  1. Me too, if Andrew can't make it.
  2. An E28 535 would be a blast. Would also evolve into a nice race car, I imagine. It wouldn't be cheap to insure 3.5l as a 15yo though.
  3. E30 318iS. Light, low powered, great handling. Good looking too. It would be a good car to learn to drive in.

  5. There is definitely a performance increase (and in theory, an economy return from the lower throttle percentage needed for the same performance with a lower octane) Dyno'd the car with 95RON 165kW at the wheels, and again (on the same dyno) with 98RON and had 173kW at the wheels. Milk is still more expensive.
  6. Impressive, why didn't he start with an M5?
  7. http://www.apple.com/macosx/guidedtour/large.html Can't wait to get this. Awesome being able to watch the F1 podcasts on the iPod too.
  8. Plus a complete rebuild every 40 hours running at those power figures Conrad.
  9. You own the car Paul. Seller would be International Porsche.
  10. Good to see your parents aren't going to take responsibility for your actions. Man up, get 3rd party and drive safely.
  11. I agree, the G4 is excellent and running OS X Tiger. Never used a G3, so couldn't comment on that. Magnum Mac have their demo Macbook on sale for $1500 off memory. I was in there yesterday.
  12. I'd disagree, you would be worth getting 3rd party and getting an insurance rating. It's just like credit, if you actually never borrow any money, you'll never get a credit rating. 3rd party will also put the responsibility back on you. You'll drive safer (hopefully) as you'll lose your car if it's your fault.
  13. I agree on the Alfa GTA front. We've got 2 of them, and I can't get my hands on one for $20k. If I could. I'd be there. Nice choice though. $10k VW Passat Variant about an 01-03 $20, well and E34 540LE is hard to go passed (oh, already have one) $100k, I agree with Paul an E30 M5 is a great car. But if I had to spend it all...a slightly rough 246GT probably.
  14. Remember to download the podcasts of the 'Man Show'
  15. I have an iPOD Touch. It's awesome. I'll wait until the iPhone is released here before considering buying it. But so far. It's looking very likely. Just had the iMac delivered today. Windows sucks!
  16. Make Pam an offer on hers.

    We lost...

Speechless. There is one very happy Pom in my house though. She's been wearing her White flag with pride. I guess, I'll support them for the cup now. What do you mean, worst result since 1987? Worst result ever in a World Cup is more accurate. We actually need to qualify for the next one. England vs Scotland for the final!
  18. Graeme Clyde would be a good person to start with Gus. Get in touch with DCH Motorsport. He's there. Or find Alan Cattle, it used to be his, off memory.

    Whats it worth?

I assume we are talking about this car? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...htm?key=5444405 It's very nice (if you like Purple and white). But I would think that it is one of 2 cars in the country that have only 2 owners (ours being the other). As it doesn't have any of the ///M geat that ours does, nor cruise control. I'd still expect $15k+ for it. There are about 10 540iS in NZ (E34). I would assume that most of them are NZ New. Paul your comments are valid. Most people wouldn't stretch tp $50k for an E28 M5. But, those that know and can afford it will pay for a car that is greater than the sum of it's parts. You aren't comparing Apples with Apples.

    Whats it worth?

It's hardly a run-out model. Big wheels and a spoiler would make a run-out. A rare as rocking horse sh*t 6 speed manual stuck in there. You need to drive one. Only 5% of E34 were manual. The 540iS is a lot easier to drive than the M5 (E34 both). The massive torque means that you don't have to rev it hard. I generally use 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th gears in normal round town driving and get under 11l/100km. Yes, you'll pick up a 540i for less than $10k these days, but anyone who really likes driving won't buy an Auto. So Paul's comment is correct. Many people can't see why the 540iS is so much more of a car than the 540i. Plenty of people like Big Mac's too, it doesn't make them good. I will agree that an E39 is better than an E34. If your mate got a good condition E39 540iS for $21k. He got a great deal.

Good call Jock. I still wouldn't take $15k for ours. Rarity has it's price.
  22. Yes, great work. I too use Ross in East Tamaki. Although with changing jobs, I might have a look at Grey Lynn now.
  23. Nice Grant, now you just need a Recaro baby seat.

    Whats it worth?

Clowns, the lot of you! Mine has Self-levelling rear suspension. An excellent 540iS should be worth at least $15k.
