My main route plan was through CTC, mainly as they have a good record of Pilot placement, and very good links with some of the more "budget" airlines, i.e Jetstar and the like. Hopes are to eventually make it onto the Jetstar cadet program. Also, this isnt some sudden pipe dream, this has been my dream in life since i was about 8, however it is only now that I am beginning to realise I could actually achieve it if i put in enough effort. I always thought I'd never get to fly due to my eyesight, but turns out I'm well within the range for a commercial pilot. Just not good enough for the RNZAF haha. Edit: Oh yeah, and i can be pretty mad when i need to be too
  7. I'm looking at doing my CPL through CTC, and was just wondering... are there any other bimmersporters out there who fly? My goal is to become an airline pilot (i know, big goal, but hey you only live once). Currently I'm studying towards being an Aircraft Technician in the RNZAF, but I'm seriously considering jumping ship and running off to do the CTC course. Anyone got any advice? Tips and hints? Or just long-winded stories? Cheers, Paul
  8. I'd agree. Can't go past a 911 I'd do many terrible things for one...
  9. Finish it up real nice, just for the lolz.

    E30 320i Racecar

Maybe you should sell yours and buy mine? Haha keep your wheels and those tyres and youd be almost set. And roadlegal for now... although new owner will need a new authority card as it is linked in to licences.

    E30 320i Racecar

    E30 320i Racecar

Keep an eye out guys, this could be on the market very soon. I'm keen on doing my CPL, so unfortunately something has to give . Cant race and fly... so someone will benefit from all my blood sweat and tears, and hopefully finish her off into a race-winning behemoth. Or at least get her into the series. It wouldnt take much! (Wheels + tyres, transponder etc) Its gonna be sad to say goodbye
  13. Think again. Hate to break it to you, but even with the best part time job in the world running any car, let alone an E30 is a struggle. Insurance will probably set you back a decent $800ish a year, tyres, services, petrol. These dont come cheap. Not to mention that if you have an opportunity to save for a future, id say do it, because i spent all my job money on cars and now i have student debts. Which will just keep building. Ive since learned that keeping a $1200 320i running is the best bet for having a fun, reliable car, without spending too much, and being able to save up for a future, and pay off my debts. Cars are EXPENSIVE! Cannot be over-stressed, and all cars are. If you buy a $7000 car it'll leave you with less money for that emergency problem when something goes bang (it will.) However cheaper cars let you have that little bit extra for a rainy day
  14. Do you even need a 325? You'd be surprised how much fun any BMW E30 (even 316is) are when you adctually get to drive them everyday. I'm glad my new car is a 320i, for the tiny gain in economy and the "i wont lose my licence" factor, and it still performs plenty for on the road, and certainly my other one does ok on the track. 180kph is only exciting the first time. 100kph round a hairpin is exciting every time.
  15. Cant you just CTRL + Z and that'll undo the delete?
  16. Yup haha, way too oversensitive. It isnt even a racist joke lol. I dont know if id pay $5k for it, but itd be cool for a week or two haha. Maybe a rental company should buy it?

    Rear badges

Be stealth as and go for a 318i badge or leave the 320i there haha. But on a more serious note, I wouldnt go for debadged purely just cos every debadged E46 ive seen has been a 318i
  18. Im by no means an expert in E30s, so couldnt tell you anything from the video, but the thermostat is just inside the housing coming off the top hose from the radiator i believe. Should be the same place on your engine as mine, but not certain which hose to follow as I have a different radiator. Front passenger side of the engine however, just in front of the inlet manifold sorta area. Sorry about the useless description..
  19. Check the thermostat. Although it may seem that the coolant is hot, it may not be up to running temperature (which is VERY HIGH) and will not register on the gauge. I had a thermostat rusted open and had a similar issue, because that would explain it affecting both the computer and the gauge. Running temp from memory is 90ish? Mine was running at about 75ish, therefore not registering on the gauge (gauge only shows a small temp range, approx 10 degrees apparently.)
  20. Id avoid that model corolla. They have balls, but no heart. Grip up front isnt too great, seating position is extremely high, as is centre of gravity, fuel economy is ok but nothing fantastic, and everything feels cheap. Real cheap. Not to mention the fact that they all rattle. Even if it doesnt when you test drive it, give it another 5000kms and it will. Not a biggy but gets real annoying real fast.
  21. Not to mention the exhaust... it sounds fantastic haha. Gave us up front some music for the trip.
  22. I thought your car was road legal? I drive my car to all the sprints i go to haha.
  23. White mtech 1 M325i e30 coupe, with mtech 2? spoiler and female driver On Welly motorway, heading out towards the hut. Was in my sisters corolla, else i woulda been alongside drooling (at the car ) for quite some time haha.
