  1. I am sure there are lots of examples we could make, but we talking about a biggish well specced sedan
  2. has its merits but i need a daily driver, even i wouldnt daily something akin to a collectors car.I have my eye on an interesting candidate
  3. yes unfortunately the market for older BMWs is quite small.Even newer ones with higher mileages .I lost HEAPS on my little 120d....but otherwise it is just money sitting there
  4. stop it!you guys making me seriously a 530d or 535d just for the pleasure of seeing 1000 k to a tank!
  5. the dollars will be very close. But would i love being able to go to Tauraunga and back without refilling! That would be using every last drop though! Then there is the torque! ruc is 6.2 c a kilometre,acc/rego is more too
  6. far enough to test the range of a 530d.I will shut up now
  7. was that the problem then?
  8. what happened to the 320d?Have i missed it?
  9. prior to the e60 purchase?
  10. i am betting a 530 d will do 900 to 1000 k to a tank so your 300 k for half a tank is under serious threat. He may not have been full to start with edit 70 litre tank so say 65 lites=1076 km @6.5 l 100k
  11. 5 series roadie ftw.Thats impressive economy.Prolly be evn better if the cruise wasnt on use a lot of fuel trying to maintain 100 k on the hills. You might even get back to Hamilton on the same tank
  12. i find that big low profile tyres dont give very much "low pressure feed back"
  13. yes the efficiency of electric is many times that of any IC engine. With PROPER disposal we should be fine.At the moment there is no other alternative....as for the E61 yes yes and yes
  14. esp if you forget and let some savings expire! There may be a slight gain by playing the game but you are basically right
  15. the self serve caltex at Kaiwhara probably has the cheapest pump price in welly....It is still branded Caltex but i think it is now Z.They arent as cheap late last year i was buying diesel there at less than $1 a litre.Since their prices have come back to about 5c cheaper than else where i can get better savings by playing the smartcard game
  16. you have to go in multple times to get the accumulated saving. So each time you go in use your smartcard and ask to "save".They have conditions. You must buy at least 40 dollars worth(or is it 40 litres?)And when you go to "cash in your savings" the savings only apply to the first 50 litres. So to play the game you only piut in the minimum as often as you can ,and only get 50 litres when you fill up and start again....you can accumlate some quite nice savings but it is a bit of a hassle. Its easy for me,i drive past a BP every day . You can get a smartphone app to keep track of your savings and to see when they said savings start to expire.
  17. not quite the fastest, there was another v8 version
  18. again its the driveability thing.just because it is not the QUICKEST doesnt mean say it cant be fast and very pleasant.
  19. i am cheap when i want to be....the premium demanded for that tech exceeds my desire for it
  20. i dont think there would be many here that do not agree with the fact that here are many nice NA engines, its just that turbos allow us to have our cake and eat it too
  21. its human nature....i want an s62 but i dont want to pay the fuel bill. Please build me an engine that will be a 1.8 econo miser during ghe week but act like a 5 litre v8 whenever i want
