Sounds familiar, http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/76315304/Abandoned-car-at-Wellington-Airport-linked-to-Colombian-jewellery-thefts Wouldnt touch it.

Thats an awesome splitter, really suits the car.

is that a leather center console? lush.

My 323i was horribly gutless. IMO drive it for what it is, save up and buy something more powerful at a later date. You wont get far modifying the 323.

A warning about repaired alloys and cleaning ; dealer servicing

if the wheel cleaner they use is anything like the stuff we have at work, its not really surprising. That sh*t is brutal, its proper acid. Works mint though! -
Got any more pictures of the rear diffuser?

+1 this. The buyer of the E36 M3 wont be looking to buy an E46 at all.

Sounds similar to my 523i before i did the vanos on it. Need to get it scanned first though, otherwise its just throwing money at a problem hoping it sticks. Mine was a real dog when cold, surging and was damn near impossible to cruise smoothly at low-mid throttle (would surge and jerk until i let off or gave it more gas). Made it interesting leaving my old parking building when cold.

Mercedes cars have no soul. AMG make good noises but beyond that they have no personality and feel like an appliance. Go sit in one and tell me it feels special. BMW is at least still passionate about what they are making.

I remember seeing it around in Wellington a couple of years ago, the plate is familiar. Looked really tidy back then. That color certainly turns heads!

THe original owner was cheap and didnt tick the boxes? NZ New cars tend to be a bit light on options (not all mind you, some have all the boxes ticked) and some imports will commonly be missing features standard in other markets (heated seats and cruise control arent huge sellers in Japan).

hahaha, complains about unreliable BMWs, wants to buy a Merc. You must be a sucker for punishment.

When you find out your car isn't the model year you thought...

im going to flip you the bird, and give up on this trainwreck of a thread. One day you will understand. Maybe not. I no longer care. -

Still gonna get boned by Trademe then, as itll use the rego to list it as a 2016 regardless -

If it was intentional and the seller was the original owner, maybe, but fact of the matter is that there are so many factors that could explain why it was registered late, and the current owner isnt the original owner, whos to say they even know the build date themselves? -

Its quite simple, it would be registered as a 2016 car, as thats the date of first registration. It has happened before, but im not going to bother wasting my time to find the info. A fact is a fact whether you like it or agree with it or not. -
Yeah all well and good until the tire comes off the bead. You dont see race cars with massive stretch. Im with you Graham, its terrible. I love a big chunky, prefect fitting sidewall.

It should also be said that trademe populates the car information, including the year, automatically from the registration number provided. -

oh for craps sake. why is this so hard to understand? BUILD DATE DOES NOT MATTER TO THE MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTER, IT IS FROM YEAR OF FIRST REGISTRATION. Its not misleading. Its not illegal. And in the case of the E92, it barely matters. Anyone that is savvy enough to care about the differences in the same chassis from 08 to 10 will be able to tell its a 2008 car and factor that in. Most other people wouldnt give half a sh*t. -
That is bloody beautiful, and really well optioned. Its a lot of money, but i think its worth it to the right person.

By all accounts, it IS a bloody 2010 car. You wouldnt call a car a 2009 if it were built Nov 2009, and first registered Feb 2010. It doesnt work like that. The only time it would be called a 2009 would be if you were referring to it by model year (IE: MY09). We dont know what happened to this car in Japan to make it sit around unregistered for that long, maybe it suffered damage on route to the dealer and took many months fix? That happens too. -

Happens a lot. As mentioned, it probably sat on a yard/lot for a couple of years before being registered. Happens at our dealership too, we dont register the car until its sold, but we may have it on the yard for a year or so if its a less than desirable model. -
Insurance - should all the old cars be worth the same?
KwS replied to tonylauno1's topic in General Discussion
This is exactly what happened to me, and the reason i left State and took all my insurance to a private broker. By word of the contract with State, they could have voided my car insurance if anything happened, because the car was modified and they didnt have the modification details correctly recorded (or recorded at all in same cases). -

KwS replied to tonylauno1's topic in General Discussion
As he is a bit vague on "new paint job" i wasnt sure if it was original color or some flashy chameleon paint job or something State required that i disclosed everything to them that wasnt original, and only when it exceeded 20% of insured value did they "claim" to have an issue with them. Mind you, i did also find out after years of insurance with them and many modified cars, they hadnt been insuring any of the modifications correctly anyway.... so i dont know.
