Drove my new to me, moderately tickled, 335i back from Hamilton. Stoked to be back in a BMW, such a nice car to drive. Bloody good at passing too ?

Spoilsport ?

Wellington Drivers - I am hoping you can help.

Be careful of massive pot holes along there too, nearly fallen in a couple -
Lol at the SMG book, with the needle buried deep in the redline, with all the "cold engine" lights lit. Not really being a good role model, are you BMW?

read out millage E91 found out engine VIN is different than chassis VIN
KwS replied to Species 8472's topic in Maintenance
How does it even get that? Surely thats just the VIN on the DME, so it could have had the DME swapped, not the engine? -
Its a shame the one he reviewed is so poverty pack. He would've lost his sh*t with a fully loaded 750il, so many quirks and features.

Newly purchased 135i running badly - beginning of a saga?
KwS replied to SteveArmy90's topic in Maintenance
Why can't they send the used injectors to a workshop closer to you, if they insist on them? Massive f**k around having to get the car back to Auckland! Dave's on the right course too, lock that "warranty" down hard. I can imagine the hassles if you had to claim that "warranty" though. -
You'd need to do some research as to if crank case pressure is an issue. If it was that bad i would expect lots of leaks from lots of seals, so you would ideally want the engine completely degreased and washed down so you can see where its coming from. Its usually fairly obvious if its the valve cover gasket, as itll leak down the low side of the head and onto the exhaust, but no where else on the head.
-
Valve cover gasket? Common on the petrol versions as engine tilts over to exhaust side meaning that's the low point of the head, not sure on diesel but presume the same. Turbo failure would be smoke from exhaust, not engine bay, unless exhaust is leaking badly.

Yeah it's not stock enough I guess as it's running stage 2+ currently. I'll leave it on that tune but being the kid I am, I want to play with burbles lol. Such a shame you can't transfer to another Google account but still be Vin locked.
-
Hey guys, didn't want to start my own thread so just popping in here. I'm looking at buying a car with an mhd tune on it. I understand tunes are Vin and Google account locked, so I'm guessing I'll need to buy the app and tune myself if I wanted to tweak anything (like playing with the burble)? I'm also guessing I'll have no way to get the stock tune back if I needed to? Would there be any issue with me buying the same tune as on the car and loading it again?

+1 to dont worry too much. My car failed its last WOF on a dirty reflector in the tail light, so not everything is a major. If it were me i would want to look at old wof sheets though and see what it was failing on if its happening every time.

Newly purchased 135i running badly - beginning of a saga?
KwS replied to SteveArmy90's topic in Maintenance
Sounds like OP will never get to enjoy the difference, since they are rejecting the car. -

You think, even after all this, that the dealer is going to change what he does? No, he wont, he will continue to rip poor sods off. The dealer certainly gives no f**ks. This is all basically a waste of time, where not even the OP is going to win. I do agree with your lesson though, historic codes are important on modern cars. -
Do you have a local auto AC specialist? They should be able to adapt something new like Brent said.

Life would be easier if he had just taken the 2x injector fix, and enjoyed the car. Sure, itll break down again, no doubt, but thats what the warranty is for. Instead its turned into a complete clusterf**k, that still has no end in sight. I want a good outcome for the OP because its been a rough intro to BMWs, but this has gotten harder than it needed to be. -
Good to see nothing changed since the boot lid wiring loom issues the E36 had then >_< Why change a good thing eh BMW?

Probably something reliable, a Corolla maybe -
It doesnt say in the listing what engine and box are currently in the car. Someone close to the car mentions in the Q&A it has a later E23 injection system fitted, but whether thats to the standard engine, who knows. Stunning colour though!
-
Not quite sold on the interior colour, but everything else is awesome. Cool to see a wagon in something other than black/blue/silver
-
Its nice, but i cant help but feel the (trendy) battleship grey lets it down a bit. Would look awesome in a nice orange or blue. I wonder what the deal with it is? Is it NZ new or an import? Thats almost delivery km really, so why not through a dealership?
-
From the description and Q&A, that car is a LOOOONG way from being worth collecting. Good toy though.
