  1. I think this thread proves that changing things won't help. By my count 5 of the above don't understand the current rules, and don't sound like they understand the proposed ones either. I think the changes make sense, but if you understand the current rules and follow them, there is no problem. Most people don't know how to indicate at roundabouts. Many people don't know how to keep left. Many people don't understand that slow vehicle lanes are for them if they've got 8 or so cars in a queue behind them.
  2. More importantly I better get around to sitting my full motorcycle license test before they change that. I've been sitting on a restricted for nearly 10 years as I sold my bike, but screw going through a more intense test (= more $$$ guaranteed).
  3. It's not so bad if you have a friend to help. Takes forever by yourself. Shut lines are controlled both by the position of the bolts in the elongated holes on the hinges, and shims on each hinge. You may also need to adjust the position of the latch on the door pillar. There are slip-over shims, and slide-in shims. Do larger changes to door fitment by removing the hinge bolts one hinge at a time and sliding a new shim over. Then do fine-tuning by loosening the bolts and sliding the shims in. You may need more shims than what were used on the old door. With a friend it's easy - they support the door and make small changes whilst you do the bolting/unbolting and shim insertion. by yourself you need wooden blocks and its a pain in the arse. Occasionally you get lucky and it goes to plan on your own in a few minutes, but not always. it gets easier with practice.
  4. The only way to lower your car and have it still corner and be safe is to do it properly. This doesn't mean spending alot of money. You can have a pretty low e30 with off-the-shelf lowering springs. Buy a good brand liek H&R for a few hundy, and you'll be happy with the result. Remeber, you'll probably find that your shocks will be wrecked running lowered springs on stock shocks. To put in correct shocks you're looking at spending $1,000-2,000. The difference however is night and day, and this is without going to a coil-over setup. Double your money (or more) and you'll be looking at something very decent. I'm not sure what henry has spent, but that's what I mean by very decent. Also rememebr that if any of the chassis, suspension, or steering is below 100mm from the ground you will need a cert or you risk getting a greeny or pinky = $$$$$ better off spending the money now and doing it right and enjoying a good setup than doing it on the cheap, getting some fines and maybe killing someone.

  9. I smoked from age 16 to age 23 (7 years). One day I decided I didn't want to smoke anymore and gave up. That was 5 years ago. I used to use all my sick leave every year when I smoked. Thought it was normal. I've had 1 day off sick in the last 5 years. Dad gave up when I was born after smoking for 20 years. He just made his mind up he didn't want to. he still misses his pipe (but not ciggies) and it was nearly 30 years ago, but has no interest in starting again. He used to smoke 2 packs a day plus a pipe. My grandmother gave up smoking because she got sick of the ash falling in her knitting! My Uncle gave up a month or so ago after 40 years of smoking. it was killing him. He's the last one in the family to give up. So now we have no smokers. Pretty good.
  10. $17k excess? You're car would barely be worth that?

My favourite nz e36. In fact, possibly the only e36 in nz I'd want to own.

    Gran Turismo 5

I find it great for most things as it does everything (Blu ray over hdmi, HDD for media, and plays games). but if you already have a blu-ray or don't need one, and aren't into games, then it's not as good as a dedicated media centre - clunkier interface and inability to read NTFS formatted disks being my only real gripes. Oh and the fact that the remote is an extra cost. Media centres usually come with a remote and using the PS3 controller is fine, but once you've tried a remote you'll want one. I love mine, but if I hadn't let the gf con me into thinking we needed a blu-ray palyer, then I wouldn't have got one. Her secret motive was gaming - I don't really have time for it (although I've been secretly playing NFS undercover when she's not around).

    McBumdubs!

This thread is gay without still pics. I'm getting sick of seeing updates and finding out none of them have pics. Sort your sh*t out Peter!!! Oh and I've always thought fluoro green works with matte black - especially on murci's. Wonder what it'd look like on a diamantshwarz e30?
  16. If you're ever back over here and up these ways we'll soon fix that.
  17. You do realise you can "go fishing" without actually going fishing? Just because there are rods on the boat doesn't mean they have to get wet. You're allowed to go find a quiet bay and enjoy a quiet beer on the boat in the middle of nowhere. Best kind of "fishing" there is. The other week we went out on a really shitty day - found a deserted, sheltered bay, pulled out a deck of cards, and "fished" until the next day when it was time to head back.
  18. As you say, sounds dodgy - apart from wanting your address though, I can't see how they intend on extracting anything out of you? Unless www.paypal.com is a clickable link to a phishing site.
  19. yeah, but you wanted to get out of fishing, so you're praying for bad weather. You're the first person I've met who wants to get out of going fishing. You'd be nuts to go out if it blows up like it says it will, but some dumb-arse will still think its a good idea, until they get into trouble. Nevermind, I'll think of you as I'm giggling like a school boy doing 20kts off the back of a huge wave with 630hp under my arse on my way out to drag them back in.
  20. What is wrong with you? A wet day fishing is better than a fine day at work (or at home). I've been promising one of the instructors from 46 South a few hours out on the jetboat to practise some heavy weather handling next time the weather blows up. Might be the perfect opportunity.

Progress: Things are looking up! The store manager has verbally agreed to refund the $55 repair bond, and supply a new battery. But until it eventuates I'm still crossing fingers.
