  1. i reckon post up some pics of the car ...if it is as nice as you suggest it will sell itself
  2. The answer is to go to a BMW SPECIALIST to get him to "register" the battery and to report to you what error codes he can read and what he thinks are the cause of those error codes. That is all.You can move forward from there. A BMW sprcialist does not always mean the dealer but it must be someobe who knows BMW ,and has the equipment to communicate with your BMW ,not a random mechanic.
  3. a perhaps we should say sustainable .But reneawable is true for hydro, because in some ways the water is renewed.Ie the waters that flows down the river to the lake evaperates and falls again as rain in the mountains.....and again...The wind is not renewable but the energy contained within ,or that drives it is sustainable. One day that may change if you beleive some people.
  4. that particular car or the HD12 in general? They were specced by BMW NZ to be a M5 lookalike. They were about 150 k in 1990.The e34 M% would have been about 200k so BMW NZ thought a poor mans M5 would be appropriate. In 1990 NZ was still in the throes of a financial crash that started in 1987.All the hd 12 were the same with electric adjusted sports seats Mtech suspension and body kit,Manual ,and the auto air con.I think i have my build sheet somewhere still
  5. Head gasket not always a major issue.I had my 535 for many years .In that time it always had a very slow coolant leak, pretty sure it was the heater.Towards the end of my time with it it developed a misfire at start up.would misfire occasioanly, then it slowly became more and more frequent, and coolant use increased slightly.I asked twice at a reputable Wellington workshop to check head gasket. Both times they said they could not identify a head gasket leak.In the end i told them to pulll it to bits anyway, and there was a leak between 5 and 6.Apart from a very slow coolant use and the instantaneous misfire at start up,there were no other symptoms
  6. the road from nelson to Blenhein is quite hilly and curvy too.So its not a particularly fast trip either.
  7. Hunter ? is that when they balance the wheels on the car?
  8. i have always has a soft spot for this car,but i am no mechanic nor have the space for it.Whilst i dont begrudge the dollars to maintain a car i dont want to pay someone to build a car.Did you ever have a manual trans lined up for this car? That is something i could convince myself in!
  9. I assume the motorbike is Kawasaki H2R?
  10. Have you actually driven one?Go aand drive a couple of 5s and maybe a 330 or 335 and see what you think. You wont always spend 2.5 k a year.Didbt the 2.5 k a year include tyres? You would be up for that withthe subie too
  11. there has been discussion re this touring before so it has been for sale before. Not sure if this is a new listing or a newly discoverd old listingI remember because i think i asked question re repowering with maybe M54
  12. i still absolutely love this view ugly ...UGLLY????!!! Flickr i get where you are coming from.I love the E24 but i hate the interiors now THAT is old fashioned
  13. i thought the early ones were 3.6 and 5 speed,the wide grill ones 3.8 6 spd
  14. have you talked to Action Tyres?
  15. kiwi535

    $1m M1

would absolutely love one of these just the formula is attractive, relatively light, powerul and torquey enough, manual,il6 whats not to like about that
  16. the advantage of a electric motor that will generate max torque at all speeds. Its a bit of a leap from a nissan to a tesla!
  17. and so the compromises begin. It really depends on whet you are going to do with the landy.A light truck tyre will provide very good puncture resistance esp if you off road with pressures down a bit.An AT type tyre will never be as good in the mud as a mud tyre.A mud tyre has less rubber on the road than An AT tyre.An At tyre has less rubber on the road than a HT tyre.A mud tyre will be much noisier than a HT tyre.
  18. you have to drive a couple .A 5 series is more car than a 3 series imo.I think after you drive a couple your choice will become clear.
  19. you can buy the correct sized battery anywhere. You will have to then "register" the battery to the car so the car"knows" what kinda battery is installed.Make sure you do buy the proper sized battery though. Many moons ago i bought a Hella battery for the e34 from a random auto electrician just down the road from work.
  20. yes i think my pajero is 265/65 17 on a 7.5.I was just interested in what size tyre you would put on a 5 in rim!
  21. if you intend to keep the run flats keep your options open. When i had my 120 d i could not get ANY run flats from my normal suppliers one xmas.I had to pay 400 odd bucks each for a couple of pirrelli runflats.Later that year i got the same tyres for about 250 each from my normal tyre man!I found the pirrellis quite compliant compared to the continentals and bridgestone s that were on it when i bough it.I had a runflat warning one morning on the way to work heading north sh2.I think i had just passed Belmont.I just slowed down a bit and kept going to WingateThere was no difference in the feel of the car albeit a bit slower than normal. However they would not repair it ,
  22. mr google says a 165 to 175 is ideal for a 5 inch rim.Action tyres are a sponsor for the wellington cross country vehicle club, they may know the current options you would have Call (04) 939 2284
  23. there are two things which make something truly offroadable or not.Clearance and wheel articulation. If you have heaps of both then you have a crap on road vehicle. And so the compromises begin
