    Attention Chch lads

You don't have to drink alcohol at a pub. They usually serve food and non-alcoholic drinks. But will be great to see you at the rest regardless. Gaz - thanks for doing the booking mate. I'm sure you'll let us know how that goes.

    BS RB Reps

For sale. $600 Set of four BBS RB replicas. Reputable Australian wheel manufacturer. Wheels are perfectly straight and only about 2 years old. No kerbing, but unfortunately some superficial light scratches and one of two stone chips. What I would call very minor, but it would be misleading to advertise without mentioning. Cannot see unless you put your face up to the wheels - I only notice when cleaning them. Do not include tyres. These are made for e30 fitment. They are hubcentric and have engineered and pressed aluminium centre locating rings included ($200 value). Centre caps have BMW logo. Top looking wheel for very little money (well under half of new cost).

    Attention Chch lads

How about 1.30pm Sunday at Supa Karts Indoor raceway rear carpark here. Access to carpark is beside building. Locals can comment on suitability/security. We'll take suggestions on a post-karting bevvy venue on the day. I figure there'll be half an hour or so of catching up in the carpark, another half hour to an hour karting, which will take us to about 3.00pm to 3.30pm, then an hour or so for debrief at a suitable venue. If no-one has any objections, lets run with this? Have been meaning to catch up with the chch crew for some time, so really looking forward to it.

    Attention Chch lads

Sunday is fine. I can't read. How about early avo start, look at some rides, then do some karting, followed by a beer to finish?

Sounds good. The missus just had a brilliant idea - what about a spot of go-karting first? From memory there's an indoor place on Moorhouse Ave. Edit: Do it Sunday. EOI on the go karting?
  6. I'm in Chch this weekend (Friday till Monday) for a bit of a break. Got a couple of gigs lined up to go to in town on Friday and Saturday night, but my usual drinking/debauchery right-hand-man, Riley, is in Europe. So if some of you Chch lads feel like letting me have a gawk at your rides and maybe have a beer or two one afternoon, let me know. I'm staying at the Ibis Hotel on the square, so pretty central. Cheers.
  7. Her phishy, phishy.... That's pretty devious. Also a good reason to have different passwords for each site. The problem is remembering them all!

    M3 Porn!

Meh, I disagree. I don't want to own a car that looks like it just took a sh*t after eating a hot vindaloo. After seeing half a dozen in the flesh and on the road, I'm a 2-door fan.

No. I mustn't be i-pad material. To quote Chopper "Lets be honest, if the i-pad were smaller, I don't know, say... pocket-sized, and made phone calls, I'd probably be interested in buying one."

Please forward PM to one of the admin so we can delete account.
  11. ^^^ Agreed with tectronic, but SMG could technically be considered a manual.
  12. Goddamn are Veyrons common these days or something?
  13. lol, Grant. Good call. Whiteboard in garage is a must - if you are really cheap, grab an old fridge door from the dump and hang it on the wall. We have a sparky in the family, so old fridges get put to good use - chilly bins for on the deck, chuck a padlock on one and you've got yourself a great, solid cabinet, toolbox, gun locker, etc. Things to do on the e30? It'd possibly be easier to say that the gearknob is perfect, and the rest needs work? Seriously though, when your car is your hobby it's never finished and there's always things to do. Right now mine is in winter hibernation, but some new paint and a minor oil leak round the tappet cover are the only things I've got planned for spring.
  14. I don't like a password manager without a master password. Firefox is almost as bad. I did a wee test the other day - protected my firefox passwords with a master password. I then copied the file it stores the passwords in to another computer and imported them into firefox. No master password required and there were all my passwords for anyone to see. So I use a firefox plugin to handle my passwords. As for the SSL, they may have added support for client certs, but last I checked it still didn't support them. It has always supported server-side certs.
  15. Ummm yeah, no support for client side SSL certificates (so no good for me at work where I need to access secure online applications). And no decent password managers available. And still very few decent add-ons. For your average web user it's great, but missing some "basic" tools for advanced users if I am permitted to use an oxymoron. Edit: Oh, and do you really want big brother google looking over your shoulder. it's bad enough I use their email service. is there anything Google doesn't know?
  16. What version of Firefox? What OS. No problem on My XP Pro Firefox 3.6.8 machine.
  17. Yes/no. Build year and rego year are often different, so you could have a registered 1988 e30 that is pre f/l built in 1987. Also the different factories/assembly plants around the globe switched to F/L at different times depending on when they ran out of F/L bodies. Some were even hybrids (I've seen at least 2) which were made up of parts from both cars. Most of these looked like F/L but with some pre F/L bits. I'm not sure whether any F/L's squeezed into 1987, but there were definitely some pre F/L 1988 cars.
  18. Do you have to use the valves that came with the wheels? new valves are throw-away consumable items at most tyre shops. The place I go puts new ones in for free every time I get new tyres.
  19. Like I said mate, some insurance companies don't allow it. Others do. You need to ask them when you take the cover. If they say yes, then they have to pay out.
  20. Scirocco looks cooler IMO.
  21. Welcome - very tidy e36 you have there!

    iPhone 4 ?

After all the trouble it's had overseas, and Apple's PR ballsup with the latest Jobs Media Rlease, I can't get it into my head how anyone still actually wants one?? If you all want to spend $1099 on a useless piece of junk that drops calls, I'll happily buy you an old 1st gen iphone and drop it a couple of times for you, then pocket the change.
  24. Googled the museum. Home to more than 200 aircraft, over 150 of which are outside in the elements where "No ropes, fences or information boards make these aircraft perfect for photographing". In other words, "we didn't do f**k all except park them there".

    This is why!

I think it is a given that the guy acted like an idiot. He is clearly remorseful. He has spent a lot of time with the family of the boy he killed, and has agreed to do whatever the family and/or courts want. The family have made it publicly clear that they do not want him to do time. He deserves to pay the consequences, and he made a stupid decision, however I respect his attempt to undo as much of the damage as he can. Jail time will likely achieve noting IN THIS INSTANCE and so with the families blessing, as a citizen I can accept that he won't do time. I suspect that he will serve any alternative sentence willingly. I do not feel at all sorry for him. Getting all het up about it isn't going to achieve anything either.
